    INTRODUCTION:
Healthcare professionals are frequently tasked with providing care to people who have workplace injuries or illnesses.
In the United States, workplace the Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA) enforces safety standards and provides training, outreach, education, and assistance to employers.  OSHA’s mission is to ensure that employees work in safe and healthy environments.
To learn more about OSHA visit the website: OSHA Website: Home | Occupational Safety and Health Administration (osha.gov)
    MAJOR WORKPLACE HAZARD CATEGORIES include:
Safety Hazards – slips, trips, falls, faulty equipment
Physical Hazards – noise, temperature extremes, radiation
Ergonomic Hazards – repetition, lifting, awkward postures, etc.
Chemical & Dust Hazards – cleaning products, pesticides, asbestos, etc.
Biological Hazards – mold, insects/pests, communicable diseases
Work organization hazards – workload, work pace, social, emotional, mental, etc.
Click this link or download the OSHA Occupational Hazard Chart to review examples of workplace safety and health hazards.

Prepare a slide presentation to summarize your efforts and findings for each of the tasks outlined below.
There is no specific number of slides you need for this presentation; however, you need to clearly address each of the Tasks.  We recommend between 10-12 slides.  You do not need to include speaker’s notes, but you can if you wish to provide additional detail.  Graphics and pictures always make a presentation more visually appealing.  If you include photographs, be sure to seek permission if it is private property and/or from anyone whose face is visible in any photo.
    TASKS
    1. Identify and describe at least two (2) workplaces in your community that you can visit as a member of the community.
Examples include retail, restaurants, office buildings, movie theaters, city parks, campgrounds, public libraries, hotels, travel rest areas, theme parks, golf courses, other publicly accessible buildings, or a construction site that is viewable from a distance without entering the actual job site.  Do not enter restricted areas or private property without written permission.
    2. Spend approximately 30 – 60 minutes in each location observing the workplace environment for potential safety and health hazards monitored by OSHA. Be sure to include a description of how you used the time spent at each location in your assignment presentation.
    3. Identify at least one potential safety or health hazard you observe at each site.  For each safety or health hazard complete the following:
(Note:  If you do not observe any potential safety or health hazards at the site you choose, find another location where you do observe hazards.)
Describe the hazard or potential hazard you observe.
Describe the type of hazard as it would be categorized by OSHA.  Refer to the Major OSHA categories above.
Describe or predict the injury or illness that could occur as a result of the hazard.
Recommend the type of health care someone who became ill or was injured would need.
Provide detailed information on healthcare facilities in the vicinity that can assist individuals affected by potential hazards.
    4.  Analyze the healthcare facilities in your community on their capacity to provide medical assistance to those who may fall ill or get injured at work.
    5.  A worker who is injured or ill cannot find the appropriate health care in your vicinity.  Suggest the nearest city or town where they can receive the necessary medical attention.  Explain why you recommend this particular location.

  • “Community Health Promotion Plan for HIV Prevention and Education in a High-Risk Population” Introduction: HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus) is a significant health concern that affects millions of individuals worldwide. In the United States, there were approximately 1

For this assessment, you will propose a hypothetical health promotion plan addressing a particular health concern or health need affecting a fictitious individual or group living in the community. The hypothetical individual or group of your choice must be living in the community; not in a hospital, assistant living, nursing home, or other facility.
hypothetical individuals or groups living in the community.
Then investigate your chosen concern or need and best practices for health improvement, based on supporting evidence.
USE HIV AS THE HEALTH CONCERN IN THE COMMUNITY
HIV: Human Immunodeficiency Virus, which attacks the immune system and can lead to
    AIDS (Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome).
Create a scenario as if this project were being completed face-to-face.
Identify the chosen population and include demographic data (location, lifestyle, age, race, ethnicity, gender, marital status, income, education, employment).
Describe in detail the characteristics of your chosen hypothetical individual or group for this activity and how they are relevant to this targeted population.
Discuss why your chosen population is predisposed to this health concern or health need and why they can benefit from a health promotion educational plan.
Based on the health concern for your hypothetical individual or group, discuss what you would include in the development of a sociogram. Take into consideration possible social, economic, cultural, genetic, and/or lifestyle behaviors that may have an impact on health as you develop your educational plan in your first assessment. You will take this information into consideration when you develop your educational plan in your fourth assessment.
Identify their potential learning needs. Collaborate with the individual or group on SMART goals that will be used to evaluate the educational session (Assessment 4).
Identify the individual or group’s current behaviors and outline clear expectations for this educational session and offer suggestions for how the individual or group needs can be met.
Health promotion goals need to be clear, measurable, and appropriate for this activity. Consider goals that will foster behavior changes and lead to the desired outcomes.
Analyze the health concern that is the focus of your health promotion plan.
Consider underlying assumptions and points of uncertainty in your analysis.
Explain why a health concern is important for health promotion within a specific population.
    Examine current population health data.
Consider the factors that contribute to health, health disparities, and access to services.
Explain the importance of establishing agreed-upon health goals in collaboration with hypothetical participants.

