“Predicting the 2024 Election: Analyzing Key States and Strategies for Victory”
Who Will Win the 2024 Election
Answer all questions in your post and include your maps. Watch the instruction video I provided.
Go to 270 to win. Look at the historical presidential elections in the drop-down menu at the top labeled “President”. If you notice, Texas is possibly in play as a toss up state in 2024. Remember that Texas was a solidly Democratic state for almost 100 years before the political realignment in the 80s and 90s. Now, it’s a solid Red state since the 1990s (as other southern states), but its demographics are changing.
Once you play with the map, answer these questions:
Who has the advantage on election day and who has to make up the votes?
What toss-up states are key to winning the election?
What states are reliably Republican (red) and Democrat (blue)? You’ll have to look at the historical presidential Electoral College maps for that one. The tab is at the top of the page.
Which states have the most electoral votes?
Which toss-up states have the most electoral votes?
If you were the presidential campaign manager for Trump, where would you spend your campaign money to win over a state? Why? What states would you avoid because it would be a waste of money to go there? Why? Do the same for the Biden.
Based on all of this, who do you think will win the 2024 election? Joe Biden or the Republican candidate?
After you’re done with your map, you must save it and attach it to your post. See how to do that here. There should be no tan/toss-up states after you’re done with your map. Watch this short video to see how. I left my map with tan states because I don’t want to influence your decisions. -
“Social Media Addiction: Annotated Bibliography and Research Paper” Annotated Bibliography: Social Media Addiction Annotated Bibliography Fratz: English 102.## Student Name Date Social Media Addiction: Annotated Bibliography and “The Power of a Point: Examining its Significance and Role in Geometry and Beyond”
Part I: Annotated Bibliography
My topic is “Social Media Addiction”
Start with your research. Do not choose a thesis first. Do not choose a boring topic.
Gather and annotate 5 sources for your research paper. An annotated bibliography has the 4 parts.
Provide full bibliographic information, cited according to MLA standards
Summarize the text: What kind of document is this: is there an argument, or does it just report information? What is the main claim? What reasons support the argument? What kinds of evidence does it use? Analyze the quality of this source: Is it thoroughly researched? Does it provide enough evidence? Is it accessible? Does it have a bibliography? Is it persuasive? Is it biased? Does the author have an agenda that you can see? How up-to-date is the information? Is it a classic or standard text in the field?
Evaluate how you will use the source in your paper and why: Does it present new information? Does it challenge what you already know from the book review or another source? Does it expand on something from the book you reviewed?
Each annotation should be about 300-400 words. Some sources will require more summary or analysis. However, each part of the annotation must appear for each source. I want to see critical engagement with the text. Do not answer every question I pose above. It will read like a check list and I will not believe that you have done any thinking.
The quality of the sources must be high; most of your sources should come from chapters from respected books on the subject or high quality journalism (publications such as The Atlantic, National Geographic, The Economist, Rolling Stone, or another respected source), or scholarly journals.
NOT ALLOWED: TEXTBOOKS, DICTIONARIES, ENCYCLOPEDIAS, DOCUMENTARY FILMS AND VIDEOS, AND WIKIPEDIA.
You may annotate a single chapter from a book, but not one chapter after another of the same book. You need a variety of sources.
If the only place you can find the information you require is from a website there has to be a good reason for it.
Requirements
4-6 pages

Research Paper
Using the sources gathered and evaluated in the Annotated Bibliography, your paper shows how the sources relate to each other, and what reading them together does for your understanding of the subject. This paper is not a report; the thesis either comes to thoughtful synthesis of the sources, answering a research question (exploratory essay), or it develops an argument around a claim.
Pay attention to how the sources relate to each other, if one builds on the ideas of the other source, or one source contradicts the claims of the other. You are comparing sources, but the paper is not merely a comparison: you are showing the evolution of your thought on a specific subject through research.
You must have a specific, arguable thesis that is supported by the sources you choose.
The introduction reflects the writing instruction: it has a common ground, problem statement, transitions from the general to the specific, and includes an identifiable thesis and clear roadmap of the issues you will explore.
Each paragraph reflects the writing instruction: it states the claim for that paragraph, provides evidence for the claim, and context for the evidence. Present it concisely, cite it properly, and analyze it so that it clearly shows how it supports your reason. End each paragraph linking the central idea to the thesis.
The conclusion reflects the writing instruction: it uses one of the strategies outlined in that lesson. It is your last opportunity to convince your reader that you have a valid point.
Write clear, concise prose. Rely on your logic to persuade your reader.

“Tragic Heroes in Euripides: A Comparative Analysis of Medea and Hippolytus”
*Teacher comments -Okay this is a good start, but we’ve got to work on the framing idea most of all. Right now you’re not saying a lot about how the two plays are similar enough to justify the emphasis on their differences, so it comes off like a paper that’s just about how these two different things are different. The best way to start, I think, is going to be to emphasize their similarity as tragic heroes whose virtues are also responsible for their destruction. I’d try to look at general books on tragedy or general books on Euripides to find a good general discussion of Euripidean leading characters. Then maybe start your paper w/ a background para about the scholarship on specifically Euripidean tragic heroes (or if necessary, tragic heroes generally). Then go into individual paragraphs about each play and approach the contrasting paragraphs specifically in a way designed to highlight the differences that you notice because of those similarities above.

Case Study:
Saud works for a XYZ company as an administrative officer. He has been working there for more than fifteen years. He is considered one of the most experienced employees of the company. Saud is a graduate and has not upgraded himself in his tenure. His performance is satisfactory in the routine work but has shown no interest and active participation in changing the existing environment.
Hussain Alghassani is a Chairman of Company. He is a kindhearted person and always has a soft corner for his employees. He has not fired a single employee from the company on the basis of poor performance. He gives a good raise in salaries to those employees who perform well and keep upgrading themselves. Saud is a middle-aged person having three school going children. He is a bread earner of his family and the survival totally depends on his salary. Due to his below average performance his salary has not been raised since the last few years. Hussain knows very well about Saud and his family.
Tarique has recently joined as a Director, HR and Administration Department. He has got a vast experience in HR departments of different well reputed universities. The meeting of the board of directors is held regarding annual increment in the employees’ salaries. Evaluating each employee’s performance is one of the meeting agenda. The meeting is chaired by chairman, Hussain. When the discussion comes to Saud, the board gives suggestions not to raise his salary due to his poor performance throughout the year. Tarique is against the board and its suggestions. He says that not raising any employee’s salary for many years is unethical and cannot be justified. He supports Saud by saying that he has given more than fifty percent of his professional life and he deserves promotion as well as increment. Tarique suggests the chairman, Hussain to fire Saud or promote him. Tarique strongly believes that not raising salaries is a demotivating factor and has a negative effect on employee’s behavior and performance. Tarique suggests Hussain to love or leave him.
