Instructions
For this assignment, you will write an annotation of one of the empirical research studies you intend to use for your capstone paper. Note that the empirical research study must be a primary research study conducted in the United States, published in a peer-reviewed journal, and should contain some of the following sections: Introduction/literature review, method/methodology, sample/participants, data/results/findings, and discussion/conclusion. If there is no method or data analyzed, it is not a primary research study and cannot be used for this assignment.
Part 1
First, complete the General Questions for Writing an Annotation for the research study. Answer the eight (8) questions in a Word doc and make sure to include the questions as well as the answers (I will deduct points if the questions are not included). Remember to paraphrase the information IN YOUR OWN WORDS. Do not copy and paste directly from the research study.
In a Word document, provide the following information:
Your thesis statement
Reference information for the study: Authors’ last name(s), publication year, study title, journal name, vol./issue number, pages numbers, doi or url.
Questions and answers for the general questions for writing an annotation.
General Questions for Writing an Annotation
What type of source is this?
Who were the researchers?
What was the purpose of the study (what were the research questions)?
How did the researchers obtain their data and what specific data were obtained from the sample?
What did the researchers find?
What did the researchers conclude from their findings?
What were the limitations of the study? Specifically, what factors may have influenced the researchers’ findings?
What did the researchers suggest for future research?
Part 2
Using your responses from Part 1 of the assignment, write an annotation for the research study. Start the annotation on a new page within your Word document. Please refer to the Sample Annotation in this week’s module as a guide and follow the rules outlined in Unit 6 of the Write & Wrong text for writing an annotation.
Formatting: Times New Roman 12-point font; double-spaced; left alignment, 1″ page margins, page numbers in the upper right header.
The annotation should be written in essay format using full sentences.
Paraphrase in your own words (be careful not to change the meaning of any variables or findings).
Proofread for mechanics and grammar.
Length: Annotations must be at least two (2) full double-spaced pages with a minimum of 600 words (excluding Part 1 of the assignment).
Upload the Word document with the annotation to the assignment page.

Emergency Operations Plan for Montgomery County, Ohio: Preparing for a Hurricane Katrina-Type Disaster
I have attached an approved template for this assignement. Topic locality will be Montgomery County, Ohio (Dayton).
Draft an Emergency Operations Plan (EOP) for a city of your choice as if preparing for a hurricane Katrina-type disaster. This EOP should:
Identify all eight of the topics needed for a complete EOP.
Illustrate how all eight of the topics needed for a complete EOP fits into the formats outlined in course readings.
Determine if the template is tailored to the city jurisdiction’s geographic, political, and social environment.
Address the following concerns:
The resulting plan represents the jurisdiction’s unique hazard and threat situation by ensuring that the underlying facts and assumptions that drove the template to match those applicable to the jurisdiction.
The hazard and risk assessments match the jurisdiction’s demographics, infrastructure inventory, probability of hazard occurrence, etc.
The template identifies the resources needed to address the problems generated by an emergency or disaster only in a general way.
Using the template may stifle creativity and flexibility, thereby constraining the development of strategies and tactics needed to solve disaster problems.
Determine the benefits of both teamwork and using a template.
Evaluate the eight topics as they relate to the disaster, regarding the strengths and weaknesses of the implementation of the jurisdictions EOP.

“Data-Driven Solutions: Using Tools and Analysis to Address Organizational Challenges” “Effective and Feasible Solutions for Healthcare Organizations with Limited Resources” Title: “Maximizing Resources: Evidence-Based Solutions for Healthcare Organizations with Limited Budgets”
This assessment consists of three parts.
Data Presentation
In this part of the assessment, you will apply the selected tool to the problem and produce a minimum of two visual data displays (charts, graphs, et cetera). Examples of tools you might include are:
Cost Benefit Analysis: Excel spreadsheet, converted into 2–3 worksheet tabs, graphs, or other visual display format.
