DISCUSSION TOPIC.
There are different types of research studies (for example, empirical, case studies, reviews, etc.). Compare and contrast two different types of research studies. In which situations would one be more suitable over another? How do investigators decide which type of research to pursue?

Understanding and having a deep knowledge about the types of research can help the researchers to better plan the project by utilizing the most appropriate methodologies and techniques.” (Types of Research, n.d.) When conducting research many different types of research can be processed, but there are basic categories that research can be classified as quantitative research and qualitative research. Quantitative research is the type of research that can be measured, the main factor of the research is the investigation of numerical data, while qualitative research is the type of research that cannot be measured it looks for findings in difficult areas observing the data that cannot be counted.
“The data analysis section will cause students the most grief. This section is often extremely technical, involving statistical analyses.” (Staines, 2019) When research requires acquiring or evaluating information from statistics or mathematics, quantitative research is the most successful method to process all the data that has been gathered from the studies. When analyzing the information from statistics allows the researcher to have a better perspective of the result of the research. When comparing the results of the analysis, either adding all the results or coming out with the best result of all the obtained data, is why quantitative research is the preferred method to conduct a study when comparing differences is required.
“The analysis is conducted using data that is expressed as words, pictures, or objects.” (Staines, 2019) When the researcher is looking for an exact finding of the study that might impact the techniques or the behavior of the audience who are observing the gathered data from the research influencing the behavior or it could affect the opinion, and the way others think of the results from the information explaining the final results of the research is when the researcher should choose to use qualitative research which allows the researcher to give a more explanatory result to the audience reading the research.
The researcher intends to use qualitative information that lets to achieve the goal of having a more profound understanding of the research, rather than concentrating on the magnitude of problem-solving that requires an amount as the result of the research. Both types of research can allow the audience to understand the outcome of the result during the research affecting the behavior of the audience.

Empirical research studies and literature reviews are different research studies. Empirical research involves collecting new data through observation or experimentation, while literature reviews involve analyzing existing research on a particular topic. Empirical research is based on observed and measured phenomena and derives knowledge from experience rather than theory or belief (Library guides: Empirical research in the Social Sciences and Education: What is empirical research and how to read it ). It involves the collection of data and the analysis of that data to answer a specific research question. This type of research is often used in social and behavioral sciences, where experiments can be conducted to test hypotheses. Empirical research can provide robust, quantitative data and can be used to establish cause-and-effect relationships.
Literature reviews involve the analysis of existing research. They discuss and analyze published information in a particular subject area. It has an organizational pattern that combines a summary with synthesis. A summary provides a recap of all the important information from the source, but a synthesis reorganizes that information. Literature reviews can provide new interpretations of old material and can combine new interpretations with old ones (Research guides: Library services for undergraduate research: What is a literature review?). Literature reviews are particularly useful in fields where a lot of research has already been conducted, as they can help to identify trends, gaps, or inconsistencies in the existing literature.
Using empirical research or a literature review often depends on the research question and the state of existing knowledge. If the research question requires new data to be answered, or if there is little existing research on the topic, then empirical research may be the best choice. However, if the research question involves understanding the current state of knowledge on a topic, or if there is a large body of existing research, then a literature review may be more appropriate. Investigators decide which type of research to pursue based on their research question, the resources they have available, and the state of existing knowledge on their topic.
