“Reflecting on Key Themes: A Critical Analysis of Readings and Discussions”

Short Reflection Journals (10%)
Due by Friday of the week of students’ selection.
The purposes of the reflection journals for this class are to help you organize your thoughts about the readings after you have completed them, as well as to provide material to inform class discussion, and relfection on the class dicussion. You are required to complete a reflection journal for 2 class sessions of your choosing (excluding the first and last classes). These papers should not exceed 2 pages (double spaced). You should begin with a very brief (one paragraph) synthesizing reaction to the key theme or themes that stood out to you in the readings. The rest of the paper should be a critical reflection on these themes. You should ask questions, make connections among readings and to your own life or work, and discuss implications. These journals should reflect thoughtful engagement with the readings; they should not be written quickly just to turn something in. They also should not be a summary or review of the readings, and dicussions but should be an insightful and concise reflection upon one or two significant points raised in them.
