  • “Addressing the Hidden Harm of Mandatory Minimum Sentencing in Australia: Recommendations for Effective Criminal Justice Reform”

This task invites you to closely examine a ‘hidden’ harm related to a criminal justice activity, process or policy that exists in Australia. Choose an issue that you consider requires better responses from governments and/or other powerful institutions of ‘justice’ and have a go at identifying what better responses look like.
This task enables you to build your skills in the area of persuasive policy briefing by providing advice ‘up the chain’ (in an imaginary government organisation) that captures what you see as the best way to enact reform. Synthesising complex evidence is a key skill for future criminologists, criminal justice actors and policy makers who are working towards ‘doing justice’ better in the future.
The audience for this task should be a senior advisor to a relevant Minister currently in government (can be real or imagined). This means that we expect you to write in a formal and structured manner using the Briefing Note template provided. A Briefing Note provides a description of an issue that draws on research and practice-based evidence to provide options and recommendations to address that particular issue. Briefing Notes inform decision-makers about an issue by succinctly describing key pieces of information.

  • Title: Demographics and Leadership in the NYPD: Addressing Community Issues

Discuss the demographics of the NYPD police department (Although you do not have to use where you live because the data may not be available, you are required to use a real police department/area, not a hypothetical area. Choose a city or county that can be researched and show your sources).
Discuss the characteristics of the population in which the department serves.
Identify and discuss a specific problem that is faced by the community (e.g., high rate of property crime, high rate of gang violence)
Discuss the key features of two prominent leadership styles discussed in the lecture and readings.
Of those two styles, recommend which style should be instituted within the department.
Include a justification (backed by scholarly works) regarding why this is the preferred leadership style.
Provide a discussion on how the leadership style implemented can effectively address the problem that you have identified.

  • Title: Enhancing Criminal Investigations through the Adoption of Kaseware Law Enforcement RMS

In the Cyber Fraud Tech Briefing Activity, you identified two Record Management Systems (RMSs) that represent viable alternatives to the system described in the briefing. In this assignment, you use your loss control/prevention and technology skills to take a deeper dive into one of your chosen RMSs. Create a presentation for fellow officers and decision-makers that addresses each of the following, as they relate to your chosen technology (from last week’s activity). The goal is to include details that provide significant insight into areas such as its adoption, use, purpose, et cetera. The presentation should do the following:
Justify 4 important criteria for evaluating a criminal investigation technology for possible adoption.
Recommend an RMS suitable for adoption based upon the application of all identified criteria and the information sought in the Cyber Fraud Tech Briefing scenario.
Cite and describe a real-world example that effectively illustrates the use and outcomes of your chosen technology.
Explain 2 significant limitations or downsides of a chosen technology that could impact decision-making regarding its adoption, including supporting quantifiable metrics or data. You might consider areas such as cost, ethical use, training, maintenance, et cetera.
    Presentation Submission Requirements
Use PowerPoint to create the equivalent of a 5-7-minute presentation if delivered orally.
PowerPoint: 8-10 slides. All slides should be supported by detailed speaker notes that address the required criteria without the aid of a voice-over or speaker.
This course requires the use of Strayer Writing Standards (SWS). The library is your home for SWS assistance, including citations and formatting. Please refer to the Library site for all support. Check with your professor for any additional instructions.
The specific course learning outcomes associated with this assignment are:
Examine technology and data tools for use in the criminal justice system that provides Data-informed decision-making.
Analyze the impact of technology on various aspects of the criminal justice system.
Evaluate ethical issues that criminal justice technologies pose to the law enforcement community and society.
One program I found was Kaseware Law Enforcement. If you find another RMS your welome to use it. I must have the minimum of Crime Mapping, Data Analytics, Database Queries with search parameter such as name, address, phone number, Social Media Data Minning, and Police Records Management System.

  • FRCP Assignment: Application of Rules of Procedure in Hiibel v. Sixth Judicial District Court of Nevada

    Introduction
There are hundreds of jurisdictions in the United States on the state and federal level. Each jurisdiction can have its own set of laws, including rules of evidence and procedure that govern how an individual’s rights are protected. A defendant may receive greater protections in one state jurisdiction than in another. During our review of the material, in the book, understand that often you’re learning about federal law or common law. However, Florida law mirrors federal law very closely. For example, the Federal Rules of Evidence and Florida Rules of Evidence are nearly identical substantively and are even numbered similarly. Florida simply adds a “90” in front of its rules of evidence. Federal Rule of Evidence 403 is 90.403 in Florida. As we learn more about the different laws that govern criminal procedure feel comfortable that your knowledge will be easily applied to any Florida scenario. Unless specified, please use Florida law when answering your assignments.
    Case
Read the case of Hiibel vs. Sixth Judicial Court of Nevada, in Chapter 4, page 134, of your book; Reference the full Hiibel case for the 5th amendmentLinks to an external site.. Is the “Stop and Identify” Law Reasonable?

  • Collaborative Engagement and Transformation: Analyzing Diversity Conversations within a Chosen Population

    Overview
For this activity, you will critically analyze how those within your chosen population engage with your topic. You will identify what is already working well and opportunities for change. Completing this activity will result in a draft of the critical analysis section of your project. It also provides an opportunity to obtain valuable feedback from your instructor that you can incorporate into your project submission.
    Directions
In this activity, you will consider the elements of your topic you can develop to encourage, promote, and transform conversations about diversity. Include diverse perspectives from varied sources to support your points. You should continue to gather the sources you will integrate into your final project, which include two resources from course materials and two resources from the library. Look to the SNHU Shapiro Library for assistance in finding evidence and resources from outside the course. For this activity, you will discuss how to collaborate constructively with your chosen population group. You will then describe at least one positive element related to your topic and, finally, one element that could benefit from change.
You are not required to answer each question below the rubric criteria but may use them to better understand the criteria and guide your thinking.
Specifically, you must address the following rubric criteria:
Integrate reliable evidence from varied sources throughout your paper to support your analysis.
It is important to draw from a more diverse pool of perspectives from varied sources to support the analysis. This is different from the Citations and Attributions rubric criterion.
Reliable evidence from varied sources should be interwoven throughout the paper itself, while citing and attributing sources will be represented as APA in-text citations and a reference list at the end of your work.
You will be evaluated on both criteria.
Discuss how you would constructively collaborate with your population to encourage their engagement with your chosen topic.
Consider how you would develop a dialogue with your population about the topic you have chosen. What are your ideas for supporting constructive and inclusive conversation and programs of engagement?
Describe at least one positive element within your topic that supports transformation.
What conversational and collaborative approaches have already been successful? Visualize how this positive element could have a ripple effect towards a transformative conversation about your topic. This is not simply your opinion but should be supported by reliable evidence.
If you do not think your topic has been engaged with positively or successfully, explain why you have come to this conclusion.
Describe at least one specific element within your topic that could benefit from change.
What potential opportunities are there to improve your topic? What could be done differently to encourage, promote, or transform your topic? Build off ways that your topic has been discussed and represented in the past. This is not simply your opinion but should be supported by reliable evidence.
    What to Submit
Submit your short paper as a 1- to 2-page Microsoft Word document with double spacing, 12-point Times New Roman font, and one-inch margins. Sources should be cited according to APA style
