Develop two (2) separate social programs to reduce
recidivism and help individuals who were incarcerated reintegrate into society. Program
one is to reach out to these individuals so they know about this program and to
reach out to communities so they also know about this program and to give them
awareness and bridge them together where they can meet to be there for each
other, helping them to integrate into society. Program two is a
counseling program for these individuals to help them with the problems that
caused them to be incarcerated in the first place and to help them integrate
into society by overcoming barriers. Counseling includes individuals, groups,
and families. Both programs need to be based on social work values.
Each program needs to be two pages and should include
1) a description of
the program design,
2) the need it addresses (include community data),
3) target population,
4) description of a similar program (preferably an
evidence-based or best practice) operating
locally, nationally, or internationally used as a guide in
design work,
5) goals/objectives, and
6) basic logic model with short, intermediate, and
long-term outcomes (not a chart).

Title: “Exploring Social Work Perspectives Through the Lens of Little America”
Objective: This assignment counts towards your grade. It is important for us to be able to identify concepts that we learn in our course, in real life. As we learn about social work we learn to see the world through a social work perspective, particularly through micro, mezzo and macro lenses.
This short film is powerful because it portrays the view of someone seeing the US for the first time from their perspective. Little America describes the story of a Nigerian immigrant, who finds a connection with the Cowboy culture in Oklahoma. 1. Watch Short Film: Click play icon in box below to view film
Runs for about 32 min
2. Reflect
Reflect on all the social work concepts, theories and values you have learned up until now. Through our professional training, social workers make a commitment to empower individuals and at the same time improve society while paying special attention between interactions amongst individuals and their surroundings (recall the person-in-environmentapproach). Use introspection to reflect on the type of social work you would like to practice or eventually specialize in: micro, mezzo and/or macro:
Micro practice refers mostly to helping individuals fit better into their environments. Macro practice refers to modifying the environment so that it works better for individuals. In other words, social workers make a commitment through professional training to help people and to improve society, and to give special attention to the interactions between people and between people and their surroundings.
Mezzo Practice refers to work with families and small groups perhaps in a community setting. Many times mezzo practices is not specifically highlighted since it is sometimes subsumed under micro practice. 1. Analyze and Connect
Answer the following by making connections from the film (minimum 500 words for full credit). (total 100 points)
Choose a practice level that interests you: micro, mezzo or macro, define it (in your own words) make sure you bold the practice type you choose. (20 points)
Apply: Use Iwegbuna as a case study. How would you use the practice type you chose (above) to support your client? This is a critical question: Make sure you identify the What (micro, mezzo, macro – what support are you offering and at what level) and the how (how are you implementing this support)…(30 points)
Theory: Choose a theory from Module 2 (Strengths perspective, Empowerment, Person-In-Environment Approach, etc…) define theory (bold theory of choice) and define it. (20 points)
Overall flow and structure of reflection. For example, how you connect your professional, educational experience (what you have learned in class) with Iwegbuna’s life story, observation skills, congruence. (10 points) – don’t worry too much about grammar this is not an English class 😉
Overall thoughts about the movie (any recommendations for other documentaries pertaining to social work)? (10 points) -

The assignment you submit is expected to meet the following requirements:
Written communication: Written communication is free from errors that detract from the overall message. Length: One infographic plus one-page written document or three-minute audio/video explanation.
APA formatting: Resources and citations are formatted according to current APA Style and Format. Use Academic WriterLinks to an external site. for guidance in citing sources and formatting your paper in proper APA style. See the Writing CenterLinks to an external site. for more APA resources specific to your degree level.
Cited resources: Minimum of two scholarly sources. The assigned reading must be utilized. All literature cited should be peer-reviewed and current, with publication dates within the past five years. Can be placed in the bottom footer of the infographic. Instructions:
Part 1- Infographic
For this assignment, prepare an infographic or concept map addressing the difference between your personal and professional values and examining how personal values can create bias. Show how values will play a role in social work practice and ethical decision-making based on the lens and content of the assigned reading. Use words, images, symbols, and other media to detail your accounts. Use the assigned readings to guide the development of your infographic.
Part 2 – Explanation
Create a one-page written document or three-minute audio/video explanation of your infographic and upload it as an additional document to your infographic assignment. Use the instruction, prompts, and grading rubric to describe the components of your infographic. Be sure to include the following: Describe the difference between your personal and professional values and examine how personal values can create bias. Describe how personal and professional values play a role in social work practice and ethical decision-making. Illustrate (with images and words) the concepts of competency, integrity, boundaries, and social justice. Apply critical thinking to inform and communicate professional judgments. Lay out any ethical challenges you anticipate in the field and areas or concepts on which you can improve. Be insightful and use critical thought for this explanation. PORTLAND, Ore. — A young woman died after falling off a cliff while hiking in Oregon’s Columbia River Gorge, officials said Monday.
Elisha Angelic Macias, 22, was hiking with friends Sunday near Horsetail Falls, about 35 miles east of Portland. After separating from the group and going off trail, she fell an estimated 50 to 60 feet, the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office said in an emailed statement. No one in the group saw her fall.
Macias was from Hillsboro, about 20 miles west of Portland, officials said.
Around 4:20 p.m. on Sunday, a 911 caller reported seeing someone fall from a cliff near the Oneonta Trailhead, officials said. A few minutes later, a second caller also reported the fall and said bystanders were performing CPR.

“Navigating Budgets in Social Work Leadership: Creating a Comprehensive Budget for a Rural Transportation Project”
Introduction
If you have never taken a course in budgeting and finance, how are you to create a comprehensive budget for your project that will meet the funder’s requirements? As a social work leader, you will find yourself in administrative positions, and many of these require knowledge of budgets. There is a saying in social work that you do not always have to know the answer, but you have to be willing to find it. That analogy works with budget education. There are many grant templates that address budgets. The funding source may even provide a template for their purposes.
As you prepare to create your legitimate budget for your Week 8 assignment, where are the areas that align well with your existing agency budget and where are their conflicts? Consider whether new staff will be hired. Who will be responsible for the benefits part of the salary. If salary is not covered in the grant requirements, how will you ethically reassign existing staff to the grant positions? How else might you fund some of the expenses your new project will require so that you can claim matching funds? When money is involved, the need for ethical practices is required. How will you ensure ethical use of grant monies? Share both your experiences and your future concerns with colleagues. Cite all sources of information.
The project is: Transportation for needy families in the rural Mississippi delta.
