  • “The Milgram Experiment: A Critical Evaluation of Popular and Scholarly Reports” Title: “Milgram’s Obedience Study: A Critical Analysis of its Portrayal in Scholarly and Popular Media”

you will write a four-page paper (double-spaced, 1 inch margins, and 12-point font). It is
important to be a critical consumer of research. Research reports can sometimes be misleading
because authors “cherry pick” the findings to report (“Sub-group analysis”) and certain other
things to get an article accepted. You will find one scholarly article describing a study done by a
clinical or counseling psychologist or a psychologist doing clinically-relevant research, that has
also been reported on in the popular press. You will read both the popular article that describes
the findings from the journal article, AND the actual journal article.
 You will write a paper that critically evaluates this popular report compared to the scholarly
article. Questions might include What did the popular article get right? What did it get wrong?
Was the popular article well-written and clear? Why or why not? Did the popular article convey
the main points of the research article? How would you make the popular article better?
 Turn in this paper, a copy of the popular article, and a copy of the journal article together. Due
date: See “Class Schedule” below. DON’T PROCRASTINATE!
 The term paper should use APA style formatting, which among other things includes:
    1. Cover page – A missing title page will result in a 5-point deduction of this assignment grade.
Include paper title, CLASS NAME AND NUMBER, and YOUR NAME
    2. Body – 4-5 pages (not including cover and reference pages):
    a. At least 3 headings of your choice are required; however, you may include
more headings if you prefer. Less than 3 headings will result in a deduction of
    2 points per missing heading.
    b. Points will be deducted for papers less than 4 full pages (5 points per full page,
3 points per half page, 2 points per quarter page). Points will also be deducted
for “creative” (NON-APA STYLE) margins, spacing, etc.
    c. BE SURE TO PROPERLY CITE PARAPHRASED INFORMATION AND
DIRECT QUOTES in the BODY OF THE PAPER.
    3. Separate references page.
    4. This paper requires a minimum of 5 references.
    5. One reference must be your textbook and one reference must be a peer-
    reviewed journal article.
    6. The other three references may be books, peer-reviewed journal articles, and/or other
    reputable sources.
    7. PLEASE SEE THE LIBRARIAN/WRITING SUPPORT RESOURCES BELOW FOR A
FULL UNDERSTANDING OF WHAT IS A “REPUTABLE SOURCE”.
    8. Please be cautious when using online resources, as many are not reviewed for
accuracy, and are NOT “reputable sources”
    9. One site you that you MAY NOT USE as a reference is Wikipedia; use of this
website will result in a deduction of a minimum of 5 points.
    10. All books, articles, websites, and other references must be properly listed on the
reference page and cited within the body of your paper. Failure to list a citation on the
reference page or cite a reference within the body of your paper will result in a
deduction of a minimum of 2 points for each oversight.
    11. Additionally, generally not citing where needed will result in reduction of a minimum of 5
points and a maximum of 10 depending on the severity of the oversight.
The paper should be in 12-point Times New Roman font, with standard 1-inch margins,
and formatted in formal APA style. Refer to the Publication Manual of the American
Psychological Association. regarding proper formatting for a literature search paper.
 PLEASE READ THIS: YOUR WRITTEN WORK WILL BE GRADED ON WRITING
EFFECTIVENESS. THAT IS, STANDARD LANGUAGE USAGE, GENERAL CLARITY,
READABILITY, LACK OF CONFUSING GRAMMAR/INCORRECT SPELLING/UNCLEAR
    SENTENCE STRUCTURE OR LOGIC.

Here are some steps to guide you if you choose to focus on Milgram’s study: i want to do my paper on milgrams study and i used chatgpt to use this format
Find the Original Study: Look for Milgram’s original research article, titled “Behavioral Study of Obedience” published in 1963 in the Journal of Abnormal and Social Psychology. This will serve as your scholarly article.
Select a Popular Media Article: Find a recent article from a reputable newspaper, magazine, or online platform that discusses Milgram’s experiment. This will help you analyze how the study is presented to the general public versus the academic community.
    Critical Analysis:
Compare how the results and implications of Milgram’s experiment are presented in both the scholarly article and the popular media article.
Evaluate the accuracy of the popular media report: Does it correctly represent the methods, results, and ethical considerations of Milgram’s study?
Discuss whether the media report simplifies complex issues, omits important information, or sensationalizes the findings to attract a broader audience.
    Writing the Paper:
Introduction: Introduce Milgram’s study, its historical context, and its relevance today.
Main Body: Use at least three sections to critically analyze the portrayal of the study in the popular media compared to the scholarly article.
Conclusion: Summarize your findings and suggest ways to improve public understanding of psychological research based on your analysis.
References: Ensure you include references from both the original study and the popular article, along with other academic sources that discuss the experiment’s impact and ethical considerations.
i need five sources, and i need you to attach the orginal source and popular source seperately please as i need to turn those in seperately.
one of the sources needs to be the book which is Pomerantz, A. (2023). Clinical Psychology: Science, Practice and Culture (6th Ed).

