PSY 215 Module One Milestone Template
Using
this template, respond to the below prompts, which focus on deconstructing the
stigma associated with abnormal behavior. Support your position with a minimum
of 3 to 5 sentences per bullet, using credible sources. Complete this template
by replacing the bracketed text with the relevant information.
·
Often a person describes an
abnormal behavior as weird—a term that can elicit a range of emotional
responses (e.g., fear, anger, guilt, curiosity, withdrawal, compassion).
Describe a common psychological reaction
that a person might have after hearing this description of the behavior of
another person.
[Insert text]
·
Describe why witnessing an
abnormal behavior may cause a person to experience psychological discomfort.
[Insert text]
·
Describe the feelings a person may
experience when witnessing a behavior that deviates
from the norm.
[Insert text]
·
Ironically, it is normal to
perceive abnormal behavior as atypical, uncomfortable, or strange. However, the
labels that we use to describe abnormal behavior could contribute to its
stigma. In your own words, describe how abnormalities in the mind are not really different from other physical or biological abnormalities.

“Exploring the Localization of Linguistic Processing in the Brain through the Study of Aphasia: A Discussion on the Cases of Sarah Scott and Byron Peterson” “The Importance of Incorporating Theory and Research in Opinion Statements”

Unit 2.1 DB
Aphasia, a language disorder often resulting from brain injury or stroke, provides valuable insights into the localization of linguistic processing in the brain. By examining the cases of Sarah Scott and Byron Peterson, who exhibit distinct types of aphasia, we can elucidate the roles of specific brain regions in language comprehension and production. Sarah, afflicted with Broca’s aphasia, demonstrates slow, labored speech marked by difficulty in articulating words (SymphUK, 2010). Conversely, Byron, suffering from Wernicke’s aphasia, speaks fluently but produces nonsensical utterances (Tactus Therapy, 2015).
Broca’s aphasia implicates damage to Broca’s area, located in the left frontal lobe, which plays a crucial role in speech production and grammatical processing (Owens, 2020). Sarah’s struggle to articulate words and construct coherent sentences highlights the impairment in this region. In contrast, Wernicke’s aphasia stems from damage to Wernicke’s area, situated in the left temporal lobe, responsible for language comprehension and semantic processing (Owens, 2020). Byron’s fluent but meaningless speech indicates a disruption in understanding and organizing language input.
These divergent symptoms underscore the distinct functions of Broca’s and Wernicke’s areas in linguistic processing. Broca’s area facilitates the conversion of thoughts into spoken words and the grammatical structuring of language, while Wernicke’s area enables the comprehension of auditory information and the retrieval of lexical and semantic knowledge (Owens, 2020). Consequently, Broca’s aphasia primarily affects speech production, whereas Wernicke’s aphasia impairs language comprehension and semantic coherence.
Moreover, the study of aphasia provides valuable insights into the neural mechanisms underlying auditory processing, message decoding, and message formulation and production. Broca’s and Wernicke’s areas are integral components of a broader language network involving interconnected regions responsible for various aspects of language processing (Owens, 2020). Damage to these areas disrupts the flow of information within this network, resulting in language deficits characteristic of aphasia.
In addressing the treatment or intervention for stroke patients, evidence-based approaches grounded in theories such as social cognitive theory and intervention mapping offer effective strategies for improving language function and quality of life (Owens, 2020). These interventions aim to enhance communication skills, mitigate language impairments, and facilitate functional recovery through targeted therapy and rehabilitation programs tailored to individual needs.
In conclusion, the contrasting symptoms exhibited by Sarah and Byron elucidate the distinct roles of Broca’s and Wernicke’s areas in linguistic processing. Through the study of aphasia, we gain valuable insights into the neural substrates underlying language comprehension and production, thereby informing the development of effective interventions for stroke patients and individuals with language disorders.
Question: “What insights into the localization of linguistic processing in the brain can be gained from studying the contrasting cases of Sarah Scott and Byron Peterson’s aphasia experiences?”

