  • Title: Time Use Analysis: Analyzing a Time Log for Productivity and Efficiency

    Analyze a Time Log
As you have learned in this chapter, managing your time and developing an orderly approach to your work are important for your success on the job. In this activity, you will complete a daily time log. After you have charted your activities, you will use your chart to help you determine your most and least productive time periods.
Prepare a time-use log similar to the one shown in Figure 9-1 using Microsoft Office Excel software. Use 15-minute time intervals. Prepare the chart to cover your entire waking day (e.g., 6:30 a.m. until 11:00 p.m.) for one week.
Complete your time-use log. Record your activities every 15 minutes as you progress through each day and evening. Record all your activities: studying, attending class or going to work, watching TV, talking on the telephone, eating, and so on. Anything you do!
Summarize your time spent by hours into categories, for example, school, work, leisure, sleep, and hobbies. Use another category to group activities that occurred only once or twice for very short periods. Create a pie chart showing the percentages of time spent in each different category as part of your total time.
Analyze your time log. Identify the hours where you used your time most productively, as well as, those hours where you wasted your time (if you have any). During what hours do you get the most accomplished? During what hours do you tend to waste your time?
Write a short report (Five sentences of so) entitled Time Use Analysis discussing your time-use log. Include the pie chart in your report.
Submit the report and your analysis through this link.

  • “The Impact of English Colonization and the American Revolution on Society and Government”

    INTRODUCTION
During the seventeenth century, Great Britain established thirteen colonies along the Atlantic coast of the North American continent. Though they were united by their connection to English society and the British government, each colony had a very different experience in the New World: the settlers who established the colonies brought with them different motivations and expectations, and the unique geographic characteristics of each colony shaped the development of those colonial societies. After more than a century of colonial rule, the ties that united the colonies to their home country frayed. In the decades following the Seven Years’ War, the colonial relationship degenerated into a series of provocations and counter-provocations over the future of North America. The Revolutionary War transformed the American colonies into the United States, and brought tremendous changes to the political and social institutions of the new country.
In this assessment, you will examine the motivations for English colonization and the organization and government of several English colonies. You will also consider the causes of the American Revolution and describe its effects on the population of the new United States.

Your submission must be your original work. No more than a combined total of 30% of the submission and no more than a 10% match to any one individual source can be directly quoted or closely paraphrased from sources, even if cited correctly. An originality report is provided when you submit your task that can be used as a guide.
You must use the rubric to direct the creation of your submission because it provides detailed criteria that will be used to evaluate your work. • “Tax Planning for Funding Your Children’s Education: Exploring Investment Sales, Interest Deductions, IRA/Roth, and Educational Tax Credits”

Each member of this group discussion will teach the other members about a tax planning topic based on a client scenario. This discussion will inform the short paper due in this module and prepare you for advising the client in the final project.
John is interested in tax planning and saving for his children’s education. He needs some further information on the topics below:
He has several long- and short-term investments that he would like to sell to put his children through college, and he does not know the tax consequences associated with them if he sells.
He is considering taking a second mortgage or home equity loan on the house in order to increase funds available for his children’s tuition. He would like to understand the deductibility of the interest and any limitations that exist.
He is considering contributing to his IRA or converting to a Roth, but maybe he can wait a couple years before doing this as he believes there are severe tax consequences to this. He would also like to know about the income limitations to convert from an IRA to a Roth.
He asks about any credits that he could get for paying for his children’s tuition, room, and housing.
John is married and has a combined adjusted gross income of $135,000; he currently has a mortgage of $500,000.
Each group member will be assigned one topic from the following list and discuss this topic within the group:
    Investment sales
    Interest deduction
    IRA/Roth
    Educational tax credits
Each group member will explain the tax consequences associated with his or her topic and how it relates to John’s situation.
    Discuss examples within the group.
In your reply, discuss contrasting opportunities for other topics that you think would be better for John. Each member of the group must participate within the group discussion.
Each team member will turn in his or her own short paper (in assignment 6-2) detailing the tax planning for each topic.
