Title: Enhancing Quality and Safety Standards in Nursing through the Use of Telemedicine Technology: An Annotated Bibliography
Write a 4–6 page annotated bibliography where you identify peer-reviewed publications that promote the use of a selected technology to enhance quality and safety standards in nursing.
First, review the technologies presented in the Assessment 03 Supplement: Evidence-Based Proposal and Annotated Bib on Tech in Nursing [PDF] Download Assessment 03 Supplement: Evidence-Based Proposal and Annotated Bib on Tech in Nursing [PDF]resource and select one of the options to use as the focus for this assessment.
Next prepare a 4–6 page paper in which you introduce your selected technology and describe at least four peer-reviewed publications that promote the use of your selected technology to enhance quality and safety standards in nursing. You will conclude your paper by summarizing why you recommend a particular technology by underscoring the evidence-based resources you presented. Be sure that your paper includes all of the following elements:
Introduction to the Selected Technology Topic
What is your rationale for selecting this particular technology topic? What is interesting about it?
What research process did you employ?
Which databases did you use?
Which search terms did you use?
Note: In this section of your bibliography, you may use first-person since you are asked to describe your rationale for selecting the topic and the research strategies you employed. Use third person in the rest of the bibliography, however.
Annotation Elements
For each resource, include the full reference followed by the annotation.
Explain the focus of the research or review article you chose.
Provide a summary overview of the publication.
According to this source, what is the impact of this technology on patient safety and quality of care?
According to this source, what is the relevance of this technology to nursing practice and the work of the interdisciplinary health care team?
Why did you select this publication to write about out of the many possible options? In other words, make the case as to why this resource is important for health care practitioners to read.
Summary of Recommendation
How would you tie together the key learnings from each of the four publications you examined?
What organizational factors influence the selection of a technology in a health care setting? Consider such factors as organizational policies, resources, culture/social norms, commitment, training programs, and/or employee empowerment.
How would you justify the implementation and use of the technology in a health care setting? This is the section where you will justify (prove) that the implementation of the
patient care technology is appropriate or not. The evidence should be cited from the literature that was noted in the annotated bibliography.
Consider the impact of the technology on the health care organization, patientcare/satisfaction, and interdisciplinary team productivity, satisfaction, and retention.

“Improving Sepsis Outcomes through Implementation of an Evidence-Based Screening Tool: A PICOT Analysis”
This assignment is on a PICOT question In adult inpatients at risk for sepsis (P), how does implementing an evidence-based sepsis risk screening tool (I) compared to standard ad hoc sepsis detection practices without standardized screening (C) affect sepsis morbidity, mortality, and healthcare utilization (O) within one-year post-implementation (T)? I will atttach files that show what was used in the previous papers to carry on
The final paper should:
Incorporate all necessary revisions and corrections suggested by your instructors.
Synthesize the different elements of the overall project into one paper. The synthesis should reflect the main concepts for each section, connect ideas or overreaching concepts, and be rewritten to include the critical aspects of the project (do not copy and paste the assignments).
Contain supporting research for the evidence-based practice project proposal.
Main Body of the Paper
The main body of your paper should include the following sections:
Problem Statement – Inadequate sepsis risk screening causes delays in early identification and timely treatment of sepsis, resulting in increased patient mortality and morbidity as well as higher healthcare costs. Implementing a standardized, evidence-based sepsis screening tool into nursing assessment workflows could enable improved early recognition and expedited treatment of sepsis to significantly reduce poor clinical outcomes and ease resource burdens on health systems.

Title: “Understanding Nursing-Sensitive Quality Indicators: A Comprehensive Training for New Nurses”
Prepare an 8–10 minute audio training tutorial (video is optional) for new nurses on the importance of nursing-sensitive quality indicators.
For this assessment, first review the nursing-sensitive quality indicators presented in the Assessment 04 Supplement: Informatics and Nursing Sensitive quality Indicators [PDF] Download Assessment 04 Supplement: Informatics and Nursing Sensitive quality Indicators [PDF]resource and select one nursing-sensitive quality indicator to use as the focus for this assessment.
Next, imagine you are a member of a Quality Improvement Council at any type of health care system, whether acute, ambulatory, home health, managed care, et cetera. Your Council has identified that newly hired nurses would benefit from comprehensive training on the importance of nursing-sensitive quality indicators. The Council would like the training to address how this information is collected and disseminated across the organization. It would also like the training to describe the role nurses have in accurate reporting and high-quality results.
The Council indicates a recording is preferable to a written fact sheet due to the popularity of audio blogs. In this way, new hires can listen to the tutorial on their own time using their phone or other device.
As a result of this need, you offer to create an audio tutorial orienting new hires to these topics. You know that you will need a script to guide your audio recording. You also plan to incorporate into your script the insights you learned from conducting an interview with an authority on quality monitoring and the use of technology to collect and report quality indicator data.
You determine that you will cover the following topics in your audio tutorial script:
Introduction: Nursing-Sensitive Quality Indicator
What is the National Database of Nursing-Sensitive Quality Indicators?
What are nursing-sensitive quality indicators?
Which particular quality indicator did you select to address in your tutorial?
Why is this quality indicator important to monitor?
Be sure to address the impact of this indicator on the quality of care and patient safety.
Why do new nurses need to be familiar with this particular quality indicator when providing patient care?
Collection and Distribution of Quality Indicator Data
According to your interview and other resources, how does your organization collect data on this quality indicator?
How does the organization disseminate aggregate data?
What role do nurses play in supporting accurate reporting and high-quality results?
As an example, consider the importance of accurately entering data regarding nursing interventions.
After completing your script, practice delivering your tutorial several times before recording it.
I will do the audio after I get what I need to say in the paper. Thank you! -

“Enhancing Quality Improvement and Patient Safety: The Role of the Baccalaureate Nurse in Addressing Safety Issues in Healthcare Settings” “Enhancing Patient Safety Culture: The Role of the Baccalaureate-Prepared Nurse in Quality Improvement Initiatives” “Building Quality and Leadership Skills: A Reading List for Quality Improvement Initiatives and Safety Education”
Instructions
For this assessment, you will develop a 3–5 page paper that examines a safety quality issue in a health care setting. You will analyze the issue and examine potential evidence-based and best-practice solutions from the literature as well as the role of nurses and other stakeholders in addressing the issue. Introduction Health care organizations and professionals strive to create safe environments for patients; however, due to the complexity of the health care system, maintaining safety can be a challenge. Since nurses comprise the largest group of health care professionals, a great deal of responsibility falls in the hands of practicing nurses. Quality improvement (QI) measures and safety improvement plans are effective interventions to reduce medical errors and sentinel events such as medication errors, falls, infections, and deaths. A 2000 Institute of Medicine (IOM) report indicated that almost one million people are harmed annually in the United States, (Kohn et al., 2000) and 210,000–440,000 die as a result of medical errors (Allen, 2013).
The role of the baccalaureate nurse includes identifying and explaining specific patient risk factors, incorporating evidence-based solutions to improving patient safety and coordinating care. A solid foundation of knowledge and understanding of safety organizations such as Quality and Safety Education for Nurses (QSEN), the Institute of Medicine (IOM), and The Joint Commission and its National Patient Safety Goals (NPSGs) program is vital to practicing nurses with regard to providing and promoting safe and effective patient care. You are encouraged to complete the Identifying Safety Risks and Solutions activity. This activity offers an opportunity to review a case study and practice identifying safety risks and possible solutions. We have found that learners who complete course activities and review resources are more successful with first submissions. Completing course activities is also a way to demonstrate course engagement.
