Title: Fearfully and Wonderfully Made: The Unique Creation of Humans for a Relationship with God
Essay: Fearfully and Wonderfully Made Assignment
In the “Biology of Behavior” chapter, the authors of your textbook write: “We are fearfully and
wonderfully made, and the complexity of our brain is amazing evidence of God’s creation. Also,
the complexity of our brain uniquely positions humans to be able to have a relationship with
God.” Using information from the textbook to support your responses, answer the following:
What information on our nervous system and brain stands out to you as evidence that we
have been uniquely created to be able to have a relationship with God?
How does the information from chapter 2 support the biblical view that we are “fearfully
and wonderfully made” and uniquely created for God himself? -
Understanding Sensory Integration and Techniques for Helping Individuals with Sensory Issues Sensory Integration: Understanding and Supporting Individuals with Sensory Issues
Write out your understanding of Sensory Integration and some techniques that can help anyone with sensory issues. We all place somewhere on the sensory scales. You are not just learning about SPD. Sensory Processing Disorder. Feel free to use other resources to broaden your understanding. However, be sure to use the sources I have given you first and make them the basis of your paper. All of them. Additional aspects are good and can get you extra points. Demonstrate your understanding in your paper and cite your sources. In using what I put up on the web page should be credited to Jean Ayers.
What is it? That is sensory integration…not SPD.
Why is it significant?
Why is it so important to be aware of these issues?
What can we do to help? Not just children with significant issues but everyone in general?
Where are you in the Sensory scale?
Your own experience with this subject…what do you realize now ?
Please discuss your own observations of this in yourself or others, as children or presently. Use your own questionnaire in this section along with other observations you may have.

Outline for the Application of Psychology Paper “Exploring Schizotypal Personality Disorder through the Character of Arthur Fleck in the Movie Joker” “Exploring Schizotypal Personality Disorder in Good Will Hunting: A Psychodynamic Perspective”
This semester you will write an Applied Final Project titled, Application of Psychology Paper. The final paper will be due during Week 7. The paper provides you an opportunity to apply psychological theory and research in the exploration of the book or film you submitted for approval during Week 2. (Recall, submission was made via the Application of Psychology Topic forum).
This week, your goal is to briefly outline the major sections of the Application of Psychology Paper, providing references at the end of your outline in APA Format. Two of the references used must be from scholarly, peer-reviewed journal articles. Your outline should be 2-4 pages and be descriptive enough that I can get a sense of what the content of your paper will include. This is imperative so I can give you good feedback on your outline to enhance your final paper.
Please look at the outline tips document created especially for this assignment as well as this sample outline and sample paper from a previous student. The outline tips document is important. It connects you with tips, guidelines, and resources to build the outline. Please note that the student sample outline uses complete sentences. This is not required for a good outline, but the level of detail in the content is what is required. The sample outline is a product from a student who did well and was willing to share his outline as an example for future classes. Please, do not duplicate the movie, disorder, or content of this example outline in any way.
Supporting Resources:
The UMGC Citing and Writing Guide, is great for help with APA Style in-text citations and references. You can also take advantage of the UMGC Effective Writing Center to gain early feedback and assistance with APA compliance. WRITING CENTER

Title: A Look Into Schizotypal Personality Disorder as Illustrated in Joker
I. Introduction
A. Introductory Statement: Joker depicts a man who is seen struggling in a world who has no regard for him and his mental state. Arthur’s mental health causes a lot of people in his life to dismiss him, which later leads to a different image of himself that was previously portrayed. B. Thesis Statement: In this paper, I will explore the symptoms, causes, lifestyle impacts, and treatments of schizotypal personality disorder (SPD) through the main character Arthur Fleck, in the movie Joker. II. Body
A. Summarize the Media/Movie (Topic Sentence): Joker is a movie about a troubled man, who is seems to be struggling to make ends meet both in a physical and mental sense. The main character, Arthur works for a clown business and finds joy in coming to work every day to make people laugh. While, he is alone, a different side is portrayed. The movie takes place in Gotham City, during this time it is seen to be very gloomy and filled with crime and poverty.
1. Arthur suffers from mental illness. One of the main traits includes laughing when he is uncomfortable. One day while at work advertising a store with a sign, a group of teenagers take his sign while repeatedly kicking and punching him. In this scenario, the joker’s reaction is laughter.
2. One day while the joker and his neighbor were in an elevator, they have a brief conversation. This isolated incident leads him to create the illusion that he is involved in a romantic relationship with said neighbor.
3. On a subway ride home, Arthur finds trouble when he notices four men harassing a woman. Instead of intervening, he starts laughing uncontrollably which draws the men over to him, then a fight ensues. Arthur shoots and kills the men on the train station, which causes a great deal of media attention.
4. After admitting to the murders, Arthur appears on a nationally syndicated television talk show. While on the show the Joker begins to tell a joke. “What do you get when you cross a mentally ill loner with a society that abandons him and treats him like trash?!” (Joker (2019) – IMDb, 2020) Talk show host looks surprised but doesn’t respond. The joker responds by shooting and killing the talk show host on national TV. The media responded by giving him praise to showcase the divide between the upper- and lower-class citizens.
B. Summarize Research on Psychological Concepts (Topic Sentence): Researchers suggests that SPD can be the result of environmental factors, such as childhood experiences or could have been passed down from your family.
1. SPD can include symptoms such as odd beliefs, speech, behavior or appearance, paranoia, social anxiety, inappropriate responses (American Psychiatric Association, 2013; Walsh, 2017)
2. Childhood trauma has a high association with members who have been diagnosed with SPD, including physical sexual, and emotional abuse; physical and emotional neglect; and household dysfunction (Ridenour, 2016).
3. Untreated SPD can cause disruptions in social, emotional, and occupational functioning. In Overstreet vs. Wilson (2012), Michael Overstreet kidnapped murdered Kelly Eckart. The defendant claimed to suffer from schizotypal personality disorder.
4. SPD can be treated with medication and psychotherapy that can be used to cope with the different symptoms. Cognitive behavioral therapy, Antipsychotic medications, and antidepressants all play a huge part in regulating symptoms to help people living with STPD live a normal life. (American Psychiatric Association, 2013; The Saylor Foundation, n.d.)
C. Apply Psychological Concepts to Movie (Topic Sentence): Arthur Fleck comes from a very underprivileged background. Living in Gotham City, where crime rates are through the roof, the world does not sit back and take a second to help. Instead, this society places the mentally ill under lots of discrimination and rejection. 1. Throughout this film, Arthur exhibited a lot of symptoms such as social anxiety, odd appearance and inappropriate responses, delusions, and violent outbursts.
2. Due to Arthur’s environment and lack of attention to his illness, directly caused him to go off the deep end with some of his actions.
3. He tried to seek treatment but did not get it, so his symptoms worsened.
III. Conclusion
A. Closing Statement: Arthur struggled in a society that did not see him, and was tormented both a physical and mental sense. Many people struggle with discrimination when it comes to mental illness. Sometimes discrimination is not as apparent as we might think.
B. Restate Thesis: I have explored the symptoms, lifestyle impact and treatments of schizotypal personality disorder through the main character Arthur Fleck, in the movie Joker. References

