Overview
In
the Week 3 assignment, you completed the preliminary work needed for your
assessment plan that included background information that provides a glimpse of
what the assessment plan is about.
For
this assignment, you will use your Problem-Solving skills
as you explore ideas to incorporate that information into a plan for a single
unit or course that will contain lessons for seven weeks. It is going to be
more detailed as you need to describe the multiple activities that students
will be doing in your classroom.
You will describe the specific content, concepts, procedures,
terminology, and thinking skills your students will learn and use. You will
also describe your teaching activities and your students’ learning activities.
You’ll identify the learning objectives and student learning targets for the
lessons, including the specific formative and summative assessments you will
use, and when you will use them.
Instructions
Create a (3-4) page
assessment plan. Note: Use content from the Week 3
assignment, Assessment Plan – Part 1: Preliminary Steps for Selecting
an Assessment, incorporating any instructor feedback that you received, and
expanding on the details as needed.

The purpose of this assessment is to describe what research methods (quantitative/qualitative) will be used to gather information for your Capstone evaluation project. Topic-Does the McNAir High School mentorship program implemented as intended? (process evaluation)
Evaluation questions-. What are the specific discrepancies between the intended implementation of the mentorship program and its actual execution at McNair High School?
2. How do the feelings of scrutiny among mentees and the sense of overload among mentors impact the overall effectiveness of the mentorship program? 3. What strategies or recommendations can be implemented to address the misalignment and improve the mentorship program’s efficiency and sustainability?
Background- The mentorship program is currently facing challenges regarding several key issues in supporting new teachers and managing the workload of experienced mentors. The induction phase for new educators is filled with tasks, including adapting to school cultures, managing classrooms effectively, and aligning instruction with district and state standards. The program’s heavy reliance on formal observations has led to mentors feeling overwhelmed by their duties and mentees feeling scrutinized, which can detract from the intended supportive nature of the program. This problem is further intensified by the variety of mentoring approaches that focus on balancing the enhancement of teaching practices with the deepening of conceptual understanding (Carmi, 2024). Furthermore, there is a need for a mentorship model that emphasizes real-time support and feedback rather than periodic observation check-ins. Shifting towards a mentorship model that emphasizes immediate support could improve effectiveness by aligning better with everyday teaching needs (Hughes, 2022). The mentorship program’s challenges encompass the need to overhaul its approach to focus on immediate support and feedback, addressing issues of workload management, and maintaining a supportive environment for both new teachers and experienced mentors. Despite a well-intentioned mentorship program aimed at onboarding and supporting new teachers, a significant gap exists in the practical implementation of the plan.
Introduction
