Epidemiology/Global Infectious Disease Paper: DUE WEEK 3 (80 pts)

2. Write the Epidemiology/Global Infectious Disease Paper, using prompts below:
Write a four page paper (see Rubric) including

b. The difference between Descriptive and Analytical epidemiology
c. You will be assigned an infectious disease that threatens health either globally or in the United States.
3. Using Epidemiological Principles and current data (publications within the last five years 2016-2021) – make sure you address all of the issues below

SCENARIO SUMMARY:
62 yo stroke patient whose insurance only covers a 3 night stay at the hospital. 
According to the insurance company, they recommend discharging her today. The patient’s nurse and healthcare team say she isn’t ready for discharge and still has to undergo rehab and physical therapy to relearn many basic daily movements. 
This patient has no one to take care of her at home because her daughter works full time. 
Others argue that 1-2 additional nights in the hospital aren’t going to solve these issues. 
Also, if the hospital is overpacked, she is at risk of infection. If she stays longer, she has to pay out of pocket. 
The healthcare team is conflicted on what to do and ultimately decide to discharge the patient. 
This episode raises important questions about the ethical responsibilities of healthcare professionals. Even though Joan’s condition had not fully stabilized, a shortage of available beds, the hospital’s policy, and insurance algorithms appear to have dictated her care. What potential consequences and ethical dilemmas do you observe in this scenario?  What ethical frameworks or guidelines should healthcare team members and their organizations follow when facing this situation?

Depressive Disorders Answer the questions below based on the following case study.
A 41-year-old man presents to his PCP with feelings of hopelessness, sadness, and helplessness. He says that he cries for no reason, and has difficulty sleeping. He noticed that the problems began about 6 weeks before, and he did not feel able to shrug them off. He has been drinking more alcohol than usual and has stopped going to work. When on his own, he admitted that he had thought of driving his car into the nearest canal.
Summarize the clinical case.
What is the DSM 5-TR diagnosis based on the information provided in the case?
Which pharmacological treatment would you prescribe including the name, dose, route and frequency of the drug in accordance with the clinical guidelines? Include the rationale for this treatment.
Which non-pharmacological treatment would you prescribe according to the clinical guidelines? Include the rationale for this treatment excluding a psychotherapeutic modality.
Include an assessment of the treatment’s appropriateness, cost, effectiveness, safety, and potential for patient adherence to the chosen medication. Use a local pharmacy to research the cost of the medication and provide the most cost-effective choice for the patient. Use great detail when answering questions 3-5.
