Title: Completing a Project in Excel 2021/365: Tips and Reminders
The third assignment is a project. You probably are familiar with this from the Computer Applications class. You download instructions, a start file that you modify, and possibly an additional data file. Then following the instructions, you modify the start file, save and close it, and then upload it and submit it to MindTap/SAM for grading. Please review additional information in one of the intro modules if you are not familiar with the process.
Download the project instructions FIRST. As you work through the training, take notes on how to complete the steps in the project if you are not familiar with doing them.
YOU MUST USE EXCEL 2021/365 on a Windows PC or Macbook. YOU CANNOT COMPLETE PROJECTS ON A TABLET OR CHROMEBOOK. CAMPUS COMPUTERS HAVE THE REQUIRED SOFTWARE.
TIPS:
Make sure you know where you are saving your files.
Make sure you name your start file EXACTLY as per the instructions – no extra characters!
Make sure to SAVE and CLOSE your final project file before uploading.
You can save your file locally or to Microsoft OneDrive but you will be unable to upload from Apple iCloud.
Download the instructions and then if you don’t remember how to complete a step, refer back to the eText.
Q1. Please confirm that you have the software needed for the project or that you will be using the computers on campus. Please be specific – Windows or Mac and what version.
Q2. Download the project instructions. Select one step (other than the step to save the file) and then provide a reference to the section in the eText for it.
Q3. Without giving out any answers, what tip can you offer others as they complete the project? Continue this conversation for your replies.
Discussion Reminders:
Your primary discussion board response is due Wednesday evening (11:59 pm ET) of the course week to receive full credit.
Peer responses are due Saturday evening of the course week, but can be submitted early.
Saturday is the final day of the course week to submit any responses for that week’s discussion.
Your initial/main/primary reply to my post must be at least 150 words of content, and your two required peer responses must be at least 50 content words each.

“Streamlining Decision-Making Processes in a Small Business through Data Analysis and Automation”
For
this project, think of a situation in business/organization or in your personal
life where you can apply the analysis and tools we learned throughout the
semester to improve or automate decision-making. You can use
functions, pivot table, macros, as well as things beyond what you leaned in the
class.
The
goal is that application of these tools can help the business/organization to
run more efficiently or effectively. There are two general directions you can
take to achieve this goal:
·
extract insights from data to help firm improve their operations
or make better decisions,
·
automate certain operations so that it is easier for users/decision-makers
to search and access information or insights.
You
can pick one of them or do a hybrid of both.
Submission
Your
final submission should include an Excel file with your data and
analysis and a recorded presentation with slides that explain: 1. The
scenario 2. How your analysis/automation help with the business/organization.
I
am grading your project mainly based on two aspects.
·
The technical aspect: whether the tools you use is appropriate
for the analysis and the sophistication level of the tools
·
The business aspect: whether you are solving a meaningful
problem (to aswer the “so what” question) -
