For this week’s dialogue, please respond to the prompt stated below. A grading rubric for this assignment can be found in the “Grades and Progress” section of the main menu. Locate the assignment and click on “View Rubric.”
Select ONE of the articles below from DPL’s Dictionary of Paul’s Letters:
“Food Offered to Idols and Jewish Food Laws”
“Judaizers” (or “Opponents of Paul”)
“Law” (or “Law of Christ”)
“Man of Lawlessness”
“Prophecy, Prophesying” (or “Preaching, Kerygma”)
And select ONE of the prompt questions below:
What is the specific issue in the Galatian churches and how is this similar to Paul’s experience in Jerusalem and Antioch (include a brief discussion of the answer to the problem)?
What do the Thessalonian letters contribute to our understanding of “sanctification” (focus on Paul’s meaning to his readers)?
Discuss the “secret” of Paul’s Christology (see chapter 3 of PTC) and include an explanation of the two streams of expectation that influenced Paul.
(1) Select and read ONE of the assigned articles above from DPL’s Dictionary of Paul and His Letters. In two developed paragraphs (minimum of 250 words), present to the class the key truths and principles that you believe are most interesting or most helpful for the class to learn from the article that you read (so that we can learn collectively). At the end of these paragraphs, cite the article as a bibliographic entry (“article/chapter in an edited book”). No need for footnotes or references in this section.
(2) Choose and answer ONE of the prompt questions above based on your reading (cite your textbook or outside sources). Write at least two developed, cohesive paragraphs and incorporate specific detail, 3rd person, and support (minimum 250 words). Cite your source(s) each time they are used. Include at least three scholarly sources (textbooks and/or outside scholarly sources).
For Replies, respond to two other students’ posts (100 words minimum each). EITHER read over the article the student wrote about and add insight or information which would help the class learn more specifically about the subject, OR respond to the student’s answer to the prompt question he or she selected (students do not have to agree with each other; avoid posts that only praise the author). Aim to add substantively to the discussion.
please be sure to use the DPL citation when it is required other than that Turabian citation.
