    UBMISSION 3: CORRECTIONS 
    Students will choose one (1) decision making point from the decisions made by CORRECTIONS professionals: 
    mass incarceration 
     
     
    Sections of submission: 
    I. Decision making point 
    1. Describe the decision (what is it?); 
    2. State the objective considerations of the decision maker when making the decision; and 
    3. State how this decision relates to and/or furthers the mission of the criminal justice system. 
    II. Minority Population/Statistics 
    1. Identify a minority population that is disproportionately represented at the decision-making 
    point you chose in Section I. This should be the same population that was selected in 
    Submission 1: Law Enforcement, and Submission 2: Courts. 
    2. Present at least 2 published statistics that support and demonstrate the 
    disproportionate representation of the identified minority population at the 
    identified decision making point. 
    III. Reason 
    1. Propose and examine at least one (1) reason why the selected minority population 
    experiences disparate treatment at the selected decision-making point. 
    IV. Established Program/Policy 
    1. Identify and describe at least one (1) program/policy/practice that seeks to reduce the 
    disproportionate minority representation at the selected decision-making point. 
    2. If the program/policy is established, assess the effectiveness of the program/policy/practice 
    that seeks to reduce the disproportionate minority representation at the selected decision- 
    making point. (What are the results of the program? How have people benefited? How 
    many people have benefited? If possible, share statistics related to results of the program.) 
    3. If the program/policy is new, provide the rationale as to why the projected practice will be 
    effective. 
    V. Student Proposed Program/Policy 
    1. Analyze the previous sections and describe/create at least one (1) program/policy/practice 
    that you assert will reduce the disproportionate minority representation at the particular 
    decision-making point.
