Instructions
As part of the Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB) Team for your organization, you have been asked to prepare a presentation for your coworkers on the influence of cultural diversity in the workplace.
Too often, in the workplace, we received the canned presentations and often taking an organizational perspective and not looking at things from the employee’s perspective. I encourage you to outline your assignment (as a tool, no need to submit) to help organize your points and guide your research. In weeks 1-3, we have covered a number of areas you may want to include. I encourage you to be creative in your approach, providing that perspective which will hold your audience attention and – at the end – are convinced this is something they need to take to heart. Some of the other points, besides what we addressed in our discussions, you might include:
A meaningful understanding of cultural diversity
Key attributes of the cultural diversity within the workplace that can be easily observed.
Challenges associated managing and understanding a culturally diverse workplace. You might consider sharing how you would manage your own values of the diversity and culture of others within the workplace.
What is Diversity to You?”
Describe how your personal cultural values conflict with the organization’s values?

“Expanding the Definition of Family: A Sociological Perspective” AI Design Statement: “I used Grammarly to assist with grammar and sentence structure in this response. After writing my own thoughts and ideas, I accepted some of Grammarly’s suggested changes
This will be a ongoing assignment same writer needs to be used for each assignment.
Research Presentation Topic
Objective: share your research topic with the class as well as how you plan to approach the topic selected
Instructions: Think about a topic related to marriage and family you would like to learn more about, present your topic, and plan for approaching the topic to the class. The approach to the topic must be sociological and needs to be different from the approach the textbook and course notes take. The intent of the research presentation is to present additional or new information on a topic relevant to marriage and family.
Successful completion of this activity requires you to:
Review the requirements for the research presentation Presentations.
Presentation
Research a topic related to marriage and family such as: adoption, single parent families, dual-income families, working class families, privileged families, divorce, skipped-generation families, donor families, family ties, kinships, disposable ties, Hispanic families, African American families etc. You will need to fully research the topics selected and create a presentation on the topic. The research completed and presented must go beyond the information covered in this course.
Read any previous postings to this activity to ensure you are either researching a different topic from your classmates or, if you are researching a topic your classmate is working on, your approach to the topic is different from the approach your classmate is taking.
Share with the class the topic you will be researching as well as the approach you will be taking when researching the topic. You want to present a clear description of your idea/plan for the research presentation. The description provided should be 150-200 words.
Review at least one of your fellow classmates’ postings, and in at least six sentences, do one of the following:
Offer an additional point of view to help expand the idea presented in the posting you are replying to.
Suggest ways in which an idea presented in the posting you are replying to could be more clearly expressed.
Identify some resources your classmate can look at when completing their research.
Explain to your classmates some of the requirements for the research presentation they need to consider when putting the final presentation together.
Select a posting other than the posting(s() you have responded to and like at least one of your fellow classmate’s postings.
If you used an AI tool to generate ideas for the response(s) submitted for this activity, at the beginning of the work, you will need to include a paragraph that identifies the AI tool(s) used when working on this task and outline how the AI tool was used to assist you in completing the assigned task. It is important to be honest about how you used AI to assist you in this activity and to identify areas where your own thoughts can be found within your completed work. The statement should clearly explain how you used the AI tool to gather the information used within your work. For example, if I used Grammarly to help me fix some grammatical errors in the response provided, a possible AI Design Statement could be: “After using my own words to express my thoughts and ideas, I used Grammarly to check for spelling errors and correctness. I accepted the spelling changes Grammarly suggested and thought about the sentence structure, correctness, and word usage suggestions offered by Grammarly. In some cases, I accepted the changes, and in other instances, I dismissed the changes”.

