Research question: How does the racial experience of Black students at PWIs impact their educational and personal well-being, and what can be done to improve their experiences and outcomes?
My proposed topic is “How does the racial experience of Black students at PWIs impact their educational and personal well-being, and what can be done to improve their experiences?” This topic holds significance for me, as my journey as a Black hijabi at a PWI exposed me to experience things I’ve never really experienced before such as feeling isolated and feeling a lack of community. This is something new to me since coming from a diverse educational background I’ve never experienced these issues before. What excites me about this topic is the opportunity to share my personal experiences with educators, faculty and peers, allowing there to be a welcoming space for everyone Some questions I have regarding my topic that could help with further research are, How do Black students at HBCUs compare to those that attend PWIs, and are there any educational and personal differences? Does faculty play a significant role in shaping the racial experience of Black students at PWIs, and how can they support them and their needs? How does racial experience at PWIs impact one’s mental health and overall well-being, and can this relate to not having a sense of belonging?

  • Title: Connecting Our Future in Addressing Environmental Crime: Reflections on Professional Paths and Institutions

Hello once again, dear Students! Welcome to our last forum; Forum 10! In our last modules we have seen different approaches that intend to address environmental crimes: general prevention strategies in Module 11; formal criminal justice system preventive agencies in Module 12; the work of lawyers, courts in general and environmental courts in particular, in Module 13; criminal justice responses (punitive and restorative) and agencies, in Module 14.
We now complement these readings with our final course videos: types of institutions and their work towards addressing problems, in Course video 10; characteristics of our 21st century, in Course video 11; the academy and the labor market, in Course video 12.
Given all of these materials and the fact that our course is close to ending, now is a good instance to think about environmental crime and about ourselves within this “ecosystem of activities”. Hence, in this last Forum you have address the following:
    Assignment 01: Your own thread.
Connecting our last topics and thinking about our future.
Consider all of what was said above, our material and all guidelines to properly do this assignment.
In a first (01) paragraph, briefly say what you see yourself doing in the future as a professional in our field. Ideally, say the name of the position you would like to have; some tasks and/or responsibilities; and the institution(s) or type of institution(s) you would take part in. Be as specific as you can: it is ok if you do not know these things for sure, or if you are considering different options. In any case, supporting your words with sources (Course videos and/or readings) strengthens your work here. See guidelines at the end to do this properly.
In a second (01) paragraph, mention one (01) or two (02) specific aspect(s) in which this course has impacted your view on such professional future. This can be the learning of facts you did not know; the use of theories; specific reading(s) and/or author(s); a specific challenge our criminal justice systems may have to address environmental crime; amongst other options. Here again supporting your words with sources (Course videos and/or readings) strengthens your work here. See guidelines at the end to do this properly.
If needed to avoid excessively long paragraphs (i.e. those over 150 words), you can use a third (01) paragraph to provide a conclusion; closing comments; doubts; contributions to our field and/or salutations.
Guidelines: 1) Overall length should be 250-400 words. 2) Organize the answer into two (02) or three (03) paragraphs. 3) Cite at least two (02) pieces of material, including one (01) reading and one (01) Course video.
Assignment 02. Your answer to a peer:
Choose one (01) peer that chose a type of work and/or an institution to work at that is/are different from your choice(s).
In a first (01) paragraph, salute the person and provide one (01) or two (02) brief comments about the person’s global production.
In a second (01) paragraph, provide specific comments about how you think the peer’s chosen professional path may related to your professional path. Specifically, provide comments about how these two (02) paths may complement each other; and how the institution(s) could coordinate efforts to address the pressing issue of environmental crime. Once again here, supporting your words with proper use of sources (Course videos and/or readings) to strengthen your work.
If needed to avoid excessively long paragraphs (i.e. those over 150 words), you can use a third (01) paragraph to provide a conclusion; closing comments; and/or salutations.
Guidelines: 1) Overall length should be 240-360 words. 2) Organize the answer into two (02) or three (03) paragraphs.

    • etc.
Use information from two research sources to write two body paragraphs of 8-12 sentences (in MLA format) for the research essay topic you chose.
Begin by introducing the main idea (or topic sentence) of the paragraph.
Before quoting two quotes from each source, introduce the author(s) and the title of his/her/their work.
Note: after introducing him/her/them for the first time, simply refer to the author(s) by surname only (i.e., last name).
In each paragraph, quote and analyze TWO PASSAGES. Be sure to follow the rules of MLA format.

  • Title: Navigating Organizational Power: Finding the Easiest Source to Work With as an Employee In my opinion, the easiest source of organizational power to deal with as an employee is referent power. Referent power is based on

Power and politics in organizations are common. In most cases, each concept is necessary and executed with skill and precision. Unfortunately, power can lead to conformity from those around us, and this occurring conformity can breed corruption. The amount of power you have has strong ties to how much others depend on you. If you are deemed a valuable resource within an organization, then you can wield that dependability to make demands and get others to do what you want. Besides having an innate or acquired control over resources, there are several social aspects of power to draw on.
Methods for obtaining more power in an organization can often led to political behaviors. As one person seeks to influence another to support an idea, politics begins to play out. Though necessary in some instances, many people that follow the rules see the politics of an organization as resulting in an unfair distribution of resources. Still others, despite understanding the politics of a given organization, see it as an unnecessary time consumer.
Politics, influence, and power can often reside within your social network. When an individual is core to a social structure, they will often have some degree of control over others. Social networks can also help you acquire jobs, make beneficial connections, and generally make life easier. It is often a good idea to analyze your social network and determine if it needs to be strengthened or tailored.
To answer the questions below you may need to do some research on Power, Influence and Politics. However, on the other hand you may not if you were paying attention to the recent election campaign and its outcome. Take a close look at the organized political demonstrations in the various US states. There is an obvious source of power and influence behind this movement. In some sense it’s no different from how Corporate America sometimes behaves and dissatisfied employees react and strike back. Assignment Question:
In 4 paragraphs answer the following question below.
    1. In your opinion, which of the five sources of organizational power – legitimate, reward, expert, referent, or information – is the easiest to deal/work with as an employee? Explain it
