Paper Writing Hints: For
Paper I, start the paper broadly and then narrow your focus (think about the
hourglass example provided in the lecture). My suggestion is to give a brief
overview of your paper topic in your opening paragraph, hinting at the research
variables that you plan to look at for study one. Your next paragraphs will
review prior research (that is, the five references required for this paper).
Make sure that you draw connections between these references rather than just
listing them. Use smooth transitions between paragraphs and build a case that
supports your study predictions. Your final paragraphs will use the research
you just summarized to support your hypothesis. And yes, that means you MUST
include your study one predictions in Paper I (which we provided in the
researcher instructions, the debriefing statement, and at the end of these
instructions. Use those predictions! They go at the end of your Paper I). Another
good hint is to look at the literature reviews of the articles that you are
using as references as you write your own paper! See what those authors did in
their literature reviews and mimic their literature review style. Keep in mind
that Paper I will end with your hypothesis (and your references) rather than
moving directly into your study methods. In Paper II, you will pick the topic
up again and discuss your study methods, results, and discussion. Paper I thus merely
leads up to your study one.

Paper I: Study One Literature Review is to teach you proper American

“Hello classmates,
When it comes to studying aphasia, the type of aphasia can be very helpful when it comes to tracking what part of the brain is affecting. For example, the symptoms of Sarah Scott in Byron Peterson show the differences that can be seen indifferent types of aphasia. By that I mean nonfluent aphasia versus fluent aphasia, the symptoms of both of these play a big role as to what particular part of the brain it affects. So, being that the Wernicke area part of the brain is the center for comprehension and planning words, so when you see symptoms such as being able to keep fluent word pattern, but sometimes the words seem to be incorrect or made-up, it is more probable that this is the area of the brain that is being affected. The Broca area part of the brain is more so located in the inferior frontal area of the brain, this area is more responsible for motor execution of speech and sentence formation. This being the case, when you meet someone who has nonfluent aphasia and see symptoms such as constant struggle to get words out in speaking in very short sentences it is more likely that this form of aphasia came from the Broca area of the brain (Le & Lui, 2023). In Sarah Scott’s case, we saw nonfluent aphasia and in Byron Peterson’s case we saw fluent aphasia. There was a case with a woman named Melba Ashburn who had a stroke at 79 years old unexpectedly. After she had her stroke, she had aphasia and as a treatment they had to start with reteaching her language like a first grader as she put it (Feelings After a Stroke – My Story – the National Aphasia Association, 2015). Through this process she had to relearn numbers and practice with numbers, she said when it came to her zip code, she would use that to practice. Also, when it came to her language she would have to write down members of her family to practice with, but eventually she was able to get the hang of it. Melba Had nonfluent aphasia, but through the treatment of having to constantly and consistently go to her therapist to help her with her speech she’s still keeps the mentality of there is a life after a stroke (Feelings After a Stroke – My Story – the National Aphasia Association, 2015).

Overview
Our data set contains many variables related to course-specific performance and overall GPA. In looking at the grades for the course, the teacher sees that students in one section performed much better on the third quiz than the students in the other two sections of the course. The teacher is concerned about why students taking identical quizzes in each section are performing so differently. She hypothesizes that one section might comprise students with higher overall GPAs and therefore are stronger students than those in the other two sections. To see if removing the variance in quiz 3 that is explained by the GPA of the students, you will perform a one-way ANCOVA using the variables quiz 3, GPA, and section.

First, read through this detailed history of the condition GAD, paying particular attention to the points of contention/ areas of concern in delineating the disorder from other conditions. Then skim these articles on the overlap of GAD and MDD and whether anxiety should actually be a mood disorder.
Read through the main diagnostic tools for identifying GAD, the DSM and ICD-11. As you do, pay particular attention to how (1) they are different from each other and (2) how these diagnostic criteria try to say what the disorder is not. Find one contemporary research article on GAD and skim it for recent findings Synthesize the materials from the first three steps to construct a 2-3 page (double spaced) paper to argue whether or not you think Generalized Anxiety Disorder is “really” a disorder.