PURPOSE Aggression and violence are complex social problems that are best understood using multidisciplinary approaches. Drawing from research and theoretical frameworks covered in this course, you will apply what you have learned and explore one of the most bizarre and intriguing phenomena in human behavior, the serial killer. Examining the lives of serial killers offers a useful learning tool because their behavior is unquestionably aggressive and often depicts the most extreme cases of violence. The purpose of this research paper is to facilitate making connections between theory, research, and the real-world implications triggered by such violent behavior.
OBJECTIVES The main object of this assignment is to research a serial killer of your choice and explain his or her actions with the theories and concepts discussed throughout this course. After completing this research paper, you will be able to recognize the key theories and concepts discussed in chapters 2 and 4 of your book. Additionally, you will have expanded your knowledge of the physiology and psychology of human aggression and violence.
TASKS 1. Content: The content of your paper must address the three parts discussed below. You need to incorporate theories, concepts, and research discussed throughout this course and/or from your book.
Part 1: Biographical Information – What was the individual’s life like? Upbringing? Criminal behavior? What was his/her childhood like? Childhood behavioral problems? Schooling? Did he/she marry? Have any children? Sexual orientation? Social behavior? (1 page)
Part 2: Criminal Activity – What were the nature of the crimes? How many victims? Any specific victim characteristics? Did the killer take souvenirs and/or leave a signature? What is their “modus operandi” (method of doing something)? Time span for the crimes? What was his/her behavior when caught? What was he/she charged with and sentenced to? Is he/she still alive? (1 page)
Part 3: Analysis/Characterizing the Serial Killer – Attempt to analyze the killer’s behavior from any of the approaches discussed in Alvarez and Bachman (your textbook) and additional sources. Give specific examples of how the individual’s behavior connects with at least one theory and one concept discussed in class. Finally, based on the Gradations of Evil Scale, note which category number is most appropriate and include your reasons. (3-4 pages)
    2. Reflection: You are required to complete a one-page reflection paper explaining why you chose this specific killer. This reflection is intended to be your viewpoint, as such, no references are needed. You may wish to consider the ways your culture, social setting, ethnicity, sex, or upbringing has affected your beliefs about serial killers. You also may reflect on any assumptions you may have had prior to your research and if so, how your background norms and beliefs have influenced these assumptions.
    3. References: A minimum of 6 references should be used, with at least 3 sources being from peer-reviewed journals. Note the following:
You must count your book as a reference.
Unacceptable sources of information: Wikipedia, Murderpedia, and/or opinion blogs. These tend to be biased and unreliable. Always look for the original source of information.
References need to be typed in current APA format. This includes all in-text citations.
SPECIFICATIONS Five to six pages of content and a one-page reflection, for a total of 6-7 pages. NO MORE THAN 7 WRITTEN PAGES WILL BE CONSIDERED.
    Paper must be double-spaced.
The Content of your paper should not be written in first person (i.e., avoid using “I,” “we,” or “us”). The Reflection portion is the only place to use 1st person since you are giving YOUR point of view.
Paper and references are to be written in APA format, 7th edition.
    NO running head is required.
In-text citations MUST be cited in APA format. If the words written on your paper are not your own, you must cite the original source of information.
All citations must have a date of print.
    Plagiarism
If the words written in your paper are not your own, you need to cite the original source of information. This can be flagged as plagiarized, and you will receive a zero.
Before officially submitting your research paper, check your similarity score on Turn It In. If your paper is flagged over 40%, you will automatically receive a ZERO.
Paper must be submitted through Canvas by 11:59pm on the due date. I suggest submitting earlier to avoid a “submission error” on Canvas.
Absolutely NO LATE PAPERS will be accepted. If you could not upload the paper on Canvas or if you do not submit the paper in the required format, I will not accept it late. You will get a zero.
PAPER FORMAT Title Page: Include a title, your name, class, and date. All centered.
Content: The following 5-6 pages should be the content of your research, as noted above in Parts 1-3. Make sure to use section headings (Biographical Information; Criminal Activity; Analysis)
Reflection: Following the content, a page titled “Reflection” should be included. This additional 1 page should be the reflection portion of your paper.
References: The last page should be titled “References.” All references that you used, including the book, should be written in current APA format.

Refer to the instructor announcements for further instruction. Create a brochure on conception and prenatal development. Select one of the provided scenarios and then address the following factors below:
Scenario 1: A couple is expecting a baby and the pregnancy was not planned. They are meeting with various groups and individuals (i.e., medical doctor, Planned Parenthood, pastor, adoptive parents) to help them make an informed decision about the pregnancy. The couple is given an educational brochure from the agency or individual they met with to help support their decision.

  • “Improving Academic Success for College Students with ADHD: A Literature Review and IRB Application for Institutional Review Board”

I recently turned in a literature review that is part of a research proposal and made a 0/30. I am going to attach the orginal paper that I scored a 0/30, and the one with the annoted revision comments from my professor and my version of a revision. (I tried to change the direction on if it but I’m still not sure if it is right). But, basically the whole thing needed to be done over because my professor said it was more like a research paper and not a literature review. In addition to this, I also need my discussion board post completed. It is only the Application for Institutional Review Board. The whole top section about myself & my professor can be left blank. I will link a youtube video that my professor provided step-by-step for this here: https://youtu.be/CxzpZNu0D3Y. I have also attached the instructions for this discussion board. Only pages 2,3,&4 should be completed by you. The rest I can plug in. Thank you.
