“The Future of Nursing Informatics: Embracing Emerging Technologies and Building a Foundation of Knowledge”

If new lessons are going to be remembered and bring long-term value, effort must be taken to reflect on the experiences one has had, evaluate them in terms of whether they were positive or not, consider what one might do to alter future activities and behaviors as a result, and do concrete things to bring about real change.
The previous seven modules have laid the foundation for understanding the current state of the science in nursing informatics. This final module focuses on the future of nursing informatics, challenging students to think of what will or could be, and how their current practice setting and nursing informatics applications could evolve or develop over time. Students will learn about the power of informatics tools to develop a professional ePortfolio and to help network with other professionals to build and share professional knowledge. Finally, this module concludes by reintegrating the Foundation of Knowledge model as we look toward the future of nursing informatics.
This module explored some of the merging technologies that are in both general use and in use and development within health care. The prospect that emerging technologies may create more problems than they solve was considered. However, by having an awareness of likely and possible technological developments nurses can assess what impact they might have on the ways in which we work and live. This module addressed web-based electronic portfolios as both a social networking and professional networking tool.
Finally, the four key areas of the Foundation of Knowledge model were considered. The critical challenges for the future lie within identifying which emerging technologies will best provide the usable tools that nurses will need to manage the coming knowledge “explosion” as more information becomes available to support diagnosis, treatment, and care.
**Note: You will not have access to the Signature Assignment without first submitting the Proctored Assessment, including a verified identification and receiving confirmation from your instructor with a satisfactory grade for Module 7. You must complete this requirement to pass the course.
    Module Goals
    Goals Alignment
    Professional Standards
After completing this module, students will be able to do the following:
Distinguish between social networking and professional networking.
Compare and contrast bioinformatics, biomedical informatics, and computational biology
Outline the history of technology development and informatics applications.
Assess the state-of-the-art technologies of today.
Predict the evolution of technology and its impact on knowledge generation in nursing.
Explore the contribution of nursing informatics to the foundation of knowledge.

“Exploring the Linguistic, Cultural, and Social Challenges Faced by English Language Learners: A Comprehensive Analysis”

What is the topic of your research paper?
My topic is English Language Learners, but i want to focus on what says below.
In my research paper, I would like to give an account of students who experience learning English as an additional language, going into depth into the linguistic, cultural, and social issues that impact their way of becoming a part of society.
-I attached the directions for the research paper please follow the instructions and let me know if you have any questions .
    Rubric and Directions:
    Content
You will be scored on how objectively and thoroughly you present the research, how well you sequence the information and connect the resources, and whether or not it is easily understood.  Please refer to the scoring rubric.  You should also have your sources well-represented in the paper, i.e., do not have your paper use primarily one source throughout and include a minimal amount of information from the other sources.
Points are also based on meeting the following requirements: a title page for your paper, thesis statement is underlined in the introduction paragraph, four pages presenting research, and one page with your response to the research. The response to the research page provides you with an opportunity to use personal examples that support, or contradict, the research, as well as include your personal opinion about the research. Nowhere else in the paper should the reader be able to infer your personal opinion.
You will have six (6) double-spaced pages in all including the References page.
    References
You should have at least six references in your paper.  Your seventh page will be your References page.No more than three of the references may be websites; at least three references must be books or academic journal articles (articles located online are not considered to be websites). Note – journal articles are not blogs or news articles.  You may not have more than one personal interview, and the information from the interview should correspond with your research.  I do not recommend interviewing anyone for this assignment. You should never interview a minor without consent. These research methods are outside of the scope of this class.
In addition to having a References page at the end of your paper, you will also need to cite your sources throughout the paper using APA citation style. Each of the sources on your reference page should have an in-text citation.
    Structure
As future teachers, you will be the role model for your students in the proper use of English, both orally and in writing.  Therefore, your paper will be viewed carefully for errors in grammar (including subject-verb agreement and sentence structure), capitalization, punctuation, and spelling. The References page will also be examined for errors in structure.  I highly recommend that you use spelling and grammar check and have someone proofread your paper before you submit it. This will allow you to correct errors and make certain your information is presented clearly.  A large amount of errors can interfere with the readability of your paper and will adversely impact your score on this assignment.
    Format – General APA Guidelines
Your research paper should be typed, double-spaced on standard-sized paper (8.5” x 11”) with 1” margins on all sides. You should use a clear font that is highly readable. APA recommends using 12 pt. Times New Roman font.
You do NOT need to write an abstract!
For help formatting APA citations, go to the CSUB Writing Center or use owl.english.purdue.edu.