Compliance Assessment: 3 major criteria converted into 3 separate pie charts or other graphic display format.
Lean Analysis: The percent of variance by major factor converted into 2–3 trend lines.
Note: At a minimum, provide a cost benefit analysis of the recommendation.
Quantitative and Qualitative Analysis of Data
In this part of the assessment you will analyze the collected data relative to benchmarks. Provide discussion as to whether the selected benchmarks are internal to the organization, external industry benchmarks, or a combination. Be sure to include a short summary of observations. Note: If the problem requires an additional tool, such as a compliance audit tool, you may include more than one discussion of the results.
Evidence-Based Recommendations
In this final part of the assessment, provide evidence-based recommendations that will help to address the identified problem. Be sure to support your recommendations with references to current, scholarly, and/or authoritative sources. Also, include an explanation as to why the recommendations are feasible for this particular organization. For example, one recommendation might be to offer a new service line. Even though the new service may not generate an immediate profit, it might serve to draw additional patients into the network.
Tips
Assessment 3: Data Collection and Analysis
Open your paper with an introduction that previews the paper: offer a summary of the purpose of your project and your recommendations.
Do not place any graphs before the introduction.
Identify at least two specific data analysis tools that you will use to analyze and present data.
The data collection and analysis tools that you use should be ones that are “recognized” and used within the industry. You are expected to use charts, graphs, process maps, etc.
Explain why you selected those tools.
The key to justifying the recommended tool(s) is to offer cogent evidence, such as precedents, from research published in scholarly and/or professional journals.
You must create your own data visualizations. Do NOT copy-paste graphs, charts, etc. from external sources.
Embed graphs, charts, etc. in your paper – do not provide these in a separate file.
For data presentation, provide appropriate visualizations of the data. Explain why you selected the tools and discuss the strengths and weaknesses of the tools. Be sure to explain what the data tells us and discuss the implications.
Cost-benefit analysis (CBA) is a tool that you can use – but you are not required to.
A CBA is an in-depth analysis of all costs and benefits. If you choose to provide a CBA be sure to provide a narrative that explains the source of your data.
Be sure to properly label all graphs. The title must include the name of the organization, the type of data, and date range. Here is a simple example:
George Community Hospital
Inpatient CHF Readmissions by Month
2022 – 2023
This paper is expected to provide the actual data, both from a specific organization or geographic area (i.e., internal), as well as the benchmark data (i.e., external), and then offer an assessment / analysis of the data.
Your data and analysis are expected to identify the causes of the problem. Just having data about the problem does not offer any insight into the causes. Without identifying the cause, you can’t fix the problem.
Your analysis of the internal data compared to external benchmarks and best practices should lead you to develop pragmatic recommendations.
You are expected to identify evidenced-based solutions that will “fix” the causes of the problem. Avoid offering generic solutions that are not related to the causes. Healthcare organizations have very limited resources – so recommending actions that will not fix the problem will waste their resources.
Be sure to offer evidence (data from research published in scholarly / peer-reviewed journals) that shows that the solutions are effective and efficient; i.e., the solutions are proven to work.
The recommendations must be sensitive to organization context and constraints – be sure to assess the feasibility of your recommendations. Do not propose a solution that the organization cannot implement. -

“Exploring Three Generations of My Family’s History: A Personal and Sociological Analysis” Exploring Three Generations of My Family’s History: A Personal and Sociological Analysis Introduction As part of my Sociology course, I had the
This assignment provides you with the opportunity to interview a family member about three generations of your family’s history (the family member you interview, as well as his or her parents and grandparents). In the process, you will not only learn more about your own family’s story, but you also will have a chance to connect this narrative to the issues and trends that we have discussed in class this semester. For some students, this assignment may be a chance to spend time with and get to know an older relative and to further personalize your connections to our course materials.