  • Using PICOT to Develop a Research Question for Pressure Injury Prevention in Elderly Patients in Long-Term Acute Care Using PICOT to Develop a Research Question for Pressure Injury Prevention in Elderly Patients in Long-Term Acute Care “Exploring the Significance of a Topic to Nursing Practice: A PICOT Research Question Analysis”

You can choose between Diabetes,Venous thromboembolism and/or pressure injury:prevention
PICOT is an acronym used to help develop clinical research
questions and guide you in your search for evidence. Finding the right answers
requires the right questions. The PICOT format will help you construct
questions that will likely lead to effective searches, the best available
evidence of interventions, and the meaningfulness of patient experiences.
    P = Patient population
I = Intervention or issue of interest
C = Comparison of interventions or comparison of interests
    O = Outcome
T = Time frame (this element is not always included)*
For example, you may wish to research the effects of
interrupted sleep on cognition of ICU patients 65 or older.
    Using this PICOT model,
In __________(P), how does __________ (I) compared to
    _________ (C) influence _________ (O) over ________ (T)?
In ICU patients who are 65 or older, how does interrupted
sleep (awakened one time or more in four hours) as compared to uninterrupted
sleep influence the patient’s cognitive ability over 5 days?
Questions of meaningfulness and effectiveness relate to how
people experience an intervention or phenomenon.
What is the effectiveness of using a turn schedule (I)
versus an audible public address reminder (C) on the incidence of pressure
ulcers (O) in elderly patients in LTAC who require turning (P)?
*Not all studies will have a time frame. This is optional to
include as part of your PICOT.
    Assignment Directions
Use PICOT to format a possible research question about that topic.
Create one possible PICOT research question.
Find one quantitative or qualitative peer-reviewed research article related to your nursing topic that was published within the last 5 years. Reminder: All peer-reviewed research articles have methods, discussion, and results sections.
Upload the article with your paper in PDF format. This source can be used again in the Week 4 article assignment if it meets the criteria
    Include the following:
    Title page
Provide a brief description of the topic and background information (see page 28 of your textbook). You can use your text, your peer-reviewed journal source, or the EBP care sheets in CINAHL or Nursing Reference Center Database.
Explain the significance of the topic to nursing practice (see chart on page 28 of your textbook). Background information can be found in journal articles in the introduction section. Results and conclusions will speak to significance of the topic. The EBP care sheets may have sources for you to choose from.
    Provide 1 clearly-stated PICOT question.
Include 1 peer-reviewed journal source related to your topic.
The chosen topic and PICOT will be used for your Week 9 poster assignment. Your chosen topic will guide your article search in week 4 and your self-appraisals in week 6 of your chosen articles.
    Your paper should:
Be 2–3 pages (not including the title page and reference page)
Use current APA format to style your paper and to cite your source.
Attached is a Picot Examplar Paper  Download Picot Examplar Paperas an example of the format.
There will be a 5 point deduction if peer-reviewed research journal article is not used and a 5 point deduction if the article is not included with your submission.

    Introduction:
    You
will resume the community nurse role tasked with addressing your community’s specific health concern. This time, you will present, via educational
outreach, the hypothetical health promotion plan you developed in Assessment 1
to your fictitious audience. In this hypothetical scenario, you will simulate
the presentation as though it would be live and face-to-face. You must
determine an effective teaching strategy, communicate the plan with
professionalism and cultural sensitivity, evaluate the plan’s objectives,
revise the plan as applicable, and propose improvements for future educational
sessions. To engage your audience, you decide to develop a PowerPoint
presentation with voice-over and speaker notes to communicate your plan.
    Instruction:
    Complete the following:
    ·
    Prepare a 10–13 slide
PowerPoint presentation with detailed speaker notes that reflect your
hypothetical presentation. This presentation is the implementation of the teaching plan for obesity created in Assessment 1. (see the attached Paper)
The speaker notes should be well organized. Be
sure to include a transcript. The transcript can be submitted on a separate
Word document with proper APA citation.
    ·
    Simulate the
hypothetical face-to-face educational session addressing the health concern (Obesity)
and health goals of your selected community individual or group.
    ·
    Imagine collaborating
with the hypothetical participant(s) to set goals (using SMART goal setting with specific examples) for the session, evaluate session outcomes, and suggest possible revisions to improve
    future sessions.
