    Instructions
Please take a moment to watch the videos below. These videos serve as a way to deeply think about what we are learning and apply these concepts to the course. After watching the videos, take a moment to reflect on what you learned and how it applies to this module.
Your post should be 300 words in length.
Cite sources you reference in-text and under a “References” section in APA format.

  • The Impact of Flashbulb Memories and Inaccurate Memories: A Reflection on a Recent Major Event

    One of
the most interesting and important types of memory we learned about in chapter
8 is the Flashbulb memory. The example that the authors use is the 9/11 attacks
on the World Trade center. Think about a more recent major event, from shocking
to amazing, that you know many people have experienced. For example, a NASA or
Space X shuttle launch, a school shooting, an earthquake, or Sunami.  Do
you remember where you were when you heard about this event? Who were you with
and what were you doing? What did you talk about?
    After jotting down a few
notes, contact someone who was with you when you learn about the
school shooting and ask them what they remember from that day. Are your
memories identical or different? Are the differences important details or not?
    Write about what you
learned about inaccurate and false memories from
this experience and use what you learned from the chapter 8 section on
Flashbulb memories and Inaccurate and False Memories.
    Your response must be a
short essay of at least 150 words. The “right” answer
is one that uses full and complete sentences, proper grammar, proper
punctuation, and content from the textbook to support your belief and
understanding of above question(s). Complete your response in Microsoft Word
and upload it to this dropbox using the Browse Local Files button below. Make
sure that you have saved the document as a Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx) file.
No other formatting may be accepted.

  • Title: Investigating the Effects of Social Media on Mental Health: A Research Proposal

For this assignment you will be writing a research proposal in which you will be asking a research question and a hypothesis for a research study on a subject of your choosing. Ideally, the research question will locate a gap or under-studied aspect of a subject you have chosen, perhaps following up with your annotated bibliography assignment, and propose a hypothetical research study in which you will investigate this subject further.
Be aware that research proposals often vary depending on what the audience is interested in seeing from the proposal. To highlight those differences, I shared the following documents only for that purpose:
Scholarly Article: How to Write a Research Proposal Download How to Write a Research Proposal[a detailed explanation for graduate level research proposals]
Website: San Jose State: Research ProposalsDownload Research Proposals
    Directions:
What we will write is a simplified APA-style research proposal that will have six identifiable sections, meaning you must include Level 2 headings to introduce each section:
    1. Introduction: here you will identify the need for study (why undertake this research), what the value of this research will be (significance of the study), and your research question. [Note: we are combining the traditional “introduction” and “rationale” together for simplicity.]
    2. Literature Review: here you will summarize the existing scholarly work (journal articles) that has been done on this topic, identifying how the authors have studied this topic and interesting places where the research overlaps or disagrees with one another.
    3. Methodology: here you will identify how you would hypothetically study the topic. Generalizing the study methods is fine–this is not a Research Methods course–but you should emphasize your objectives in this study (what kinds of information do you want to gather) and the practical details of how the study might be conducted.
    4. Discussion: here you will discuss any potential problems or limitations you may anticipate in the study. Ignore monetary concerns (assume you would be getting the grant money unless your study is enormous). Instead, focus on the practical issues that may arise from such a study and how you might address them.
    5. Conclusion: here you will hypothesize the short term and long term value of the study to researchers in this field. The conclusion about engaging persuasively with a professional audience to “sell” them on the idea of conducting this research for the benefit of other experts in the field of study.
    Requirements:
Word Count: A minimum of 2000 words.
A clearly articulated research question following the notes on what makes a “good” research question.
    Following the organizational format above.
A minimum of seven scholarly sources (more can be used for support in the Research Proposal).
APA formatting throughout, including a title page and sectional headings.

  • “Crafting Effective Subject Lines for Discussion Posts”

You are required to create a Subject Line for your discussion posts that conveys the main point of your message.
It is not enough to use just a “keyword” or “key phrase” as your subject – you must create a short sentence (a complete sentence with subject – verb – predicate, but no more than about 10 words) which summarizes the main question or response you are making in your message. This requirement is intended to accomplish 2 goals:
It requires that you think about and clearly state the main point of your message. To do this, you must have a clear understanding of the material, and this aids in learning and memory.
It provides the reader with advance information which is helpful in organizing and learning the content of the message. The reader should be able to determine the essence of your comment just by reading your Subject.

Discussion 2 Should all healthcare decisions be based on patient safety or legal and regulatory compliance? Why or why not?

Once you have written your response, edited and revised it, and submitted it, respond to at least ONE peer’s journal with your thoughts. 1. Theme in “Sweat”
The theme of a literary work is its central message or insight into life. Based on your reading of “Sweat,” what do you think is one of the main themes or lessons about human nature or society that Hurston is conveying through the characters and plot? Cite specific examples from the story to support your interpretation of the theme.
    2. Moral Dilemma in “The Ones Who Walk Away From Omelas” In “The Ones Who Walk Away From Omelas,” Le Guin presents readers with an imagined society and then explores the moral dilemma at its core. What do you think is the central theme or message Le Guin is expressing through this story about the nature of happiness, ethics, or the moral tradeoffs societies make? Explain your interpretation using details from the story as evidence.
    3. Contrast in “Sweat” or “Omelas”
Themes are often explored through contrasting characters, situations, or symbols within a story. Identify a symbolic element or contrasting aspect in either “Sweat” or “The Ones Who Walk Away From Omelas” that you believe reinforces the story’s main underlying message or theme. Analyze how this symbolic element/contrast helps develop and communicate the theme, using examples from the text.
Your posts will be graded according to the following criteria:
At least two well-developed paragraphs relevant to the prompt(s) (minimum 300 words).
A clear thesis, supported with one to two quotations from the literature.
