  • “Optimizing Parking in a Growing City: Utilizing Smart Technology for Efficient Parking Management”

As a city manager for a mid-size city, you must be able to examine patterns and trends to highlight organizational performance and support organizational strategic planning. One of the ways that is done is through analyzing the statistics. Still, just presenting the numbers is not always the most efficient way to present your analysis.
    Scenario
You are a city manager for a mid-size city that is anticipating increases in population and auto traffic as new industries move into the downtown area. Parking spaces are already hard to find and traffic congestion can be problematic from commuters and events like concerts and sports. Before considering adding additional parking, you think it is possible to use existing parking more effectively through a smart parking app that identifies parking space availability in different parking lots throughout the city in real time.
In this assessment, you will demonstrate your skill in information visualization when you present your recommendations to the City Council members who are responsible for deciding whether the city invests in resources to set in motion the smart parking space app.
    Preparation
Review the parking space usage file.
Select any 2 parking lots. For each one, review the scatter plot showing the occupancy rate at each time stamp during the week of 11/20/2022 –11/26/2022. Identify whether occupancy rates are time dependent. If so, identify the times that seem to experience the highest occupancy rates.
Research “smart cities” to provide guidance and support for your presentation.
    Assessment Deliverable
Create a 10- to 12-slide information visualization presentation including voice-over or screencast video. Include the following in your presentation:
Outline the rationale and goals of the project.
Analyze the box plot charts showing the occupancy rates for each day of the week and interpret the results.
Analyze the box plot charts showing the occupancy rates for each parking lot and interpret the results.
Choose 2 scatter plot charts showing occupancy rate against the time of day over the course of the week and interpret the results.
Make a recommendation about continuing with the implementation of this project.

  • HRMT Capstone Report: External and Internal Analyses

Please finish Part 1 Introduction and Part 2 External and Internal Analyses of the HRMT Capstone Report. Instructions for each section are highlighted in yellow. Please review the project proposal to review the project scope and issues. Please edit the introduction so it is 2 pages long and find credible external references to support all data. Any external data for introduction or external analyses must use references from accredited institutions or government agencies. Please also review the HR frameworks and make the necessary changes. Please refer to Appendixes for all frameworks and additional information. Do not make separate sections for each framework within the internal and external analyses. Sections can be created for external and internal, merged together as storytelling rather than reporting. Please develop a fishbone diagram that is a visual. The Fishbone diagram must be based on internal analyses. Please see the document for a draft fishbone analysis. Please create a simplified SWOT table in point form and expand within the written portion to review the SWOT. SWOT is based on internal and external analyses but must be an HR SWOT. Please develop an HR problem statement in 1-2 paragraphs after the internal and external analysis. Within the surveys, LR or Lindsay is the Allied Health Director, Glauber or GM is the Operations Manager and Neha or NS is the current PCC Lead for Allied Health. Please ensure to use dates specific to Allied Health and not medical.

  • Title: Navigating a Globalized World: Reflections on Globalization, Cosmopolitanism, and Social Justice

In this final reflective essay you must write a 7 to 10 page (double spaced) paper addressing the following questions and incorporating at least 10 resources from the course cited properly (this can be readings, videos, etc. and you can use APA, Chicago, etc.):
Now that you are heading off into life after graduation, describe how you will take the concepts learned in this course and your overall studies at Cal into your future work and life as a member of a global community. These sub-questions should be addressed in your response, but you do not need to address them in order.
How has your understanding of the concept of globalization changed due to exposure to the course readings and how do you see yourself as an actor in an increasingly globalized world? Think through Steger´s concepts related to globalism, globality, etc.
How does an understanding of cosmopolitanism shift how you see yourself in relation to others, and what kinds of educational experiences in and outside of schools have shaped your worldview?
Prior to this course, how did you understand the concept of global social justice, and how has that shifted due to the readings regarding the Capabilities Approach?
How has your understanding of cultural practices shifted, if at all, and how can you be an active agent in shaping and reforming harmful cultural practices (note, you must be very specific here, do not generalize to ethnicity or fun, food and festivals)?
In what ways, if any, did your work on the data analysis assignment raise your awareness of global inequality in terms of SDGs on quality education and advancing gender equality?
How do you connect the ideas and lessons from this course to your major field of study (e.g. Sociology, English, Media Studies, etc.).
While you may not know exactly what your future plans are, regardless of your next steps for career and life, please list any ways that you can apply the course ideas to your thoughts and actions? What ways do you think and act now that you are a Cal alumni?

  • “Anthropological Observation: Exploring Cultural Scenes”

    Purpose:
The goal of this activity is to observe a ‘cultural scene’ for 25 minutes and take notes as an anthropologist would (i.e. based on everything you have learned in the course to-date). You will submit a worksheet (attached) about your observations.
During this people watching activity, start to think about concepts that you’ve learned in class that fit with your observations. Be sure to take really detailed notes about the scene itself and the individuals and groups in the scene because you will use and build on this information in Week 5 to complete the assignment due that week.
    Directions: Use Attached Worksheet
Choose a time and location where you can observe a cultural scene with multiple people (mall, public transportation, coffee shop, etc.).  Quietly observe people for 25 minutes and simply watch what is going on. Do not talk to or interview people during this time.
    B. Collect field notes (handwritten recommended).
    C. Fill out and submit the attached worksheet.  Your completed worksheet will include information about:
    Location
    Time of day
Scenery (for example- lighting, furniture, plants, sounds, temperature, smell, vibe/energy, etc.).
Details about the people in the scene (their characteristics, their behavior).
Reflection about what this activity was like for you.  What was it like to observe others, now that you’re learning about anthropology?  Was this different than people watching you engaged in before starting this class?

  • Title: Current and Future Trends in Needs Assessment and Evaluation in Instructional Design and Technology

Begin this assignment by searching the literature for reliable sources that examine the topic of current and future trends in the use of needs assessment and evaluation in the field of instructional design and technology. Your search should extend beyond a simple search of the web, as the resources included in the PG Library holdings are plentiful. As you review the various sources, pay particular attention to those that relate to training needs assessment and evaluation.
In a 4- to 5-page paper, present an analysis of the results of your literature review. Discuss some of the findings on trends that are influencing how practices in performance needs assessment and the evaluation of training solutions are changing. What are some of the new approaches that technology has helped to advance? Are there any models that have been used in our instructional design industry that have been improved upon, or are now in question? What does the future hold for more effective performance assessment and training evaluation?
Incorporate the sources you located in your literature search to support your points. Make sure you cite at least five (5) scholarly articles in your paper. Your paper should adhere to APA current edition style guidelines.
