Analysis of Conflict Report    
What Is It? Your final project of the term asks you to examine the concepts and skills you have learned and apply them to a “real-world” conflict related to one of 5 core themes. You will research your topic and tell the story of the situation. Then you will analyze and connect several course concepts which are applicable to your conflict. This project will be comprised of a detailed paper and a short recorded presentation to your peers on your conflict. Please note: while multiple students may choose the same core “theme”, no two students can analyze the same specific conflict.  
What Do I Have To Do? 
Step 1: Select one of the core themes below to focus on for your paper. When choosing your  theme, pick one that sounds interesting or has meaning to you. Remember, this is just your theme for your paper, you will select your paper and presentation topic next.

Step 2: Now that you have an overarching theme, you should complete some research within your theme to find a specific case study or conflict related to your theme.  The Benghazi Attacks 2012. All you need to be able to do is demonstrate that your “real-world” case study is connected to the overarching theme that you chose above.   
Step 3 (The Paper): Once your topic has been approved (notated on the Google Sheet), you should begin developing your research report on the topic. Your paper should follow the structure outlined below and each section should be labeled and the paper should be written in essay format. Be sure to include transition sentences between each section. 
Introduction  
Briefly introduce us to your topic, why you chose it, and what you will cover in your report
The Story  
(This should be by far the shorter section). Present the conflict situation. Describe the context, parties, the nature and course of the conflict, and any situational variables critical to understanding the circumstances. Please do not spend too much time on the description if it prevents you from making sharp analytical commentary. 
Analysis  
Draw on concepts from the text, handouts, and lecture that will enable you to more fully and/or usefully understand this conflict. You might use parts of (not all of) assessment quizzes both from your text and in-class activities to help you choose concepts to apply. You may use several concepts or just two or three. Your analysis might include suggestions on how it developed in the first place, how it functioned relationally, what was “really” going on underneath the verbiage, what “interests” were being negotiated, etc. You should be sure to include several specific examples from the case study with references. 
Make sure to include in-text citations and specific page numbers from course content in this section. You will lose significant points if you do not thoroughly explore course concepts and how they relate to your situation. 
Suggestions for Improvement  
Going off of your analysis, you should outline 1 or 2 recommendations for ways this conflict could be managed better, including “learnings” that may affect future conflicts in this same topic. 
Be sure to address what you personally have learned through researching this conflict situation. 
Make sure you focus on the relationships, forgiveness, and expectations we might see. 
Conclusion  
Summarize your paper and provide a solid wrap-up paragraph

Paper must include a minimum of 6 credible resources (not including course content) 
2 of your sources must come from scholarly journals
Paper must include a minimum of 6 credible resources from the course book interpersonal conflict written by Joyce, Hocker, Keith Berry and William Wilmont.
