Locate a systematic review on your topic from the Chamberlain Library. Be sure this involves nursing actions.

You are supervising three nurses working on the medical-surgical floor of a local teaching hospital. This hospital is nationally recognized as a leader in education and has a computer lab with an online library where staff has access to medical research databases (that is, CINAHL, PubMed, Medline, and Cochrane library) and online sources of all hospital policies, procedures, and guidelines, and computers at nurse workstations that also have access to these resources. (For this scenario, use the Capella University Library to simulate the hospital’s online library.) You have given the nurses their patient assignments and you have all participated in shift report. A new nurse who just completed orientation and training a week ago approaches you and tells you that one of the assigned patients has a diagnosis he or she is very unfamiliar with. Knowing that patient-centered care based on best practices is imperative to positive patient outcomes, you want to assist this nurse to find research that can be utilized to provide the best care for this patient. Describe how you would communicate with this nurse to encourage him or her to research the diagnosis. Assume you will assist in the quest to locate evidence, then describe where you would go within the facility and what resources you would look for. Create a list of at least five sources that could be used to find evidence, with the best source listed first, and explain why the sources you chose are best to find evidence for the diagnosis you chose and the clinical scenario. For this assessment:
Describe your role as a baccalaureate-prepared nurse supervising clinical staff nurses with regard to communication and collaboration in locating evidence for application to a nursing practice scenario.
Compile a list of five online databases or other online sources (that is, websites, journals, facility policies or guidelines, et cetera) that can be used to research evidence to apply to the diagnosis in this scenario and describe to which of these you would direct a nurse colleague to search for evidence.

The Meeting:
• Meet with the elected official or staff member to discuss the legislation.
• Do not mention that you are a student or have arranged this visit as part of a course requirement.
The Report:
Write a report of your visit and include all the items listed below. 1. Include the exact name of the elected official or staff member whose office you emailed and the person with whom you spoke with. 2. Indicate whether the elected official or staff member knew the legislation.
3. Describe how you conveyed your issue in the meeting. Summarize the topic and how you presented the topic, including the facts or supporting information you provided. Once you lay out the issue, you should ask for the legislator’s support. Legislators, elected officials, or staff respond to members’ requests; namely, will the legislator provide the requested support or not? If not, why not? If the individual can support your position, you should elaborate on why they were so enthusiastic about showing support (so that we might convey that enthusiasm to other less enlightened legislators). 5. Describe how the meeting ended. Did you need additional information to send the elected official or staff member?
6. Summarize the elected officials or staff members’ demeanor. Were they cordial, merely civil, barely engaged, etc.? In other words, despite your anxiety about the meeting (typical for most nurses), did the individual seem agreeable to the discussion? For example, did they:

• Ask good questions.
• Seem candid about their position or remain noncommittal?

• Relate any experiences that contributed to their understanding of the topic (e.g., a family member in one of the health professions or some other relevant personal experience). If so, did these experiences help the individual support your request, or did they have the opposite effect?
7. Present information in a scholarly manner, including skillful and proficient writing using appropriate spelling, grammar, punctuation, and mechanics, APA style and formatting of the title page, appropriate in-text reference citations, and references page.
8. No more than 2-3 double-spaced pages (NOT including the title page, references, and thank you email).
9. Thank-you email – Send a thank-you email that briefly summarizes the bill number and the issue discussed at the meeting. The purpose of this assignment is to refine the PICOT question you developed in the discussion forum this week and begin evaluating literature that you will use in subsequent weeks to write your research paper.
Use the “Literature Evaluation Table” to complete this assignment. Prior to starting the “Literature Evaluation Table,” complete the following:
Review the feedback you have received in the discussion forum related to your PICOT question so far. Make any necessary edits to your PICOT question.
Conduct a literature search to locate four research articles focused on your selected nursing practice problem of interest. Note: This literature search should include two quantitative and two qualitative, peer-reviewed, primary research articles to support your nursing practice problem. A mixed methods article can qualify towards meeting a qualitative or quantitative methodology. The two articles identified in Topic 1 DQ 2 can be used should you still find them relevant to your PICOT question.
Articles must be published within the past 5 years, appropriate for the assignment criteria, and relevant to nursing practice.
The PICOT question and four peer-reviewed research articles you chose will be utilized for subsequent assignments. 

APA 7th edition Title page:
This is a separate page by itself, with the following information centered in the middle of the page: course title, paper title, student’s name, instructor’s name, and date.
Description of Pathology:
Start the paper on a new page.
In this section, you will describe the pathology (statistics about it, background information, etc.). Give as much information as you can about it but be sure it is relevant information and not just filler. It should be a comprehensive introductory section of the condition in one to two paragraphs.
Normal anatomy of the major body system affected: In this section, you will describe what is considered normal anatomy for your particular pathophysiology. For example, if you are discussing a disease related to the brain, explain what is normal for the brain from an anatomical standpoint. You should show comprehensive knowledge of the fundamental concepts and communicate information using scientific vocabulary. There should be little to no discussion of the condition itself in this section.
Normal physiology of the major body system affected: In this section, you will be discussing physiology. Keep in mind that when describing physiology, it isn’t enough to merely provide a list of functions of the body system (Ex: Neurons send signals throughout the body), instead, you need to be able to describe how it does it. The how is the physiology. There should be little to no discussion of the condition itself in this section
Mechanism of Pathophysiology: This section is likely going to be the most in-depth and longest section. In this section, you will explain your particular pathophysiology from a scientific standpoint. In the previous two sections, you explained what is considered normal, in this section, you should describe what the pathophysiology is doing that is causing these issues, how the normal anatomy & physiology is affected/different in a person with your condition. You should show a thorough understanding of the anatomical and physiological changes contributing to the disease. Some good keywords to search for when doing your research might be “Pathology of __________”, Pathophysiology of __________.”
Prevention: In this section, you will explain how your pathophysiology could be prevented. This should outline possible prevention protocols, or clearly indicate if none is available based on the current scientific literature.
Treatment: In this section, you will explain how your pathophysiology is commonly treated. Provide possible treatment protocols for the condition based on current scientific literature. Be sure to bring in nursing relevant information and how you might be involved in the treatment of the condition.
Conclusion: Finally you should summarize your findings. All good research papers should include a conclusion where you wrap up and summarize all of the important points made in your paper.
References:
As with the Title page, this should be a separate page by itself.
All references should be included in correct and complete APA format.
All references must be cited appropriately in the paper using APA-style in-text citations.
A minimum of three reputable sources are required for this assignment.

The assignment should be submitted to the Week 3 Medication Table dropbox by Sunday at 11:59 p.m. MT.
Students are expected to submit assignments by the time they are due. Assignments submitted after the due date and time will receive a deduction of 10% of the total points possible for that assignment for each day the assignment is late. Assignments will be accepted, with a penalty as described, up to a maximum of three days late, after which point a zero will be recorded for the assignment.
In the event of a situation that prevents the timely submission of an assignment, students may petition their instructor for a waiver of the late submission grade reduction. The instructor will review the student’s rationale for the request and make a determination based on the merits of the student’s appeal. Consideration of the student’s total course performance to date will be a contributing factor in the determination. Students should continue to attend class, actively participate, and complete other assignments while the appeal is pending.