Exploring the Impact of Artificial Intelligence on the Legal Profession: Challenges and Opportunities for Future Professionals “Crafting a Comprehensive APA Style Paper: A Guide for Students”
Present a defined opportunity or challenge in your potential future field of work that you have researched extensively
Make clear your audience is a discourse community of professionals in your field who already do this work every day
Use the language, definitions, and terminology that professionals use, rather than simplifying/summarizing
Discuss important ideas you have explored in your research of sources that include journalistic, professional, and academic publications
Divide your subject into three or more sub-sections to allow you to demonstrate that you have created some depth of knowledge, rather than just a superficial acquisition of facts
and SHOULD NOT:
try to “teach” or “inform” a professional audience
try to argue or persuade, but instead present your knowledge/understanding
explore any aspects of employment — a “job” or “jobs in the field”
REQUIRED CONTENT ELEMENTS
A formal academic essay 2,000 words or more in length
An interesting title that speaks to your professional audience
An Introduction
An Overview section to present the “big picture” of the topic you explore
Three Subsections, each exploring a separate aspect of the big picture – the parts that make up the whole
A Conclusion that demonstrates the knowledge you have created for yourself and why it matters to you.
INTRODUCTION
ONE PARAGRAPH
Avoids a general introduction and begins with the specifics of your topic.
Written for your professional audience
Introduces your opportunity or challenge
Includes your own exigence/reason for speaking, AND and why you are a credible author worthy of the audience’s attention
Our class example for this idea was “As a college student studying for a future in _____, my exploration of this opportunity will help better prepare me to join those current leading the field after graduation.”) Don’t copy this.
OVERVIEW SECTION
ONE SUBSTANTIAL PARAGRAPH, or no more than two paragraphs if needed
Summarizes your understanding of the “big picture” of the opportunity/challenge you are exploring in the essay.
Outlines the current state of affairs regarding your very narrow topic
Uses definitions of key terms, statistics and/or visual elements to demonstrate your understanding
Presents the three specific subtopics you will be exploring for the rest of the essay
THREE SUBSECTIONS
Each of your THREE SUBSECTIONS should include ALL of these elements:
a Subtitle that introduces the specific content of the section
a brief introductory paragraph that explains the key ideas of this subsection, how this subsection relates to your overall exploration, AND why it is important
at least 1-2 body paragraphs that explore the key ideas you have learned from your research of this sub-topic
a topic sentence for each body paragraph, explaining the key idea to be discussed; paragraph discussion is LIMITED ONLY to that key idea for the entire paragraph
discussion of credible research from at least 2-3 different sources to demonstrate the knowledge you have created from your reading and analysis
in-text citations for all sources referred to in the subsection (AVOID extensive quoting; paraphrase the ideas of sources in your own words)
a concluding paragraph at the end of the subsection that summarizes the subsection and its relation to your overall exploration
CONCLUSION
Your Conclusion should present a summary of your key findings — how each of your subtopics has contributed to a deeper knowledge of your subject. It should also address how the work you have done has helped you achieve your Purpose (see above), providing preparation for your future career.

The Comparison of Objective and Projective Methods of Personality Assessment: An Evaluation of Techniques and Recommendations for Improvement
In this assignment, you will compare projective and objective methods of personality assessment. Research a minimum of three peer-reviewed articles in the University of Arizona Global Campus Library that were published within the last 15 years on these techniques. In your paper, you will provide an evaluation of these techniques organized according to the outline provided below. Use information from your researched peer-reviewed articles and required sources to support your work in each section.
Section 1: Objective Personality Assessment
Define the term objective in objective methods of personality assessment.
Summarize the features of objective methods of personality assessment, and provide at least three examples of these types of measures.
Explain the assumptions on which objective methods are based, and provide an analysis of empirical research testing the validity of the assumptions you identified.
Appraise the research exploring the technical adequacy (i.e., reliability and validity) of objective tests.
Describe the impact of social and culture variability on the administration and interpretation of objective tests.
Section 2: Projective Personality Assessment
Define the term projective in projective methods of personality assessment.
Summarize the features of projective methods of personality assessment, and provide at least three examples of these types of measures.
Explain the assumptions on which projective methods are based, and provide an analysis of empirical research testing the validity of the assumptions you identified.
Appraise the research exploring the technical adequacy (i.e., reliability and validity) of projective tests.
Describe the impact of social and culture variability on the administration and interpretation of projective tests.
Section 3: Synthesis, Conclusions, and Recommendations
Write a brief one-paragraph scenario for a fictitious client. Include the following information: presenting concerns (reason for referral), age, gender, ethnicity, language(s), and any other significant information (e.g., military status, health issues, marital status, sexual orientation, etc.).
Debate the arguments supporting and opposing the use of projective and objective personality assessments with your identified client.
Select a minimum of one objective and one projective measure to use with your client. Compare the use of the selected projective and objective personality measures with your identified client. Note: It is common for there to be a delay between the time a test publisher updates a test and the time the textbook and other authors can update their information about the new version of the test. Be sure to do online research to make sure you are recommending the most current version of the tests. If there is a newer version than the version discussed in the textbook or other readings, recommend the newest version.
Analyze the advantages and limitations of each assessment measure you selected.
Compose recommendations to improve the validity of personality assessment.

“Psychological Testing Mock Report: Exploring Personality Traits and Behaviors through Objective Interpretation and Subjective Observations”
So… this assignment has already started. I have a good 6 pages so far with some of the sections done. I need to have 14-20 pages. This is not a typical essay. It is a psychological testing mock report. The paper is broken up into sections. I need someone who knows how to interpret scores and write about them objectively. I have talked about behavioral observations in the paper, which can be used as material to write about some stuff subjectively. Below I have provided ALL RELEVANT material for the assignment. I have provided instructions, ALL power points with the information, screenshots of the results from the mock tests, and the started-on assignment. The power points should have the interpretation information for the NEO-PI, HTP, and the others. If not, you need to find a couple of scholarly sources that are about the tests. For the experience section, I just want to note that I really enjoyed administering the tests. I was nervous of doing it incorrectly but overall the whole process was enjoyable. The only part I do not like is how long the report needs to be.
-I will also be providing an example of someone else’s paper for layout purposes so you see how it is supposed to look like.
The personality test PDF is the already started one that needs to be completed.
