Correlations are most often used when the variables are continuous. This week, we are learning how categorical variables can be incorporated in correlational analyses. Please reply to one of the following in your discussion post:
Share and discuss an outside resource such as a link to a video, website, or scholarly article that discusses the use of categorical predictor variables in multiple regression analysis. Why did you pick this to share?
Identify a research question from your professional life or research interests that could be addressed with dummy predictor variables in multiple regression. Explain how you would dummy code your predictor variable.
If your friend was designing a study for their dissertation and said they wanted to include a categorical variable as a predictor variable, what advice would you give them?

Write a 5 paragraph essay answering the question “What would be the most effective and realistic changes you could make to improve your sleep?” 
Begin by doing some preliminary online research on effective ways of improving your sleep. You should come up with at least 4 ways you could improve (3 will be your sub-claims and 1 will be your counter-claim), and have 2 pieces of evidence that support each of the 3 sub-claims and 1 piece for your counter-claim (these should be fact based ie. patients who slept with toe warmers decreased the number of times they woke up at night by 3,000%). Next you should begin working on your introductory paragraph by giving backstory regarding your current sleeping habits as shown by your Sleep Log ( I atteched the file of my sleep log so you can see), defining sleep, and explaining the importance of getting good sleep. End your introductory paragraph by writing a thesis using the 4 ways you could improve that you already identified. Each of the 3 body paragraphs should begin with a topic sentence and include 2 pieces of evidence supporting that method of improvement, as well as an explanation of why each piece of evidence supports the use of that method of improvement. End your essay with a conclusion that summarizes your essay in approximately 3 sentences.

Gender Differences in Personality
This week, your discussion assignment is about male and female differences in personality. What male and female differences in personality have you observed and where do you think they come from (e.g., are they learned, inborn, etc.)? NOTE: If you believe more than one personality theory explains male/female differences, give concrete examples. Link the theory you choose solidly to the personality differences you describe to provide evidence of your thorough comprehension of your selected theory by your accurate application of it rather than just picking a theory by name and listing characteristics believed by the general public to differ between genders. You must describe how the theory you choose explains specific differences.

Identify a social problem related to inequality (race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, mental illness, income, etc.).

Audio: Provide a detailed explanation of the social problem you have chosen and explain why you have chosen this particular social problem.

Identify three influences that contribute to the emergence of this social problem.
