Prompt: Answer each of the following three questions.
Describe the intellectual context of egalitarian thought prior to the Industrial Revolution. Explain how, according to Anderson, the intellectual context was transformed in light of the Industrial Revolution.
Anderson thinks that most US workers are subject to private government and workplace tyranny. Explain her argument.
Suppose that the workplace is a form of government, in Anderson’s usage of “government”. Now, consider the following argument: “Democracy is the best type of government, and people should be ruled by the best type of government. Thus, workers should be entitled to a (public) democratic workplace, since the workplace is a government.” Do you agree with the reasoning of this argument? If so, explain why. If not, explain why.
Instructions: You may format the paper as you like. For instance, if you would like to include an introduction/conclusion, you may; if you would like to simply pose the three questions and give your answers, that is permitted as well. I suspect that you will need approximately a page to adequately answer each question. So, I suspect you will need around three pages to adequately answer the full prompt. You do not need to include in-text citations or a bibliography, unless you rely on material from outside the course.

Title: Analyzing the Results Sections of Two Professional, Peer-Reviewed Articles on Descriptive and Inferential Statistics
Write a 2250-2500 word essay addressing the following points/questions. Be sure to answer all the questions for each bullet point completely. Separate each section in your paper with a clear heading that allows your professor to know which bullet you are addressing in that section of your paper. Support your ideas with at least three (3) sources in your essay. Make sure to reference the citations using the APA writing style for the essay. The cover and reference pages do not count toward the minimum word amount. Review the rubric criteria for this assignment.
Locate two new academic articles from a professional, peer-reviewed journal related to a topic of your interest. These articles should involve descriptive or inferential statistics, should be two NEW articles (i.e., not articles you used previously in this course), and should be at least ten pages long. Be sure to answer all questions entirely in each bullet point. There should be six sections per article response, addressing each numerical bullet below.
Summarize both professional, peer-reviewed articles by addressing the following for each study. Repeat this sequence for each article.
What question/hypothesis was the researcher trying to answer or investigate?
What were the results?
How did the researcher present the results? What are the strengths and weaknesses in how the results were presented?
How was graphical formatting (tables, figures, graphs, etc.) used to present the results?
Explain how the researcher connected the results to an evaluation of the hypotheses. Provide direct examples from the study.
Identify at least one area in the data where the results could have been interpreted differently. Explain your alternative interpretation.
Compare and contrast both studies and explain the similarities and differences concerning the Results sections of the articles. For this assignment, focus more on the structure and components of the Results sections, not the actual results. That is, how crafty were the researchers in presenting their findings in a way that conveys clarity and importance of the results from the study. -
“Exploring the Evidence: A Literature Review on Interventions to Improve Pediatric Health Outcomes”
A 7-8 page
literature review with primary sources only, recent sources no older than 10
years, and an included introduction page that describes the literature search
that was used. The literature search will follow the below outline and will
coordinate with the included paper that I have already started.
Outline:
From the literature
review you understand how the authors/researchers performed their
methods in order for
you to adopt/borrow them for your proposed project. It is essential
your literature
review supports your PICO from your introduction.
The literature
search was properly conducted to identify appropriate primary sources which
will be reviewed and discussed and synthesized to show the evidence to support
the intervention in
the PICO does indeed
help to improve/decrease the intended
outcome.
As you read your
selected primary sources (quantitative or qualitative studies), NOT literature
reviews, systematic reviews or meta-analyses, take note of:
1. Recurring themes
throughout the literature. Are there studies that use the same
methodology, use the
same tool to measure the outcome?
2. Similarities and
differences? Take note of the similarities and differences of the studies
3. How does each
author support their position?
4. How is the
outcome measured?
5. What are the
study conclusions?
6. Note limitations
and strengths.
7. Note how the
studies’ results varied from each other.
Write down your key
insights and how each source you selected contributes to the existing pool
of knowledge on its
subject. Explore how the sources challenge and contradict each other and
where they agree or
expand upon each other.
The following is an
outline to follow when it time to draft up the literature review.
Theme #1
Paragraph 1-2 –
discuss the similarities and differences of the studies that share theme
#1, synthesize the
information: populations, findings, methods conclusions based on theme.
Paragraph 2-3
authors conclusions- are they the same, different, what are their
concluding thoughts?
Is there any conflicting evidence?
Paragraph 4 – Bring
in your concluding thoughts, questions, and opinions. What could
make the study
better?
Theme #2
Follow the outline
as above.
Theme #3
Follow the outline
as above.
Limitations and
Strengths
Synthesize the
limitations and strengths of the studies. A paragraph or two of limitations
and a paragraph or
two of strengths.
Gaps in Literature
Identify the gaps in
literature. Gaps in literature are areas that are
missing. For
example,
studies are lacking
in understanding how the intervention can be used in the pediatric
population. Or there
is a lack of uniform/universal definition of topic of interest. Another
example is there is
a lack of screening tool or an identified reliable and valid tool to measure
the outcome.
Conclusion
The final concluding
paragraph of the literature review/ capstone paper is the
summation of the
entire capstone project- summing up the problem, why the intervention is
superior to current
standard of care, the theory and how it offers a framework and a grounding
to the project and
the literature review that supports the evidence for the intervention and
intended outcome in
the PICO, hopefully the evidence is indeed supportive.

Title: Investigating the Relationship Between Preferred Media Types and Generation
Introduction: In these instructions, we will use the example above (“Favorite Ice Cream Flavors and Gender Preferences”) as an example of a project to perform for this class. Please choose a different question to ask for your project, and use this as a guide for what your project will look like. Be sure that whatever question you ask, it represents a comparison of two different categories. For example, the question “Is there a predictive relationship between car type and gender?” would relate categories of car types (sedan, SUV, pickup trucks, hatchback, etc.) to gender (M, F, etc.).
Another example would be, “Does someone’s preferred media type change depending on generation?” This would relate media types like television, books, online text, online video, social media feeds, etc., to someone’s generation (Baby Boomer, Gen X, Millenial, Gen Z, etc.).
In the Ice Cream and Gender Preferences sample project below (your project must be different, but you can use this project as a model), we will investigate whether there is a significant association between people’s favorite ice cream flavors and their gender.
We will use the chi-square test for independence to analyze the data you collect and draw conclusions based on your findings. This project will help you understand how to perform and use hypothesis testing in the real world.
Materials Needed:
Data collection sheet (you can use any format that works for you).
Pens/pencils for data collection.
Computer or calculator.
Data Collection:
Formulate a plan to collect data from a sample of individuals. You can approach friends, family members, classmates, or any group of people willing to participate in your survey. (Note: this is a convenience sample, which does not generally yield valid results. You may put in more effort toward creating a better sample design, but please be mindful of the time we have left in the class.)
Create a data collection sheet with two columns: one for favorite ice cream flavors and one for gender. Include at least five different ice cream flavors and categories for male, female, and non-binary genders (if you choose).
Aim to gather data from at least 25 participants to ensure an adequate sample size for the chi-square test.
Data Entry:
Use your data collection sheet to organize your data into a contingency table with rows for each ice cream flavor and columns for male and female respondents.
Count the number of individuals who prefer each ice cream flavor for each gender and fill in the corresponding cells in the contingency table.
Submit a photo of this sheet for credit. Be sure to hold on to this sheet, since you will use it in future assignments. -
