Title: Incorporating Group Therapy Techniques for Anxiety Disorders in a Diverse Practice Setting

As a PMHNP in an outpatient group psychiatric practice you have identified individuals with anxiety disorders to participate in group psychotherapy. You have researched interventions for anxiety disorders and know that “identification and confrontation of interpersonal and relationship conflicts through self-disclosure and feedback; learning to deal with factors contributing to high levels of stress, opportunity for growth through group support and realistic self-appraisal and peer pressure” (Wadell and Demi, 1993) are components of group therapy to be considered.
What are a few of the techniques from this therapy that you would want to incorporate into your counseling practice? What do you see as the major shortcoming of this therapy from a diversity perspective?