Title: “The Value of Life and Road Safety: An Economic Analysis”
Instructions
Value of Life
Suppose there is a road improvement which will save 1 life per year, reducing the number of fatalities from 2 to 1 per year (out of 1000 people using the road). Assume all travelers are identical. What value of life should be used in the analysis?
Normally, we would do the equivalent of trying to compute for each traveler what is the willingness to pay for a 50% reduction in the chance of death by driving (from 2 in 1000 to 1 in 1000) and multiply that by the 1000 people whose chance of dying is reduced.
An alternative approach is to figure out the willingness to pay for the driver whose life is saved. So how much would you pay to avoid dying (with certainty) (i.e. what is your Willingness to Pay)? The answer to the first question is usually taken to be all of your resources (you would pay you everything so I won’t kill you).
Alternatively, how much can I pay you to allow you to let me kill you (Willingness to Accept)? The answer to this second question is: I would have to pay you an infinite amount of money in order for you to let me kill you.
Both of those sums of money (everything or infinity) likely exceed the willingness to pay to reduce the likelihood of dying with some probability, multiplied by the number of people experiencing it.
In economic terms, we are comparing the area under the demand curve (the consumer’s surplus) for life (which has a value asymptotically approaching infinity as the amount of life approaches 0 (death approaches certainty) for a single individual, with the marginal change in the likelihood of survival multiplied by all individuals (i.e. the quadrilateral between the y-axis of price and the same demand curve, between Pb and Pa) which describes the change in price for a change in survival).
On the one hand, using the marginal change for everyone rather than total change for the one person whose life is saved, we will give a lower value to safety improvements. On the other hand, the value of life to the individual himself is much higher than the value of life of that individual to society at large.

Service Plan for John, a 34-year-old male with substance abuse, homelessness, and mental health issues Service Plan for John: Addressing the Needs of a Vulnerable Population
Service User
John, a 34-year-old male with a history of substance abuse, homelessness, and mental health issues, is a compelling case because of the close relationship between substance abuse and mental illness, as well as housing status. His case illustrates the emerging social determinants of health in the context of vulnerable populations.
Part 1
Instructions: A service plan’s format and contents can vary based on the purpose, agency/organization standards, and case manager role. This template is intentionally general to give you a broad understanding of service plans.
For this Assignment, you may use complete sentences or bullet points to address the Service Plan section (within the boxes). You must use complete sentences for the Analysis section.
Service Plan
1. Initial Contact/Service User Information
In this box, note important details about the service user from your initial contact, including the following:
2. Contact and Demographic Information (Name, Address, Date of Birth, Phone, Email, Gender, Marital Status, Level of Education, Working Status, Religion), Current Resources Receiving, Medical Coverage, Confirmation of Informed Consent and Confidentiality.
3. Problems or Primary Concerns
In this box, note the service user’s primary concerns to be addressed in the service plan.
4. SMART Goals and Objectives
In this box, write SMART goals and objectives to address the primary concerns. These goals and objectives are developed in collaboration with the service user.
5. Sociocultural Factors Related to Goals and Objectives
In this box, note any sociocultural factors that may affect achievement of the goals and/or objectives.
6. Strengths and Interests
In this box, identify 2–3 strengths that the service user possesses and/or interests relevant to planning.
7. Plan for Services
In this box, identify appropriate services in the community and begin to plan for them (e.g., mental health services).
8. Referral System
In this box, include more details or action steps about connecting to the services (e.g., the service user will have an appointment on X day, or the practitioner will call Dr. X).
9. Length of Service and Follow-Up
In this box, anticipate the length of time needed (e.g., 5 weeks) to meet the overall service plan goals and determine what kind of case management follow-up will be required.
Part 2
Write a 1-page analysis addressing the following:
Justify your plan, based on your service user, their strengths, and their needs.
Explain how to ensure that the plan is person-centered. (That is, how would you empower the service user to engage in the planning instead of relying on you for answers? How would you ensure the service user has choice and dignity?)
Assess what is missing from your plan, based on gaps in the case study. List 2–3 further questions you would ask to get the needed information. Then, explain how you would engage the service user if they only answer the questions with “I don’t know.”