The Multidimensional Approach to Psychopathology: Exploring Strengths and Limitations
The Midterm Exam is based on all readings and material
covered through Weeks 1-4.
Here’s the textbook Reference:
Maddux, J.E., & Winstead, B.A. (Eds.). (2016). Psychopathology: Foundations for a contemporary understanding (4th ed.). Routedge. https://ebookcentral.proquest.com/lib/apus/reader.action?docID=2194932&ppg=16&tm=1509116055586
You must use the textbook as your primary
source – and connect to the question AND properly cite and
reference the textbook in APA 7th edition in each answer.
In summary:
Answers must be paraphrased (restated in
your own words with no quoting permitted), properly APA format
source credited – including within-answer citations and references included at
the end of each answer.
And you MUST have at least 300 words each
per question, not counting source citations and references.
Answers should be succinct, thorough, articulated in
well-organized paragraphs (NOTE: the use of generative AI, lists,
sentence fragments, and bulleted items are not permitted), and your answers
should be more substantive than just word-for-word definitions
of terms, procedures, or issues.
Questions:
1. Explain the inadequacies of the various historical
perspectives on psychopathology, and explain why the concept of a
multidimensional integrative approach to psychopathology appears to be the most
logical choice to understanding mental disorders
2. What are some of the main strengths and limitations of using
an atheoretical, categorical approach as found in the DSM-5?
3. What lifestyle and behavioral variables correlate with a
greater chance of suicide attempts and completion?
4. What is the defining difference between making a diagnosis
of Major Depressive Disorder versus Bipolar Disorder? What variables are
associated with a better treatment outcome? A poorer treatment outcome?
5. Discuss the gender differences found in personality
disorders. Give specific examples of disorders where gender differences occur.
Do the disparities indicate differences between men and women in certain basic
experiences that are genetic, sociocultural, or both, or do they represent
biases on the part of the clinicians who make the diagnoses? -
“The Role of Concepts, Prototypes, Schemas, and Mental Images in Cognition: A Discussion”
This is supposed be a reply post on this subject. (you reply to it and add your own insight on the material) the post to reply to is:
What are the basic elements of cognition? Let us start with concepts and prototypes, what does a concept represent? What are examples of prototypes? Concepts are cognitive things that we understand to be, such as good or bad, right or wrong, justice and injustice, but it could also be different things we look at each day and we can understand are different such as; cars, airplanes, boats, bicycles and even differentiating between a television screen and a computer screen. Because we understand the concepts in which they are based on we can determine their place in the world because we have all been shown they are that way. Prototypes, they are the literal definition of “lead by example”, a person can be the first to start a movement and because of that multitudes of individuals follow and example, it does not necessarily have to be a multitude, your parents for example can show you how to do thing the right way or the wrong way, to you that is the prototype on which you base the choices and actions you take in your life. A prototype in short is the original “model” from which you learned something, whether of value or not, the point is you had to learn it from somewhere and that somewhere was the prototype.
What is a schema? A schema is how we put order to situations, places, or events, if you go to a library you know that there is an order to that place, you understand that there are books and that you will find them in order and the information you seek will be in there. To explains it in an easier way, all it means is that your brain needs a way to organize things so that it does not get confused, there is an order to thing, to all things and by understanding that you are able to move with purpose and direction, all of this is of course is learned over time and as you progress in life, that is what a schema is. Finally, what is a mental image? A mental image is what you see in your mind when you think for example, how big is a place versus a car? Immediately you think of a plane next to a car, am I right? Well that is a mental image, when you think of something that is not there, that is a mental image. A box, a circle, a hexagon, the moon, the sun, cloud patterns, they are all examples of mental imaging, as long as you’ve seen it before or if someone explains it to you, if you can imagine it then it is a mental image.
