 This week’s research topics include the importance of small businesses, comparing business owners and entrepreneurs, social capital, and motivations for starting a business.
Post 1:  Cover each of these points as you discuss your research.  There is no order, but your discussion should address these points in a coherent and informative way.
What does your research say about the importance of small businesses to economic growth in the United States or any country?  What sources (by name) did you research for this information?
Compare business owner and an entrepreneur?  Who were your sources (by name)?
Explain social capital, and why is it important?  Who were your sources (by name)?
Are there many different types of motivations behind starting a business? What would motivate you to start a business?
Identify at least one point from this week’s video titled Financing a Business that applies to the above topics.
Remember that research sources are people and not web sites.  They may be writers, researchers, or practitioners.

The purpose of this activity is to be able to pick out the key parts of a research study that you have just learned in chapter 1.
You need to do a search for a research article. It needs to come from one of these sites science daily, pub med, or google scholar. You can then type in any topic of interest to find an article that will work. Then complete the following:
1. Put the weblink to your article (+1)
2. What is the population/sample of the study? (+1)
3. Is this an observation or an experiment? How do you know? (+2)
4. Was the data collected qualitative or quantitative? What was that data? (+2)
5. List one thing you found interesting in the study (+2)

The final project for this class is to create your own or improve upon a current healthcare technology (EHR, 911 services, telehealth, etc…)

Your executive director has tasked you with conducting some preliminary research on an emerging and perhaps even controversial topic in your field. These findings will be organized for discussion at the next board of directors meeting in order to assess whether or not funding should be allocated for further study. You received little direction on what types of sources are expected, so you decide to begin the project by evaluating a variety of resources to determine how best to inform your project.

Choose a topic on a newer or emerging topic in your field of study.
Use the Rasmussen library databases to locate a minimum of five peer-reviewed, scholarly articles, published in the past five years, on this topic.
Use a general search engine to locate a minimum of five non-scholarly sources, published within the last three years, on this topic.
Scrutinize all ten sources and compile your findings into the matrix below. 
Submit the matrix as a single document.
Include a references page that lists all ten sources.

The Letter Package Assignment Scenario
Your assignment involves a combination of research and writing. You are the marketing director for Chalmers Controls based in your hometown and your company is considering overseas markets for the company’s language translation software. Your boss, Roxana Wheaton, has asked you to research potential overseas markets, research effective communication strategies in your proposed country, summarize your research and results in a memo to her, and finally draft a letter to a potential distributor in the country you have identified as a viable market.
You will choose a country that you believe will be a good overseas market for your company’s language translation software (you may choose any country that is of interest to you). Your international research begins with learning about the country, how business writing is conducted, and what expectations are for correspondence with a potential distributor in that country. Your sources must be no older than three years; anything older than that would lack credibility.
