  • “The Road to Civil War: Exploring the Political, Economic, and Social Tensions in America from 1788 to 1877”

    Almost immediately after winning independence from Great Britain, the United States was
    plagued by philosophical, economic, and sectional differences that ultimately led to the Civil
    War. Your assignment is to write a 750-1,500 word essay that examines and explains the
    political, economic, and social tensions prevalent in American society from the ratification of
    the Constitution in 1788 to the end of Reconstruction in 1877. Be sure to explain how these
    tensions led to war and how the Civil War and Reconstruction did or did not resolve these
    tensions.
    Please discuss all the following topics: republicanism, federalism vs. states’ rights, the political
    parties and their differences, the market economy vs. semi-subsistence economy, manifest
    destiny, westward expansion of slavery, the Civil War, and Reconstruction.
    Be sure to include specific details to explain these topics. Do not copy and past your notes on
    these topics. Instead, develop an essay that discusses how these topics are interrelated and
    ultimately led to the Civil War.  Write this essay using  only the notes I attached, if outside sources are used make sure to cite them.
