I typed some information to use in the essay to make the process much easier
1. Introduction
At the start of this semester, I considered myself an average writer. While I could get my ideas across, my writing often lacked structure and clarity. However, throughout this course, I’ve evolved significantly. I’ve learned the importance of planning my writing. Instead of diving in headfirst, I now take the time to outline my thoughts, which has greatly enhanced the organization and flow of my work. Additionally, my ability to craft compelling thesis statements has improved, providing a clearer direction for my essays and making my arguments more coherent and persuasive.
2. Improvement in Writing Skills
One of the most significant improvements in my writing is how I organize and present my ideas. For example, in my earlier drafts of the portfolio paper, my points were scattered and lacked cohesion: “In today’s world, technology is important because it makes things easier, like communication and learning.” After revising and applying what I learned, my final draft became more focused and impactful: “Technology’s role in modern society is crucial, as it revolutionizes communication and education, making information more accessible and interactions more efficient.” This transformation was a result of better planning and revising, which allowed me to align my writing more effectively with the assignment’s objectives.
3. Areas for Future Improvement
Despite the progress I’ve made, there are still areas I need to work on, particularly in citation and explaining points more thoroughly. For instance, in one of my essays, I wrote, “Renewable energy is beneficial for the environment.” This statement was too vague and lacked supporting details. Moving forward, I aim to provide more in-depth explanations and robust citations to strengthen my arguments, such as: “Renewable energy, by reducing carbon emissions and reliance on fossil fuels, offers a sustainable solution to environmental degradation, as evidenced by a 20% decrease in greenhouse gases in countries that have implemented these technologies (Smith, 2023).”
4. Conclusion
The writing skills I’ve honed in this class will be invaluable throughout my college career and professional life. Learning to plan, structure, and articulate my ideas effectively will aid in all my academic endeavors. Furthermore, as a flight attendant, these skills will enhance my ability to communicate clearly and professionally in various situations, from drafting incident reports to addressing passenger concerns. This course has laid a strong foundation that will support my growth both academically and in my aviation career. -
