part 1
Please respond to the following:
Provide a discussion that compares and contrasts the differences between single case research designs (SCRD) and group research designs used to investigate the effectiveness of interventions (e.g., studying a problem in an applied setting).
Make sure to include a detailed description of the characteristics of SCRD, including the considerations regarding internal and external validity.
Explain the primary purpose of a comparative, component, and parametric analysis, and provide an original example of how each might be used as part of a single case research design and incorporated purposefully into a practical intervention plan.
part 2
Understanding the “when” and “why” of a research design is an important part of organizing and reporting intervention results. Now that you have gained some insight into some common designs used in research and practice, it is time to put that knowledge to work.
Please respond to the following:
Explain the guidelines for utilizing a Withdrawal and Changing Criterion design.
Provide a short discussion on the internal and external validity issues as well as an overview of the advantages and disadvantages of each design.
Identify a hypothetical target behavior (dependent variable) for change and a possible intervention (independent variable) that you would use with either the withdrawal or changing criterion design.
Operationally define the target behavior in observable and measurable terms and provide a rationale to justify the use of your chosen design for the target behavior and intervention that you have identified.

Occupation: Clinical Psychology
Instructions:
You will write an APA-style review paper whose topic is the particular area of specialization in psychology that is of most relevance to the occupation you would like to eventually enter (e.g., industrial/organizational psychology if you want to become a human resources director, counseling if you wish to become a school counselor and developmental psychology if you would like to own and operate a daycare center).
The body of this paper—not including the title page, abstract, and reference section—will be at least twelve pages long, and will be organized into the following sections:
Title Page-A title page that includes the title of your paper, your name, and the name of the institution.
Abstract -An abstract that briefly identifies the following six sections of your paper in a clear and succinct manner
History-The history of this area including its relationship to other areas of psychology and/or other academic disciplines
Theoretical Processes-Two of this area’s theories and the types of behaviors and/or mental processes they were created to explain
Research Methods-Two of the research methods that researchers in this area commonly use to gather data and test hypotheses
Empirical Studies-A descriiption of two empirical studies from the professional literature of this area and an explanation of how the results of each of these studies can or have been used to promote human welfare
Descriiption of Occupation-A specific occupation that the author plans to eventually enter; an accurate descriiption of this occupation, the tasks a person in this occupation is required to perform; a list of the specific types of knowledge, skills, and characteristics (i.e., work styles) a person needs in order to be successful in this occupation; and a discussion of how their chosen topic area of specialization within psychology is relevant to that occupation. The information for this section must be gathered from a credible source.
Explanation of Curricular and Extracurricular Opportunities -An explanation of how you have used specific curricular (e.g., classes) and extracurricular (e.g., jobs, volunteer work, hobbies, etc.) opportunities during your undergraduate education to accomplish the knowledge, skills, and characteristics you identified in the previous section.
References-A reference section containing at least ten scholarly references (Do not use generic dictionaries/encyclopedias and use only Websites ending in edu, org, or gov. When in doubt about the scholarliness of a reference, check with the instructor.)
Attached are some references used for previous assignment. -
Navigating Aggressive Behavior in Relationships
Human beings are fundamentally social. Though rewarding, interactions and connections can create challenges too. In this discussion, you will consider various elements of social relations as they apply to a specific example.
Prior to beginning work on this discussion forum, read Chapter 6 and Chapter 8 of your textbook. Then, complete the following:
Imagine that you are an advice columnist. You regularly respond to readers, providing advice about relationship-relevant concerns based on social psychological insight. Select a topic from the list of reader questions provided by your instructor to form the basis of your analysis. In your initial post,
Respond to the reader, describing specific social psychological principles.
Distill a clear answer to the question, formulating advice for future interaction if appropriate. Support your advice with relevant theory and research.
Demonstrate consideration of variation in how context and individual difference variables may impact the scenario.
If relevant in the scenario, relate career connections.
Your initial post should include an explanation and analysis of social relations (500-word minimum). You should reference, at minimum, one scholarly source in addition to the textbook.

