Based on the first three episodes of the TV show “The Foster’s”
This assignment will be based on the family from the TV show “The Fosters”. If you were the clinician assigned to treat this family, how would you proceed? Write the paper as if the family is your client. Please use the following sub-headings when writing your paper (and then see below for what each section should contain):
A: Descriiption of the Family and Presenting Problems
A (1 page): A descriiption of the family and the presenting problems. “The client” is the whole family. You must discuss the whole family, and each member of the family. Use course readings and your own research to give facts about these presenting problems. (1 point)
B: Trauma and Its Impacts
B: (2 – 3 paragraphs): After the presenting problems are discussed, discuss any relevant history (such as trauma, foster care, adoption, etc.) (to the best of your ability). What are the traumatic events impacting this family functioning? (2 points)
C: Changes Needed
C: (3 paragraphs): What changes are needed in the family and why? Why are these changes so difficult? (2 points)
D: Strengths of this Family
D (2 paragraphs): A strengths-based perspective of this client (the family). State why it is important to look at this family from a strengths-based perspective. Make sure to use at least three strengths in your paper. (2 points)
E: Family Therapy/Intervention
E: (3 paragraphs): Which family therapy/intervention (Bowen, Minuchin/Structural, Solution-focused, Object-relation, etc.) would you use to understand and assist the Madrigals? Include concepts from the theory to analyze your case. Please note: The theory is not the intervention itself, it is what the intervention is based on. You should be discussing the theory AND the intervention. (4 points)
F: Intervention Plan: Goals and objectives
F: (as short or as long as you need): Describe your intervention plan, include three goals and two objectives for each goal. Remember to use the S.M.A.R.T. way of stating goals/objectives that we have learned about this semester. (3 points)
F: Systems
F: (3 paragraphs): How will you involve multiple systems in this case? What other systems might be involved? How might you intervene or engage other systems, such as individuals, families, organizations, or the political system to help? (1 points)
