“Unfair Termination at Johnston-Willis Hospital: A Call for Fairness and Understanding”

This is for Lisa Licata,
Hello my name is Vanessa Avant, I worked at Johnston-Willis Hospital for 3 years but work for hca for 7 years.  Recently, I was terminated for not being certified as a surgical tech. They gave me 14 day in order to get my certificate which I tried to do. I dont feel like 14 day was enough time for me to get a certificate. I worked in CSS as as sterile processor first, then I transferred to  the OR to be a surgical tech. At that time there were different managers. On my orientation day I did not show up because I did not pass my test to be certified. The manager at the time called me in to say I don’t need to be certified at that time and I can start the next day, and I did so. Fast forward to the manager now gave me a letter stating that I needed to be certified. As soon as I received that letter I applied to get certified to sit for my test.  I paid extra to expedite to take my test as soon as possible. I take my test June 24, 2023. I’m not saying that I want my job back I’m just saying, I do not want a termination on my record.
