You are the unit manager of a 50-bed, step-down unit, and it is time for you to prepare your annual capital budget. You have seen a significant turnover in your nursing staff in the past three years; a review of exit interviews and patient surveys indicates low nurse satisfaction, poor morale, and complaints of an antiquated and depressing work environment. You have researched the impact of a positive working environment on staff productivity and morale and decided to request a renovation of the nurses’ lounge as the main purchase in your capital budget. You will present your request as a quality improvement investment.

Prepare a capital budget for a facility renovation. Assemble your budget figures in a table, using a format of your choice. You may use either Microsoft Word or Excel to create your budget table.
Note: You may use the budget in the Vila Health: Preparing a Capital Budget multimedia exercise as an example of how you might format your table. You may also use a budget format used in your organization or a format you find in any of the course resources or on the Internet.

This assessment requires you to explore the literature. Using the PICOT you developed (Mine was written about elderly falls) at the beginning of the course, search the literature (library database) to find 2 research articles that are examples of 2 different levels on the levels of evidence hierarchy (example of levels uploaded down below). The pyramid that illustrates the levels of hierarchy is provided in instructional materials. Please read about the levels of evidence to ensure you understand them before selecting your articles.

An important element of the delivery of nursing care is the professional practice model (PPM)within which it is framed. These models define the structures and processes within which care is given. It can delineate the degree of autonomy within which nurses can practice that leads to a higher quality of care. While these frameworks are informed by nursing, organizations must support implementing these models.
Regardless of the type of facility, the nursing practice should be framed within a specific nursing professional practice model. Most PPM have components that include the nursing vision/values, nursing practice standards, teamwork, recognition and advancement, evidence-based practice/research, nursing care delivery model, shared decision-making, and some type of reflective practice.
For this collaboration:
Compare two different professional practice models in nursing. Share which PPM attracts you more than others and why.
Describe your organization’s PPM and evidence of the components listed in the discussion prompt.
