However, with so many foods now being packaged, it is also important to understand how to decipher the nutrient content of the packaged foods you are consuming. After consuming some healthy foods, the next step is for the human body to process those foods. We will review the process of digestion and the major organs involved. Understanding how the human body works will help you understand the importance of proper nutrition and making the best food choices to fuel your body. Objectives:Define the major food groups and organize foods into the appropriate groups. Readings
Pages 128–139 Hierarchy, Graphic Design The New Basics
Week 9 Learning Objectives
1. Describe the elements and principles of design in print and web examples.
2. Demonstrate the application of the elements and principles of design in various media.
3. Apply critical thinking to issues associated with graphic design when assessing solutions. Assignment 9.2: Weekly Image AssignmentAssignment 9.2: Weekly Image Assignment
Cut 12 6” x 6” squares out of white paper. You will use one each week and we want them all to match.
Using a black marker of your choice, create an image that represents SPACE.
Each week, create an image based on space that demonstrates the main topic from the reading. Think outside of the box, beyond the obvious visuals associated with the concept of “outer space.” Be sure to indicate, in pencil, which week the image was created in on the back. Please refrain from using type as your image. With each post, please include an explanation of your drawings. This will give you an opportunity to describe your work (we have to “sell” our ideas often), and it will provide us (your audience) some information so we can understand how you are applying the week’s topic and how “space” is being considered. This will also provide a check for you to make sure you are satisfying the assignment. This explanation can be a very short paragraph. I’m not wanting or looking for a short essay.
Post your weekly image each week to the appropriate discussion board. Comments are not required for this assignment but are encouraged.
At the end of the term, compile an image of all 12 solutions in order and post it to the discussion board (12.3).
This assignment is worth 150 total points. Each image is worth 10; the final collection image is worth 30. -

“Exploring Accountability and Transparency in the Healthcare System: A Qualitative Study”
For this “mock qualitative research” assignment, you will respond to one of the three questions below. But first, you will need to listen to Unaccountable: What Hospitals Won’t Tell You, which is an excerpt from the Diane Rehm Show that will serve as our “pretend” qualitative data. (The audio file is in Module 13 on Blackboard.) As you listen to the transcript, brainstorm different ideas about potential codes, themes, research questions (things you would want to know if you were initiating a study on this topic), and key informants (people you would want to interview).
Please access the transcripts (and audio files directly) by going to Weekly Module 13 and clicking on the link: “Diane Rehm Show Audio Files and Transcripts (audio for Discussion #5) to access all the files for this discussion.
Questions (choose one to answer): and display question bolded
Please share some of the “codes” you identified while listening to the transcript. If you identified any larger overarching “themes,” share those, too.
What are some of the research questions that you came away with after listening to this excerpt? What do you want to know?
To answer the questions you’re interested in, who would you study? Who would be your “key informants”? Why? What do you hope they can tell you?
Student Responses :
Sofia Contreras 3. To answer the questions you’re interested in, who would you study? Who would be your “key informants”? Why? What do you hope they can tell you? To answer the questions I came up with, I would interview those who are closely involved in the healthcare system and have a first-hand understanding of its problems and inner workings. This would include frontline medical professionals like doctors and nurses who can share firsthand knowledge of medical practices and systemic failings, hospital administrators who are aware of the operational and financial pressures facing healthcare facilities, and patients who have encountered medical errors who can share personal accounts that illustrate the human impact of these systemic issues. Healthcare policy experts can also offer insights into systemic barriers and necessary policy changes. By talking with these informants, we can better understand the underlying causes of healthcare issues and what we can do to promote more accountability and openness.
Amanda Harrison 2. After listening to the first audio which was called identifying and treating severe mental illness, I was very interested in hearing about the speakers son who was diagnosed with bipolar disorder also known as manic depression. My first research question that I had after listening to the audio was what happens when healthcare providers don’t give treatment to someone who needs it, even if they’re not showing obvious symptoms like the speaker’s son? Another question I also had is why do authorities and healthcare providers wait until the patient becomes harmful to themselves or to their environment before any action is taken, is there a way to mitigate these issues before anyone faces any harm. My final research question is what should parents of patients with bipolar disorder do if they notice that their child is experiencing the symptoms. I’m curious about how families can help their loved ones with mental health issues right from the start, before things escalate. It seems like there should be ways to support them earlier on, instead of waiting until things get out of control to the point where the authorites are needed as mentioned in the audio. This makes me think about the importance of early intervention in mental health care, especially for families dealing with these challenges. -
“Gang Profile: The Notorious [Gang Name] and Their Involvement in Drug-Related Crimes”
For the most part, Criminal Gangs and Drug-Related Crimes go hand in hand. One cannot investigate one without investigating the other. There is a lot of resources to review and videos to watch in the Module that will help you understand the main gang threats in the US. The objective of this assignment is to explore the relationship between drug-related crimes and gangs.
Your task for this assignment is to create a gang profile of a notorious gang of your choice. Select a Street Gang, Prison Gang, or Outlaw Motorcycle Gang that you would like to study. To help you get started, here is a recent list of the existing gangs in Massachusetts Gangs in MassachusettsLinks to an external site. . (Your selection is not limited to Massachusetts, so feel free to pick another gang that operates within the United States.) Once you have selected your gang, quickly review and then define what constitutes drug-related crimes.
Now for this assignment, I want you develop a gang profile similar to this one: Gangster Disciples. Do a full work-up of your gang (like an investigator would do). Create a table of organization ( Smart Art in Word, Google Docs, or even PowerPoint if you wish). Find and document pictures of their logos, symbols, patches, and other identifiers. Gather information about their illegal and legal (partially legal) businesses and explain their criminal activities with a particular focus on drug distribution, manufacturing, and trafficking. Discuss their suspected law enforcement and criminal connections. Make a list of supporters outside the gang and compile a list of crimes that your gang is or has an alleged involvement in. Conduct another search of any recent cases for which your gang has been charged in or found guilty of in the past 3 years. Identify their primary source of income.
This is a big project so plan accordingly. Be creative and thorough. There is a lot of available information out there, so read and research.
When you think that you have a full understanding of your gang’s organizational network, put it all together in a formal report. Include a title page and reference page with your profile and upload into Canvas.
