1. A short paragraph summarizing the issue in the current event. Here, you should focus on giving the reader information about your event. 2. A link to the credible news source that you used to get your information; include a sentence or two about WHY this is a credible source. It is not enough to state that ‘this news source is credible because it’s popular’ – instead, give a sentence or two about why this is a credible source to use to get news. 3. A summary of the class material you are using in the assignment – as if you were teaching it to someone new. Here, your goal is to teach the material to the reader. So, for example, if you’re trying your example to a jurisprudential approach to the law, you might give the definition of a jurisprudential approach and then talk a bit about what it means to define something this way. 4. A summary of the analysis/evaluation of the issue as it relates to the class material – again, as if you were teaching it to someone new. Here, your goal is to explicitly tie the event to the course material – show the reader how your event is an example of the course material.

The Constitutive Relationship between Law and Society: An Observation of Courtroom Behavior
I wrote this about the constituive relationship between law and society, ” The constitutive
relationship between law and society means that they are equally shaping forces, each
affected by the other. Law reflects societal norms and values but at the same time also
sets them”. You may use that if you like to help. For this fieldwork essay I observed a courtrooom, You can say that in the essay or whatever you think is easy to explain. I would say one observation would be how people dress professionally even though there is no written rule that you must wear a suit in court even defendants and those who cannot afford suits will try their best to look presentable in court. This is an example of how law and society are constituive.
These are references that should be used, they were class readings. Please cite APA style and use in text citations.

In order to complete the assignment, you must complete field work, which is explained in more detail below.
The final step of this assignment is to write up your observations and analysis. This written take-home essay should be 2-3 pages in length, double-spaced. It must answer the question: “how do people’s behaviors in public space demonstrate the constitutive relationship between law and society?”
The paper should include the following parts:
o Short introduction
o Description of the field work you conducted (include how you chose this place, the time of day, duration of your observations, etc.)
o Explanation of what it means to say that law and society have a constitutive relationship (this explanation must use readings from our class and cite those readings correctly)
o Analysis of what you observed during your field work that illustrates how law and society have a constitutive relationship, using the explanation you just provided.
