  • Title: Exploring the Sociological Significance of Gender Roles and Expectations

You can upload your final project here. In the case of a video or recording hosted online you can also submit the associated URL here.
Your final project for this course will be to take one concept or theory from the course as if you were teaching it to an outsider who hasn’t taken the course.
You want to select one concept or theory from the course that you would like to explain. This can be something like “deviance” or “the difference between race and ethnicity”. If you are not sure if the concept or theory you want to explain is going to be a good fit for the project you can reach out to me and we can figure it out together.
You next need to pick the format your project is going to take. You can pick any format you want: essay, short video, padlet, digital poster, etc. If you are interested in a project format but are not sure if it qualifies just message me and ask.
Next you will want to complete the Final Project Check-In Sheet . This assignment represents a chance for everyone to make sure they are on the right track with the assignment and for me to provide everyone with feedback.
The project check-in sheet will make sure that your final project includes the following elements
The incorporation of at least one theoretical perspective within your project
The explanation of at least four sociological concepts/ideas/theories within your project
For example if you choose to focus on deviance for your final project you would also need to explain concepts such as socialization, and sanctions, and you would need to explain at least one theoretical perspective on deviance be it conflict theory, structural functionalism, etc.
Properly formatted references to at least five assigned readings/videos/etc. from the course
An argument regarding the importance of the concept to society. You want to explain what would be different about society if more people had a sociological awareness of the concept you have chosen to explain

Also remember to spend a good amount of time/effort explaining why this topic is important to society
Remember that the end of your project, be it an essay, slides, video, etc. should include a list of references from the course that you drew on to complete the project
