Title: Balancing Individual Rights and the Common Good in Times of Crisis

Read the essay, “If Liquor Stores Are Essential, Why Isn’t Church?” by McConnell and Raskin in The New York Times
Pick one question to answer in your post:
The point of rights is to protect individuals from the tyranny of the majority. But the needs of the greater good of society must also be protected sometimes at the expense of the individual. 
1. Why might the right to freedom of religion (attending a place of worship, for example), be more important than “the common good” of society?
2. Should the common good always take precedent over individual rights? Why or why not and offer an example.