Artificial Food Coloring and Mutation Introduction Food is an essential part of our daily lives, providing us with the necessary nutrients and energy to sustain our bodies. However, with the increasing demand for processed and packaged food, artificial food coloring has become a common

Genotoxicology Assignment: Artificial food coloring and Mutation
Your assignment is to write a two-page report (single-spaced, NOT including the list of
references; skip one line between paragraphs) on some aspect of genotoxicology, for which you
    cite at least 10 references obtained from PubMed. It should have a story that needs a theme or a common thread that ties it all together. I have attached a short report on genotoxicology in a specific occupation;
please use it as a guide.
    Written report
The intent of this assignment is threefold:
    (a) to acquaint you with the site, Pub Med, which is an abstract service sponsored by the
    National Library of Medicine;
    (b) to demonstrate the usage of genotoxicity assays to protect us from chemical and physical
agents, in the workplace, in the environment, and in foods, that may adversely affect our
    genes and chromosomes. Some of these assays (e.g., Ames assay; Allium assay;
chromosomal aberrations, mitotic aberrations, aneuploidy, & polyploidy; micronucleus
    assay; sister chromatid exchange; comet assay) were discussed in laboratory or in lecture;
you are not limited to these assays. Cancer risks and reproductive hazards also fall within
the realm of genotoxic risks and are suitable; and
    (c) to show the correct way to cite science research publications. Please follow the format
    in the sample essay.
In your report, if you decide to include other genotoxicity tests, you must – in one or two
sentences – define the purpose of that assay. For example, “cell transformation assay” – this test
evaluates the abilities of chemical or physical agents to change normal, healthy cells into
populations of neoplastic cells. Transformation is usually monitored by the cells changing from
    substratum-dependent growth to anchorage-independent growth.
Enter the PubMed site http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/query.fcgi and search your topic with the focus on hazards to genes or to chromosomes.
NOTE: In-text citations (i.e., citations within the report itsels):
When citing a source within the text –
 If one author, then last name and year
 If two authors, cite both last names
 If more than three authors, cite the last name of the first author followed by et al. [which
means, “and others’] and the year
 When citing the genus and species name of an organism, you need to use italics,
for example, Salmonella typhimurium; terms such as et al., in vivo, in vitro, in utero, and
    in situ also require italics.
    NOTE: Bibliography (References):
When citing scientific journal articles in the bibliography:
 Last name, initials (complete first and middle names are seldom used), year, title of the
article, journal (usually, abbreviated), volume (usually, the issue number is omitted),
and first and last page of the article.
 In science publications, usually all authors are listed; however, in some journals, the
initial three authors are listed followed by “et al.,”. Either format can be used.
    .
    When citing from Internet sources:
Basic format: name of author, year, title of the work, the day that source was retrieved, and web
    address of the source.

Title: Exploring Conversations with People Who Hate Me

Module 4: Conversations with People who Hate Me
    Discussion
This is a discussion that I believe is very important to interpersonal communication, intercultural communication, and public speaking.  Dylan Marron has a podcast called “Conversations with People Who Hate Me”. I’d like you to pick one to listen to and give a summary of the conversation and then tell us how the conversation you picked fits into the course. As you navigate his page please note the transcripts are at the top and access to Spotify and Apple podcasts, etc, are toward the bottom of the page. I am fine if you use transcripts for the assignment – I prefer using transcripts myself.
Part of the reason I want us to do this is that I heard Dylan speak and he made a comment that really stuck with me. He said something along the lines of the only way we discuss difference is through the word debate and that we are really bad at talking about our differences so I’d like us to see what we find in his podcasts.
For context here is a recent interview with NPR.
The initial Post is due Thursday

Title: Factors Affecting Employee Performance: A Research-Based Discussion

The purpose of Discussion 1 is to understand those factors that impact productivity, performance, and employee satisfaction and engagement. Your readings included management theory, organizational behavior, and effective management. All of these can impact employee performance. Job performance is defined as the degree to which an employee successfully meets the requirements included in the job description. Measures of performance may include the quality or quantity of work performed by the employee, the accuracy or speed with which the job is performed and the overall effectiveness of the individual performing the job. Job performance determines whether a person is promoted, rewarded with pay raises, given additional responsibilities, or fired from the job. Job performance is one of the main outcomes studied in the field of organizational behavior. Keep this in mind as you complete the discussion assignment for weeks 1 and 2.
    Week 1:
There are many factors that can impact employee performance such as individual personality, work environment, managerial behaviors, motivational factors, and organizational culture/climate.
In this discussion, select two of the factors above and present research on how these factors positively influence employee performance.
    Follow these instructions below:
In the main course menu (located on the course Home page) go to “Academic Support” where you will find a link to the library. From the UMGC library home page enter your search terms in the OneSearch box and place a check mark for Scholarly Journals only. Find one or more articles that focus on the impact of the factors you selected on employee performance (The articles should be less than 5 years old.) If you can’t find any suitable articles when you check Scholarly Journals, then uncheck that box and see what comes up. An alternative source to use is “Google Scholar” to do your research. You may also use the library sources to research publications like Forbes, Fortune and the Harvard Business Review.
In the first paragraph, summarize the findings related to the first factor you chose. Be specific and concise. This paragraph should be no more than 5-6 sentences.
In the second paragraph, explain how a manager could apply these findings to improve performance.
In your next paragraph, summarize the findings related to the second factor you chose, writing no more than 4-6 sentences.
In your final paragraph, explain how a manager could apply these findings to improve performance.
For each article used, cite using a proper writing style. The UMGC Library has wonderful resources available to you that show you how to write and cite in a proper style (APA, MLA, Chicago).
