  • “Utopia: A World of Equality, Prosperity, and Harmony” Introduction: Welcome to Utopia, a world unlike any other. In this utopian society, all citizens live in peace and harmony, free from the problems and injust

    A PERFECT WORLD
    FINAL PROJECT
For this Final Project, you will be creating a utopia. Consider real world problems and try to solve them. Consider all of the dystopian fictions we have looked at and try to avoid those mistakes. How can you do better? What are the most important aspects of building a society? Is it a place without hunger, suffering or want? Is it a place of equality, fulfillment and productivity? Be careful of unintended consequences. You really have to think it through. Remember, some of the worst places in the 20th century (Nazi Germany, Stalin’s Soviet Union) were someone’s idea of a utopia.
    1. Your utopia must include these two things:
    Discussion of a political system
    Discussion of an economic system
You will also discuss how these systems will not be used for injustice. How will you ensure they will work well for everyone? You must employ persuasive techniques to show that your approach will not replicate the problems already seen in these systems.
    2. Your utopia must select one contemporary problem and show how it is solved in your world (not just say it is solved-create the solution).
    3. Your project will discuss at least 3 aspects of society from the list below:
    Education
    Natural resources
    Family life
    Health
    Wealth and Poverty
    Spirituality
    Jobs
    Personal Freedoms
    Housing
    Urban Planning
    Law and Order
    The Arts
    Technology
    Population Control
    Aging and Death
    Sex and Gender
    Equality
    YOUR ESSAY:
You will discuss a minimum of 6 aspects of your utopia (political, economic, solution to a current problem and three socials of your choice).
Consider place and time: will your utopia be the whole world, off-world, a country, a small territory? Your utopia can be in the present and the future- but it cannot be in the past.
You will have an introduction in which you describe your world in specific terms-what it looks like, how its citizens are content, and how your utopia will succeed.
You will name and visualize your utopia. Your utopia will have a motto.
The project will use MLA formatting.
Some research is required to help you form your utopia (think about using research when addressing your contemporary problem, or when covering your political or economic systems).
Remember to cite all information you do not invent.
This Final Project requires a minimum of 4 outside sources.

  • Title: The Power of Perseverance: Overcoming Adversity in College Topic Sentence: College can be a daunting experience, especially for first-generation students like myself who lack the resources and support system that others may have. However,

Read The Little Seagull Handbook sections W-5 through W-5c in this link:https://dallascollege.brightspace.com/d2l/common/d…
In a Word document (saved as a .docx file), write a 200-250 word paragraph that narrates (see W-5b for more on narration). You choose the topic; pick something from your life that you know well. Don’t use the web to search for a topic. Just think of something that can explain by telling a brief story to help readers understand it. Don’t use AI to generate ideas or to edit your writing; just give me a pure sample of your writing abilities. Any use of AI will earn a zero with no chance to resubmit.
Be sure to include a topic sentence (put this in bold) and to use repetition (underline words that create repetition), parallel structures (italicize these), and transitions (highlight these). Use W-5c to help here.