Title: Understanding Crisis Counseling and the Role of the Crisis Counselor: Exploring Essential Values in Responding to Mental Health Crises
Introduction to Discussion:
This module acts as an introduction to crisis theory, types of crises, and to explore ten essential values in responding to mental health crisis. It important to understand that one theory on it’s own may not be sufficient in addressing crisis. There is a general consensus within the literature that there are several beneficial theories that can be of utility when considering crisis intervention, assessment, and treatment. Please read the assigned readings for this week before completing this week’s discussion assignment.
Instructions:
Please read the following quotes and respond to the question prompt.
Question prompts:
1.) “In general counseling, no theory explains all counseling problems and required approaches. The same is true for crisis counseling: no one theory explains the phenomenon of crisis adequately. Therefore, the counselor needs to be flexible in drawing upon and applying crisis theory in the same way a counselor would need to be when practicing counseling in general.” (Miller, 2011, p. 15).
How do does this quote influence your perception of crisis counseling and the role of the crisis counselor?
2.) We can see the counselor as someone who may “help the client see through the fears of the crisis and feel safe enough in counseling to make the best life-enhancing decisions possible”. (Miller, 2011, p. 2). In this way, “the counselor is metaphorically acting as a lighthouse for the client…” (Miller, 2011, p. 2).
How might you apply the Practice Guidelines: Core Elements in Responding to a Mental Health Crises Download Practice Guidelines: Core Elements in Responding to a Mental Health Crisesspecifically the Ten Essential Values (pages 5-12) to assist you, as the crisis counselor, in metaphorically acting as a lighthouse for the client? -
Title: Understanding Trauma and Attachment in Rabbit Hole: A Reaction Paper
The purpose of the reaction papers (indeed, all your written assignments) is for you to demonstrate that you understand and can apply the concepts we are learning about in this class. I am looking for you to find specific examples of topics covered in the book/film and how and why they illustrate a particular concept. I am NOT looking for a detailed retelling of the story; rather pick and choose scenes and characters’ behaviors that are relevant to the topics covered in the syllabus. For example, given that we’ve covered the role of disorganized attachment as a type of trauma and understand it as a precursor to pathological dissociation, you might illustrate this process at work in a character. Or you might talk about a particular character’s resilience to trauma and explain the underlying psychological processes. You could talk about different types of trauma and why they impact a character in the way that they do. Another option might be to discuss the difference between the DSM’s view of PTSD and Van der Kolk’s idea of “developmental trauma”. There are numerous other concepts that you might discuss and you might choose to address biological and social issues as they impact a character as well.
These are just a few examples. Two or three of these concepts, as well as an awareness of the bio/psycho/social model underlying this course, will put you in the ballpark of an A.
I am also, however, looking for clear writing with correct spelling, punctuation, and grammar. If you have trouble with this, you can go to The Writing Center for help. Proofread your work.
Finally, there is room for your original creative response and emotional reactions to the film/book and students often relate a film or book to their own experience or help me see something familiar in a novel way. But this should be in addition to, not instead of, your ability to demonstrate that you are keeping up with the reading and grasping major concepts and theories. Since we don’t have any exams in this class, your written work is an important way for me to evaluate your progress.
Papers should be about three pages, double spaced, 12 point font, with APA style citations in the body of the paper and an APA style reference page at the end. APA style beyond this is not required for the reaction paper, but full APA style is required for your final research papers.
You always have the option of re-doing an assignment for a higher grade or picking an additional book or film for extra credit.
If you are still unclear as to how to proceed, please get in touch with me and we can speak individually.
You’re using the exact same sources you used for the paper on Precious . Would have been better use something else. Also – why are you’re references for Hagman in caps? And again, the you cite an author you have to put the year of the publication in parentheses after their name and the complete reference In your reference section.
I would have liked to see a more in depth understanding of how attachment theory relates to the characters in Rabbit Hole, as well as bringing in others we have studied, like Judith Herman Trauma and dissociation or Van der Kolk. -
