Principles of Psychology
Virtual (and augmented) reality have a number of purposes and uses for recreation such as gaming,
education such as workplace training, and even health care such as exposure therapy for certain types
of anxiety disorders or PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder). You will learn more about all of this
throughout the course.
For this assignment, consider how virtual (and augmented) reality relate to the basic principles of
psychology. If you have an undergraduate intro to psychology textbook, typically any book can help.
Look through the table of contents at the different content areas indicated (most intro books have
nearly identical sections). Pick three topics, concepts, or theories from anywhere in the introductory
material and talk about the connection between the basic principle and what your understanding of
Virtuality is all about from the readings (and Discussion 1) for the week.
If you do not have a textbook, you can access any number of open educational resources (OER) here

Submission Instructions:
Submit your assignment as a Word document of no more than two (2) pages of content (not including
your references page). All papers should be prepared according to APA Style 7 (Student paper format).

2. Compare the different formats for these readings (official chronicles from government, military, and trading officials, personal accounts & letters, laws, and enslaved peoples’ accounts). How do they differ in their viewpoints?
3. What are the essential differences or similarities between the European-Indigenous encounter we’ve been studying so far and the European-African encounter we’ve looked at this week?
Your case study for this module includes first-hand accounts of people involved in the slave trade in the sixteenth, seventeenth (and sometimes early eighteenth) centuries. These collections include authors from a variety of countries and discuss slavery in North America from multiple perspectives. Choose the sources that best fit your topic above.

How to approach this paper
1. Read through the assignment below, and the Grading Criteria for Papers prior to beginning this assignment.
2. Identify the central question of the case study.
KEY TO A GOOD GRADE: 3. Use quotes and descriptions of primary sources (from this course) to answer the central question.
4. Make sure your paper is well organized. It should have an introduction that addresses the central question. It should have organized paragraphs that address each central issue in turn and uses the primary sources as evidence. And it should have a conclusion.
5. Don’t summarize the primary sources paragraph by paragraph, but use topic sentences and then primary sources to answer the question and make an argument about the past.
6. Quote length: Use only 2-3 line quotes and MINIMIZE the quotes you add from secondary sources. Paraphrase longer quotes while editing.
7. NO secondary sources from outside of class. -
“Grasping the Interactional Framework for Educational Leadership: Lessons from Drew Dudley’s Everyday Leadership”
One take-a-way from this course is to grasp concepts that are integral to the Interactional Framework for Analyzing Educational Leadership. This leadership environment is the interaction between four key elements:
the leader
the follower
the mission (task, goal, etc.)
interacting in a given (situation (contextual environment).
The cross-section of these four elements is where leaders tend to either succeed or fail. The balancing act of these elements is not easy; it is filled with hurdles. Nevertheless, this framework offers a lens through which to view leadership and the leadership developmental process.
An additional resource (e.g., video) is provides below (see link) to provide an example of how daily interactions with the world around us give us opportunities to help change lives. Click on the link below and view Drew Dudley’s story about “Everyday Leadership.”

Title: Critique and Analysis of Research Articles on [Topic]
A summary of the research question(s), methodology, and main findings of each article discussed. This should be no more than a few sentences to show that you understood the article. The main body of the paper should be devoted to:
A critique of the article(s)
Was the methodology appropriate? What, if any, were their flaws?
Were the conclusions appropriate given the results?
How can the study be improved? What was good about the article?
It is very easy to tear apart an article. Find and discuss at least one strength (e.g., strong methodology, interesting/unexplored research question), or discuss why there are no strengths.
Include one discussion question based on the article(s). These should be open-ended (i.e., not answerable by a yes/no) and foster class discussion.
Response papers should reflect a critical analysis of the assigned material, transcending the “I feel…” syndrome. -

Title: Correlation and Simple Linear Regression Analysis of Father-Son Heights
This task is correlation analysis and simple linear regression analysis, please provide answer with excel output.
150 pairs of father-son heights (in inches) are given in Spreadsheet “Task 7”. The data are rounded to the nearest 0.1 inch.
Question 1 Perform a correlation analysis on the data. Test, at a 5% level of
significance, whether there is a linear relationship between the father’s height (X) and the son’s height (Y). If the test is significant, perform a further test on whether Corr(X,Y) is significantly greater than 0.36 at the 5% and 1% levels of significance, respectively.
Question 2 Perform a simple linear regression analysis on the data. Find the estimated
regression equation and the predicted value and a 95% prediction interval for the son’s height if his father is 65 inches tall. Without performing further statistical analysis, describe how you may improve the regression analysis. -
