Purpose: Social media platforms( instagram,tiktok, facebook, YouTube ) have been seen over the years for causing many of the mental problems young children and teens have suffered with over the years. What if there is a link between juvenile delinquency and the platforms?teenagers use these platforms as a way to garner attention from their peers, but over the years, these platform have become a hierarchy problem, with people the flashiest, and most dangerous garnering the most attention. As kids try to replicate this same come up(minority groups) they have had to likely due deviant things to gain these new heights of “fame”. It has been said that video games like call of duty, gta, and other violent games have been responsible for the desensitizing of children to the harsh realities of their crime. – Interconnection between the three( mass media, games , and drill music) Is social media a cause or mechanism? Is video games a cause or mechanism? Is Drill music a cause or mechanism? I don’t need a super heavy background on the topics , just a moderate one. But their relations and how they have impacted juvenile delinquents is needed. In 1-3 paragraph towards the conclusion can you also look at solutions ,recommendations or solutions that can be implemented to help the youth

Overview
This assignment is the second in a series of four assignments on the same topic, due in Weeks 2, 4, 7, and 9. The assignments build upon each other.
In this assignment, you introduce the topic problem and explain its history and how it is currently affecting the community. This sets the stage for your Week 7 assignment, in which you focus on solutions to the topic problem.
Remember, as a reporter or Department of Justice investigator, you are using your critical thinking and information literacy skills to assess an ethnic, racial, gender, or class issue causing problems for and affecting a specific community or group of people. Your goal is to provide both an in-depth analysis of and put a human face on this issue by writing an article or report that will be presented at a professional conference.
Preparation
For this assignment, write the first part of your article or report, focusing on the history of the subject, current issues, and problems caused by the issues.
Requirements
Write a 2-3 page (approximately 750-1,000 words) paper in which you:
Create an introduction for your article clearly stating the topic area and the purpose of the article or report.
Move from the general to the specific: Begin with a quote, question, statistic, or another item (from your credible sources) that grabs your reader’s interest.
End your introduction with a thesis statement explaining what you will present in your article.

Your introduction should be 1-2 paragraphs.
Describe 2-3 major historical factors of the past 50-100 years relevant to this topic area.
These factors can include social events, attitudes, wars, laws, the economy, the political environment, and the like.
Analyze how those historical factors contribute to 2-3 major current issues or problems in this topic area.
Those current issues or problems can be economic, social, political, legal, or the like.
Describe 1-2 groups of people affected by the issues and problems.

The assignment is to analyze the rise of the Occupy movement and discuss some of the reasons that is may have contributed to its decline in recent years. Review the historical origins of the Occupy Wall Street movement in Zuccotti Park, and its later migration to other countries including Canada. Discuss how its leadership (or lack of leadership) and tactics may have weakened its political impact over the last few years. Also describe some of its spin-offs into other organizations (such as Black Lives Matter), and evaluate its contributions to several different movements and their campaigns.

Social Change
Many changes have occurred since George Floyd’s death in May 2020, largely due to protests staged and attended by average people like us. 
President Biden declared Juneteenth, which commemorates the effective end of slavery in the United States, a national holiday.
People — both protestors and city workers — took down statues.  Those statues included European explorers such as Christopher Columbus, who initiated the colonization of the Americas; Confederate leaders such as Jefferson Davis, who owned slaves and fought for African American Slavery; missionaries such as Father Junipero Serra, who enslaved and tortured Americas first peoples; and even local settlers such as Sacramento’s John Sutter, who also enslaved hundreds of local native peoples.
Protestors have called to create a more just policing force, as well as to “defund the police” and use the money to create services and outreach programs instead.  People have continued to question decades of mass incarceration and the effects that it has on our communities, particularly the most vulnerable ones.
And major corporations and sports teams have finally addressed racist branding and racist mascots.  Quaker Oats removed their iconic Aunt Jemima pancakes and syrup, replacing it with Pearl Milling Company, which is the name of the company that originally produced the pancake mix.  Likewise, Dryers Ice Cream rebranded its Eskimo pie, which had an Eskimo on the wrapper, as Edy’s Pie.  Similarly, the Washington Redskins finally decided to change their name and mascot, following years of protests and similar changes in sports teams across America.  For instance, Calaveras High School retired their “Redskins” mascot and identity in June 2019, and Stanford retired their “Indian” mascot in 1970.
ESSAY TOPIC:
Racist Brands and Mascots
Frank “What is in a Name?  For Some Brands, a Racist History Primed to be Toppled” (in the Gallagher book starting on p. 300), Merskin “Winnebagos, Cherokees, Apaches, and Dakotas: The Persistence of Stereotyping Indians in American Advertising and Brands” (in the Gallagher book starting on p. 336) and the George Floyd biography, particularly chapter 14 “American Hope” are required. Be sure to cite the author for any information you use.  Cite Frank and Merskin, not Gallagher. 
You should address these questions in your essay:  
How and why did racist branding and mascots happen in the first place? What is the history of this?
Why were the brands and mascots removed? What was the logic behind it?
What do corporations and sports teams have to gain by removing racists brand and mascots?
How and why do the authors think will this help improve race relations and create a more just society?  
How and why do you think will this help improve race relations and create a more just society?
What are some of the limitations of this approach for making social change?  Limitations can be defined as a limiting condition, a weakness, or an inability to make change.  Here, I am asking for you to think about what the approach cannot change or improve. .  Please do not discuss obstacles, such as people being unwilling to make reforms or not having a budget for them.
