Main Instruction: In Unit 3 you chose the chronic disease you wish to research further, and wrote a rough draft of your introductory paragraph. People all over the world are
affected by hypertension, also known as high blood pressure. This happens when
the force of blood against artery walls is consistently too high, putting
stress on the heart. It’s also called the “silent killer” since it
doesn’t usually cause or show symptoms in the beginning. Leaving it untreated
can lead to heart disease, strokes, and kidney problems. Bad diet, obesity, and a sedentary lifestyle have been linked to the causes of hypertension. In some
cases, prescription medication may be needed to treat hypertension. Lifestyle
changes which include a healthy diet, regular exercise, reduction of stress,
and stress management may also help to manage it. It’s important to know about
high blood pressure, how it affects our health, and be careful in our lifestyle
to prevent or handle it to stay healthy.
