In this assignment I am asking you to identify a social/ethical issue that is important to you. It can be an issue you are personally passionate about and/or one related to your academic studies (e.g. public health, mass incarceration, hunger and poverty, reproductive rights, lgbtq rights, etc.) and then identify organizations that are addressing the issue and challenges on a local (or regional), national, and international level. The goal is to see the various attempts and strategies that others have actively engaged in an effort address an issue you care about. Each organization can approach the issue differently, which may in fact be required given the focus and size of each. The organizations you choose can be non-profit, non-governmental, religiously affiliated, government affiliated, or private charitable/philanthropic organizations–any type as long as their mission and goal is to address the issue(s) you care about. In total, your response should be approximately 3 pages (double-spaced, 10-12pt font, etc).
Your response should include the following:
1. Discuss the social issue and why you chose it. Why do you feel the issue is important? What are some of the biggest challenges or reasons related to the issue? Is there a particular dimension of the larger issue that you are particularly interested in? For example, if you chose mass incarceration, you may be most interested in mandatory minimums or drug laws. How hopeful are you that the efforts of the organizations you discuss can make a real impact?
2. For each level (local, national and international) provide a link to the organization and explain why you chose it? What is their strategy and focus for addressing the issue? That is, what is their mission and how do they go about fulfilling this mission? Do their stated goals appear realistic to you? Finally, are there ways for people to become actively involved with and support the organization aside from donations?
3. Finally, please offer a brief reflection on the process of reviewing and selecting the organizations you did. What is something you learned about the social issue and and strategies for addressing them? Have you been actively involved previously in some form of community service? Do you see yourself being involved in the future? Did reviewing these organizations inspire you any way? Please briefly explain.
Hello the social issue i chose is abortion rights -Abortion rights are crucial for women’s health, autonomy, and reproductive freedom. I chose this issue because access to safe and legal abortion services is fundamental for gender equality and bodily autonomy. Challenges include legal restrictions, stigma, and limited access to services, which disproportionately affect marginalized communities. I am particularly interested in advocacy for reproductive justice and the right to make informed choices about one’s body and future. I am hopeful that organizations’ efforts can protect and expand abortion rights.
As a woman, researching and selecting organizations addressing abortion rights reaffirmed the importance of advocating for reproductive justice and gender equality. It highlighted the critical role that women play in shaping policies and initiatives that affect their reproductive health and rights. Engaging with these organizations not only inspired me to continue supporting abortion rights advocacy but also reinforced my commitment to ensuring that women’s voices are hea
