  • Examining Research Methods: A Comparison of Qualitative and Quantitative Approaches in the Field of [Program of Study] “Developing a Strong Problem Statement: A Step-by-Step Guide for Dissertation Writing”

    Exam Content
When conducting research, it is necessary to know the difference between qualitative and quantitative research methods.
This assignment has two parts. Complete Parts 1 and 2 below.
Part 1: Identifying Qualitative and Quantitative Research Characteristics
Locate 1 qualitative and 1 quantitative research article on a topic in your program of study (e.g., DBA, DHA, DM, EDD) from the University Library. Add the references to the articles you selected in the reference section of the Research Outline Template.
Write a 700- to 1,400-word analysis about the articles in which you:
Explain what characteristics make the study and research methods used quantitative.
Explain what characteristics make the study and research methods used qualitative.
Analyze the major differences between the 2 types of research methods.
Refer to Quantitative and Qualitative Terminology for examples of qualitative or quantitative language that may be used in each article.
Note: Part 1 of this assignment needs to be submitted in a separate document using the Student Paper Template. Provide properly formatted citations and references. You will be using the Research Outline Template for Part 2 of the assignment.
Part 2: Supporting Selected Research Method Appropriateness
Using peer-reviewed journal articles, classroom materials, and information from the weekly overview, select a research method (qualitative or quantitative) that you might use to achieve your study purpose.
Write a 200- to 350-word explanation of the research method you selected and why this method appropriately aligns with your problem, purpose, and research question. To help justify your chosen methodology, you may find it helpful to review and use as guides a few finished dissertations in the ProQuest database that used the same methodology you are considering. Substantiate your discussion and provide appropriate citations and references.
Incorporating feedback is essential and beneficial in the learning process and is an expectation throughout the dissertation journey. Reading feedback, reflecting on the feedback, and then properly incorporating the feedback will help to progress through the dissertation journey and improve your writing, critical thinking, and APA formatting skills.
    Change Matrix
A change matrix describes the changes you make to a document based on instructor feedback.
Review the Week 5 feedback from your instructor on the research question(s) and using the Change Matrix in Appendix E of the Research Outline Template, record the instructor’s feedback in the first column, state in your own words the feedback provided in the second column, and explain what you have done to address the feedback in the third column.
    Checklist
    Part 1:
Completed article analysis in a separate document, using the Student Example Paper.
    Part 2:
Continue using the Research Outline Template provided in Week 3 and:
Revise your problem and purpose statements, if needed.
Revise the RQs from Week 5 based on instructor’s feedback.
Add your research method to the Methodology section and include an explanation, using scholarly tone, of why you selected the methodology. Substantiate your discussion using peer-reviewed literature.
Complete the Change Matrix in Appendix E of the Research Outline Template for feedback provided in Week 5.
Format in-text citations and references according to APA guidelines.
For a well-structured scholarly paragraph please refer to the MEAL Plan section in Appendix H of the Research Outline Template.
Use the APA Tutorials located in Doctoral Writing Resources and format your paper according to APA guidelines.
Reminder: Before submitting your assignment, proofread for grammatical and sentence structure, re-read the assignment directions, and refer to the Summative Assessment rubric to ensure each element of the assignment has been addressed.
Submit Part 1 as a separate document.
Submit Part 2 as your updated Research Outline Template.
Thank you for your W3 submission!  The purpose of this assignment was to use the Guide to Developing the Problem Statement and Dissertation Series Tutorial – Problem Formulation. As you continue to go through the assignments and updating your Research Outline Template you are familiarizing yourself with the steps to writing your more extensive dissertation.

  • “Creating Change: Using Digital Media to Inspire Effective Problem Solving in Your Community”

    CM220M5-1: Develop strategies
for effective problem solving using digital media.
    Assessment Introduction and Instructions: For
the Module 5 Assessment, you will design a slide presentation, video, or other
approved digital media format using the ideas from your Module 4 persuasive
essay. The purpose is to share your argument for change with your community,
inspiring your audience to change how they think about the topic.
    Develop
a digital media presentation that is designed to have a strong impact on the
audience by revising the essay you submitted in Module 4. Your digital media
presentation is not necessarily testing your design skills, though you should
certainly try to practice the design suggestions provided in the Writing Center
resources. More importantly, you are practicing your composition skills by
applying persuasive strategies in a new context with visual media. You will
demonstrate visual rhetoric skills by combining text and images to compel your
audience to recognize the importance of your argument for change.
Your presentation will need to include
    the following:
Title slide (for a slide presentation) or opening credits (for a
    video).
A clear argument for change in your community (the one you have been
    writing about throughout the course).
    Your thesis statement.
A minimum of 8–10 slides (slide presentation, not including the
title and references slide) or approximately a 5- to 7-minute (video).
Research from at least four credible sources to support the main
message. These can be sources from your essay.
Minimally, two information-oriented visuals like a chart, diagram,
or infographic to represent key information in your argument.
3–4 photos or relevant clip art.
A visually engaging design template that reinforces the overall
    theme of the presentation.
Demonstration of the design principles from the Module 5 readings,
such as trimming text and using a color scheme.
A concluding slide with a closing technique, such as a call to
    action.
Reference slide (for a slide presentation) or an attached Word
    document (for a video).
I’m including the Module 4 essay.  As well as the Module 5 checklist, competency instructions and an example.  I am just doing powerpoint for this one even though it gives the option to do a video.
