  • “Compliance with Legal, Safety, and Regulatory Requirements in Human Resources: A Guide for Hiring Managers”

Human resources departments have evolved significantly over time, and state and federal governments are most responsible for how these departments function today. HR policies have always been highly influenced by the passage of new laws (e.g., HIPAA and the Affordable Care Act) and by regulatory policies and safety protections enforced by federal agencies (e.g., nondiscrimination, antiharassment, and retaliation policies under the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) and safety standards set by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA)).
    Scenario
One very important function required of a human resources business partner is to interpret and explain human resources policies, procedures, laws, standards, and regulations to other people in the organization. In this role, you need to communicate with hiring managers about how to remain compliant with legal, safety, and regulatory requirements. You have been tasked with writing a report to communicate and analyze the effect of legal, safety, and regulatory requirements on HR processes and their effect on personnel management.
    Preparation
Research and examine the effects of the following agencies and laws that impact legal, safety, and regulatory requirements in the field of human resources:
    U.S. Department of Labor (DOL)
U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC)
Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) of 1990
U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS)
Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA)
    Equal Pay Act
    Fair Labor Standards Act
Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA)
    Assessment Deliverable
Write a 700- to 1,050-word report to help guide hiring managers to adopt best practices in compliance with legal, safety, and regulatory requirements. Include the following in your report:
The effect of legal, safety, and regulatory requirements on the HR process
An analysis of employee-related regulations and agencies established by the United States, such as the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL), the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) of 1990, and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS)
Your opinion on the following statement: “Common sense and compassion in the workplace have been replaced by litigation.”
How a leader may use this information to better guide their own behavior and staff
    Cite at least 3 references.
Format your report according to APA guidelines.

  • Title: Enhancing Organizational Behavior at SECU: Lessons Learned and Recommendations for the CEO

SECU is a bank ran in only NC with currently 275 branches. Known for having a tag line of “people helping people”. SECU is known as the largest credit union in the state and the second largest in the country!
SECU started in 1937 and the CEO is Leigh Brady. Brady has a video on the website where she says she leads SECU after being an employee for about 36 years. She is looking to better the digital aspect of the company.
According to some employees on Glassdoor they give the company a 3.5 out of 5 stars. And on indeed some of the people are saying the company lacks communication between departments and provides the employees with low salary. It seems like employees like the company more for its benefits than what they provide. In my part of the company everyone complains about the hours and the team management skills.

    (2) three well-articulated lessons learned about organizational behavior at the organization

SECU does volunteer works and team bonding with the employees of the company focusing on fostering teamwork, communication, and collaboration among employees.

SECU is a diverse company and does not discriminate towards any of their employees or members creating an inclusive workplace where people from all backgrounds feel valued and respected.

    (4) the organization’s strengths and areas of possible risk in terms of MOB:
I think a big strength is the customer service the credit union provides to their members, giving the members multiple forms of receiving assistance whether it is the 24/7 phone calls, the app allowing you to communicate with employees or the branches all across the state. A possible risk the company can see is members going to other institutions because of their lack of language speaking though the company is very diverse there are some branches that do not have one person that speak a language beside english and I believe that is crucial.
    whenever
    (3) two to three OB concepts that best fit what you’ve learned about the organization and
address the rationale for choosing the concepts (cite sources):
    5) recommendations for the CEO:
Implement live chatting where members don’t have to wait for a response from the app. The
bank is a really understanding bank with the motto of “People Helping People” and me being
in the industry I see them helping people in ways other institutions dont.
