  • Addressing Unconscious Bias in the Military Workplace: A Memo to Supervisors

Note: My organization is the Military. I also attached a template from the Professor.
For the Unit 9 Assignment, you will be writing a professional memo to a supervisor in your imagined future workplace (or current one, if that is applicable) that details how the company can best address employees’ unconscious biases. For example, you might argue that the company should require a workshop. Indicate whether unconscious bias testing should be part of the strategy, and mention at least three ways that unconscious bias affects the workplace.
Note: Submitting the memo to an actual supervisor is not a requirement for the assignment.
The memo should be approximately one to one and a half pages in memo format, not including the title and references page (memos are typically single-spaced with double-spacing between paragraphs). Make sure to edit for clarity and conciseness, and paragraphs should be well-developed and organized. You should draw connections to the Unit 9 Reading and at least one credible source that is not included in the course readings. Review the resource on business memos for what to include in the header and how best to open and close your memo. This assignment is worth 85 points.
You will need to include an APA formatted title and references page and use APA citations for the memo; use memo formatting for the body of the document.

  • Title: The Impact of Critical Analysis on Understanding Diversity in Society

    Overview
In this activity, you will have the opportunity to examine how using critical analysis tools influences your interactions with others and your understanding of the role of diversity in society. You will also consider how the analysis of your topic might have turned out differently if you looked at it through a different lens. Completing this activity will result in a draft of the reflection section of your project. It also provides an opportunity to obtain valuable feedback from your instructor that you can incorporate into your project submission.
    Directions
In this activity, you will work on the second part of the reflection section of your project. You should consider the feedback from your instructor on the previous activity and use your responses to inform this assignment. Include diverse perspectives from varied sources to support your points. Look to the SNHU Shapiro Library for assistance and consider the sources you have used thus far to support the critical analysis of your topic. First, you will explain how the analysis of your topic in diversity may have been different if you had used one of the other general education lenses. Next, you will explain how critically analyzing diversity positively affects your interactions with people. Finally, you will describe how this course has impacted your understanding of the role of diversity in society.
You are not required to answer each question below the rubric criteria, but you may use them to better understand the criteria and guide your thinking.
Specifically, you must address the following rubric criteria:
Integrate reliable evidence from varied sources throughout your paper to support your analysis.
It is important to support the analysis by drawing from a more diverse pool of perspectives from varied sources. This is different from the Citations and Attributions rubric criterion.
Reliable evidence from varied sources should be interwoven throughout the paper, while citing and attributing sources will be represented by APA in-text citations and a reference list at the end of your work.
You will be evaluated on both criteria.
Explain at least one way your analysis might have differed if you had used one of the other general education lenses to analyze your topic.
This should be a brief (3–5 sentences) reflection about how using the language and perspective from a different lens would shift your view of your topic.
Explain how critically analyzing diversity adds value to interactions with people in various contexts.
Consider ways individual conversations are strengthened by a greater awareness of diversity. Consider including an example from your life.
Describe how this course has helped you understand the role of diversity in society.
Consider how having a better understanding of biases, intersectionality, culture, and identity contributes to your perceptions of diversity in society. Also, how might your critical analysis skills impact how you approach topics of diversity?
    What to Submit
Submit your short paper as a 1- to 2-page Microsoft Word document with double spacing, 12-point Times New Roman font, and one-inch margins. Sources should be cited according to APA style. Consult the Shapiro Library APA Style Guide for more information on citations.

You will critically analyze a feedback loop in this project through social, historical, and theoretical approaches to diversity and the four general education lenses: history, humanities, natural and applied sciences, and social science. This enhanced understanding will allow you to draw connections between diversity, self, and engagement with society. It is important to support the analysis by drawing from a more diverse pool of perspectives from varied sources. This is different from the Citations and Attributions rubric criterion.
Reliable evidence from varied sources should be interwoven throughout the paper. Citing and attributing sources should be represented as APA in-text citations and a reference list at the end of your work.
You will be evaluated on both criteria.
II. Topic description: In this section, you will identify and discuss the factors that shape your thesis statement.
Introduce your topic with an effective description and contextual information.

  • IDS 400 Module Two Activity: Topic Selection and Preliminary Research “The Importance of Citations: Acknowledging Sources and Avoiding Plagiarism”

IDS 400 Module Two Activity Guidelines and Rubric
    Overview
For your project, you will examine a specific topic, such as an issue or event in diversity, and how it impacts individuals and society. You will demonstrate your ability to think critically, investigate, and communicate clearly. Diversity influences society, and society influences diversity, creating a feedback loop between them. You will critically analyze a feedback loop in this project through social, historical, and theoretical approaches to diversity as well as the four general education lenses: history, humanities, natural and applied sciences, and social science.
For this assignment, you will select the topic you will be working on and begin to collect the required elements for your analysis. This assignment requires you to gather reliable evidence from varied sources and use them to introduce your topic effectively. All these elements will prepare you to complete the project, where you will need to use evidence to support your points.
    Directions
Review the module resources and the instructor feedback you received on the previous activity. Then, visit the IDS 400 Library Guide for guidance on how to select and narrow a topic. You may use the topic that you worked with in the previous module or choose something different now that you have reflected further. Do some preliminary research on your topic to make sure you can address each of the required elements. Please remember that you will not be able to change your topic after the end of this module. You should begin to gather the sources you will integrate into your project, which must include two resources from course materials and two resources from the library.
You are not required to answer each question below the rubric criteria but may use them to better understand the criteria and guide your thinking.
Specifically, you must address the following rubric criteria:
Integrate reliable evidence from varied sources throughout your paper to support your analysis.
It is important to draw from a more diverse pool of perspectives from varied sources to support the analysis. This is different from the Citations and Attributions rubric criterion.
Reliable evidence from varied sources should be interwoven throughout the paper itself, while citing and attributing sources will be represented as APA in-text citations and a reference list at the end of your work.
You will be evaluated on both criteria.
Describe your topic with effective details and contextual information.
What main points should you include about your topic? What other details are needed to ensure a thorough description?
Describe a population significant to your topic. Include information such as demographics, cultural practices, social identity, and key challenges.
Examples could include a population who is directly impacted by the topic, a group that works with those directly impacted, or a group that has strong feelings about the topic.
Articulate how the topic has shaped the lives and experiences of your chosen population.
What stories clearly illustrate how the topic has impacted the lives and experiences of your chosen population?
Explain your choice of one general education interdisciplinary lens for analyzing your topic.
What made you choose one lens over the others? Was it an easy decision? Why or why not?
Construct a thesis statement that combines your topic, population, cultural situation, and choice of general education interdisciplinary lens.
Your thesis statement should clearly and concisely state the relationships between your topic, population, cultural situation, and lens. It acts as a hypothesis proposing how these elements will work together during your critical analysis.
    What to Submit
Submit your short paper as a 1- to 2-page Microsoft Word document with double spacing, 12-point Times New Roman font, and one-inch margins. Sources should be cited according to APA style. Consult the Shapiro Library APA Style Guide for more information on citations.
