Choose a healthcare policy issue – local, state, national, or international. There are many to choose from such as licensure; management of emerging epidemic diseases; to immunize or not to immunize; policies of the United Nations related to Healthcare in nonindustrial nations; lack of mental health care; medical marijuana use; increased risk of workplace violence/injuries for healthcare providers, domestic violence, etc. Feel free to use a current topic/issue impacting healthcare. Do not choose a subject that is too broad to be manageable, i.e. Health reform Research the issue carefully. You do not need to use only nursing sources. Look at the medical, social science, and other sources as well. The references must be professional websites and/or professional/peer-reviewed journals.
Write a 6-8 page paper (including title page and references) exploring the health policy issue you have selected. Discuss the background and implications of the issue. Look at proposals to solve the problem. Briefly state your own position on the issue. You should have at least 6 references in addition to the textbook, but you should use as many as necessary to develop your paper. Use APA style and referencing. 

Do you think there is a correlation between care coordination and the quality of patient care delivered?
Do you think care coordination can reduce hospital readmissions, improve quality of life, and curb health care expenditures? Provide examples.

Introduction
Leadership may be one of the defining factors in influencing organizational culture. Leadership impacts quality of care and addresses the well-being and development of employees and those served. In health care, successful leadership is aligned with ensuring access to care, safety and quality of care, affordability, ethical practice, and creating a culture of inclusion that honors diversity.
The research reports a link between type of leadership and outcomes such as patient satisfaction, organizational performance, staff well-being, engagement, longevity in the field, and quality of care (West, Armit, Loewenthal, Eckert, West, & Lee, 2015). Effective leaders and their organizations deliver high quality and compassionate care that meets the needs of the population served.
The health care environment is complex, requiring leadership that is collaborative and embraces interprofessional communication and ethical practices. Leaders in the field must have a good understanding of the emerging health care market, be passionate about meeting the needs of the population served, and act as change agents, inspiring and motivating others in an organization that provides quality services at an affordable cost.
It is essential for leaders to be well versed in a range of areas (practice, research, education) as a means of effective engagement with interprofessional communities. Effective leaders have heightened awareness of self and leadership styles, leading to professional growth, career advancement, and the ability to develop ethical leaders for the future across fields of practice (nursing, health administration, public health).
This assessment provides an opportunity for you to create a portrait of the effective health care professional and leader you aspire to be.

Assessment Description
The purpose of this assignment is to develop a PICOT question. A PICOT (Patient, Intervention, Comparison, Outcome and Time) question starts with a designated patient population in a particular clinical area and identifies clinical problems or issues that arise from clinical care. The intervention used to address the problem must be a nursing practice intervention. Include a comparison of the nursing intervention to a patient population not currently receiving the nursing intervention, and specify the timeframe needed to implement the change process.
Using the “PICOT Question” template, formulate a PICOT question applying the PICOT format that addresses the approved clinical nursing problem from Topic 2.
