As strategic leaders, we encounter daily challenges. If we are not strategic leaders, we use the leaders in our environment as touchstones to determine whether we want to emulate them. To be more effective leaders, knowledge of strategic leaders’ character, competencies, and actions is critical. With this in mind, you are asked to do the following: Part 1: Determining Strategic Leaders’ Views of Leadership In 2,500-3,000 words:
1. Conduct a short interview (10 questions) with 2 leaders/managers in your workplace (place interview questions in appendix); 2. Ensure that you ask their opinions on the following: (questions must cover a-h) : a. Evolving Leadership Realities; b. The role of strategic leadership competencies in executing their leadership functions. c. The role of Ethics and Value in Leadership; d. Which theory/theories of leadership do they practice? e. What leadership attributes do they consider the most critical given their work environment? f. What symbols do they use to represent a successful strategic leader? g. What is their understanding of the interactional framework for analysing leadership? h. What is their strategy for dealing with conflict and negotiations? 3. Categorize the findings into themes (related to one or more theories) and use 3 to 5 scholarly peer-reviewed articles to justify the themes; the responses from the 2 interviews have to be looked at as ‘one’ and not separately to determine the themes that came out from the interviews. It must relate back to one or more leadership theories. coding into themes can be done via Nvivo or manually. 4. Create a concept map showing the connection of theories to the themes.
Part 2: Design a Leadership Approach In 1,450-1,500 words: Based on the findings from the interview and your observations of the leaders. Do the following: 1. create a hybrid strategic leadership approach that would best suit your workplace; 2. create a definition of the hybrid model; 3. describe two examples of how it can be implemented in your workplace; and 4. substantiate this approach using 3 to 5 scholarly peer-reviewed literature. Part 3: Personal Framework Reflection (PFR) In 1,500-2,000 words: 1. Throughout the process, use journaling, memoing, bracketing, and reflexivity to document the experience; 2. Present the information in number 1 in your discussion and refer to it in the appendix; 3. While conceptualizing the assignment, what was your initial approach to planning and implementing it? 4. Re-read your journal and fieldnotes etc. and determine, based on the interviews and the creation of a hybrid strategic leadership model, whether a paradigm shift took place in your belief about strategic leadership. 5. At any time, throughout the process, did you experience cognitive dissonance, if yes, give an example, if no why not? 6. Use 3-5 scholarly peer-reviewed literature to substantiate what you are saying. Exam Content
When conducting research, it is necessary to know the difference between qualitative and quantitative research methods.
This assignment has two parts. Complete Parts 1 and 2 below.
Part 1: Identifying Qualitative and Quantitative Research Characteristics
Locate 1 qualitative and 1 quantitative research article on a topic in your program of study (e.g., DBA, DHA, DM, EDD) from the University Library. Add the references to the articles you selected in the reference section of the Research Outline Template.
Write a 700- to 1,400-word analysis about the articles in which you:
Explain what characteristics make the study and research methods used quantitative.
Explain what characteristics make the study and research methods used qualitative.
Analyze the major differences between the 2 types of research methods.
Refer to Quantitative and Qualitative Terminology for examples of qualitative or quantitative language that may be used in each article.
Note: Part 1 of this assignment needs to be submitted in a separate document using the Student Paper Template. Provide properly formatted citations and references. You will be using the Research Outline Template for Part 2 of the assignment.
Part 2: Supporting Selected Research Method Appropriateness
Using peer-reviewed journal articles, classroom materials, and information from the weekly overview, select a research method (qualitative or quantitative) that you might use to achieve your study purpose.
Write a 200- to 350-word explanation of the research method you selected and why this method appropriately aligns with your problem, purpose, and research question. To help justify your chosen methodology, you may find it helpful to review and use as guides a few finished dissertations in the ProQuest database that used the same methodology you are considering. Substantiate your discussion and provide appropriate citations and references.
Incorporating feedback is essential and beneficial in the learning process and is an expectation throughout the dissertation journey. Reading feedback, reflecting on the feedback, and then properly incorporating the feedback will help to progress through the dissertation journey and improve your writing, critical thinking, and APA formatting skills.
Change Matrix
A change matrix describes the changes you make to a document based on instructor feedback.
Review the Week 5 feedback from your instructor on the research question(s) and using the Change Matrix in Appendix E of the Research Outline Template, record the instructor’s feedback in the first column, state in your own words the feedback provided in the second column, and explain what you have done to address the feedback in the third column.

Overview
Recognizing individuals is crucial for motivating employee performance. Leaders who celebrate successes enhance productivity, as motivating feedback stimulates, rekindles, and focuses people’s energies and drive. Exemplary leaders recognize and reward what individuals contribute to the vision and values. They express their appreciation beyond the limits of the organization’s formal systems, enjoying being spontaneous and creative in saying thank you. An exemplary leader becomes personally involved and shows genuine care for employees, reinforcing a sense of belonging and teamwork. This approach not only helps achieve goals but also strengthens core values. Note, one does not have to be a leader or manager to recognize the outstanding contributions of another.
Your Analysis
1. Recall a Contribution: Recall a time when you observed one or more individuals at work who made an extraordinary contribution or took an action that aligned closely with the organization’s values and goals, and you felt they should have been recognized for their contribution.
2. Identify the Actors: Name the person—or the people—you feel should have been recognized.

The Personal Leadership Action Plan Approximately 3-4 pages
The final project in UWW 320 is the Personal Leadership Action Plan. We will explore leadership from many different perspectives, and I’m hoping that this project will make it possible for you to bring together some of the ideas, issues, and questions we discuss during the class in a way that means something to you.
The Plan is due towards the end of class, but you should be thinking about it now. If one of the approaches to understanding leadership rings true for you and helps you understand your own or your boss’s leadership behavior, make the connection in a sentence or two so that you can go back to it when you put the Plan together.
There are three parts to the Plan:
• A description of a current or future leadership opportunity or a leadership problem you have identified. In a few paragraphs, present either a leadership opportunity that you see for yourself or another person or a public leadership problem that should be addressed. The opportunity can be anything, obtaining a promotion at work, advocating for your child, running for School Committee in your town, or creating a fundraising campaign in your church, but it must be something real in your experience. The problem, too, can be anything that is connected with leadership, an incompetent boss, a territorial committee chair, or a co-worker that causes conflict at work. If this is a personal affiliate, please don’t use real names, or even real organizations. Just describe the situation briefly. (2 paragraphs at most)
• An analysis of the opportunity or problem in terms of one or more of the leadership ideas we have discussed in class. Now look at the situation you have described in the light of some of the ideas you have read about and we’ve discussed in class. If you’re contemplating moving into a new leadership position, how do you evaluate your leadership style, for example? What traits do you have that are common to effective leaders? What are some aspects of the environment or situation you would be entering that you need to pay attention to? What are the pressures on people in leadership positions in your organization? If you’re analyzing a problem boss, is he or she like Achilles in Ender’s Shadow (I hope not!), like Bean, like Poke? What skills or elements of an effective leadership style is the boss missing? Is there a way to help the boss become a more effective leader?
• A research/action plan in which you describe ( the steps ) as to how you will learn more about the opportunity/problem and what you will to do to carry out the plan. Now decide how you will proceed. What additional reading will you do about particular issues in leadership? List the books and articles you will examine in a bibliography. Will you interview some people that you regard as effective leaders? Who will you interview? Why? What questions will you ask? If you decide to run for office, how will you evaluate your support? Whom will you engage to help with your campaign? Why? What skills, knowledge, traits or styles would they bring to the project?