First, you will conduct an interview with a person who has significant memories and knowledge of your family’s history—ideally, someone who is at least 60 years old, but an elderly relative (80 years+) would be ideal. Included below in this assignment are questions to help you prepare for the interview. Then, in a narrative form (not in a Q & A format) write up the information you gather during your interview.
second part
In this section, you should connect aspects of your family’s story to the overall family topics and trends that we have been discussing all semester. You also must provide your interpretation of WHY your family’s history and contours unfolded as it did, in light of its location in terms of class, culture, race, gender, immigration, and/or educational statuses.
The primary references in this analysis should be our class discussions and readings. However, you may be inspired to undertake further library research for this section to guide your understanding of issues (such as immigration history) that we have not covered in class. Please be mindful about citing sources using MLA or APA format and providing a list of works cited at the end of your essay.

Listening to Advice: The Role of Research Writing in Academic Writing and the Importance of Self-Evaluation and Critique
Requirement: 200-300 words; Threaded format
1.Prompt: Reflect on Proverbs 12:15, “The way of a fool is right in his own eyes, but a wise man listens to advice.” How is research writing a way of listening to advice? How should Christians approach research writing? Or, if you like, how would a fool approach research writing, and how should we strive to be different?
2.Find two internet sources related to your topic and compare and contrast their quality as college sources. Note that these should be internet sources, not sources from the library – this is an exercise, and you will probably not use these sources in your paper. Some questions to consider: why is one superior to the other? Do both writers have credibility? Is one of the sources better written than the other? Are both ultimately strong or weak? Share your evaluation. Your submission should contain APA references for each source.
3.Practice “reverse outlining” by creating a brief outline of the essay, “Is Google Making Us Stupid” in the Field Guide Begin by making a brief marginal note summarizing each paragraph. Then, review your notes to come up with 3-4 main sections of the essay. Include 3-4 key subpoints for each of your 3-4 main sections. In the end, you should have at least 9 bullet points. Here’s the key, though – a reader must be able to get a sense of the entire essay from your outline. For your response post, consider finding an outline that emphasized different points than yours and comment on the differences between the two.
4.Reflect on the project of the annotated bibliography (AB). Have you written with an AB before? What has been most challenging for you? Have you been able to turn the AB into a document that will help you organize your research in a vital way? Why or why not? What sources did you choose to include, and what are some sources you decided to leave out? Will you use annotated bibliographies in future research projects or only if you are required to submit them?
5.Reflect on Proverbs 10:9. Why is it so important for Christians, particularly, to submit their own original work? Why is it important for Christians to be careful with citations?
6.Write a discussion post on any topic. Include two direct quotations with effective signals, correct in-text citations, and correct references at the bottom of the post. Make one error! In your response to a classmate, identify that classmate’s error and state how it should be fixed.
7.Give specific examples of how MacKay and Kristof use ethos, pathos, and logos in their essays. Remember that ethos is the establishment of the writer’s credibility, pathos is an appeal to the reader’s emotions, and logos is an appeal to the reader’s mind. Successful responses will use specific textual references.
8.Explain the rhetorical situation of your research essay. What is your topic, and what stance are you taking toward the topic? Describe your audience, going beyond “an academic audience.” What assumptions are you making about what your audience believes? What points will you need to emphasize for this audience, and how will you appeal to their minds and hearts? Are there any special considerations around the occasion of your essay? That is to say, is it timely in any particular way? If so, how will you work that into your paper?
9.Write a paragraph that shows effective synthesis of at least two sources. Remember to use key synthesis phrases like “in contrast to X, Y asserts” or “Both X and Y agree. . ..” Your paragraph must be in standard APA format, at least 8 sentences in length, and must effectively synthesize at least two sources.
10.What did you observe in your self-evaluation? What are some of the challenges of critiquing your own writing? If you asked a friend or family member to read your paper, did that help you to reconsider some aspects of the composition? After your self-evaluation, what are the most important changes you need to make to your paper?
