Please write a three to four page paper (roughly six to seven paragraphs) using one of the following fictional characters:  Killmonger (Black Panther), Harry Potter, Wanda Maximoff (Wanda Vison), Jason Bourne (Bourne Trilogy), Nullah (from the movie Australia 2008), Sarah Conner (Terminator), Ripley (Aliens), Katniss Everdeen (The Hunger Games), any of the characters from the television show Reservation Dogs, Abuela Alma (Encanto), or Celie (The Color Purple).  If you have another character you would like to base your paper on please send me an email (so I can familiarize myself with the character beforehand.)
The paper should include one to two paragraphs describing what type of trauma this individual experienced (i.e., community violence, historical trauma, generational trauma, childhood abuse, war, etc.), what symptoms of trauma you see that this character is experiencing.  The symptoms should be specifically described, (ex:  cognitive distortions, flashbacks, nightmares, difficulty regulating emotions, etc.)  Include specific examples from the films supporting your conclusions.
Secondly, imagine this individual accessing support at a community behavioral health agency where you work. Incorporating the components of each of the six concepts of Trauma-Informed Care, how would you engage in providing services to this individual.  Provide specific examples of the concepts and how you would apply them. For example when discussing the concept of safety, including how to ensure physical and psychological safety.  These concepts should be tailored to the specific character you choose to write about, these needs may be different for different individuals and their specific trauma history.  Aim to write one paragraph per each of the six Trauma-Informed Care Concepts.
